What a universal film, that appeals to deep-rooted feelings amongst all immigrant families facing the challenges of identity, acceptance and uncertain futures. I am not Lao, but I saw reflected in the faces of this film, myself, my mother, my father, my brother and my sister. Our stories are also your stories. Thank you for posting this touching piece of work.

Just came across this documentary. Well done... The part I could really relate to was the one about growing up in a western country and trying to keep the native language alive, for both parents and children, and how it changed the family dynamic from traditional (parents as head of the family) to less of that (children's attitudes of knowing better/more than parents, and effects thereof). I certainly can identify that within my family.

Great documentary. Thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the hardships of our parents who left their proud country behind for their children, living in Soune refugee camp, how hard it was to assimilate to the western world and how they try to pass on the Lao traditions to their children. Neat perspective on the younger generation's trying to embrace their heritage , even if it takes us awhile to fully speak the language.

Very interesting documentary. I am a Lao from Toronto, and my story is unique as well. I was born in Vientiane in '79, both parents crossed into Thailand with me in tow less than a year old, spent some time in a refugee camp. We were sponsored by a church in a small town in New Brunswick. Basically no Asian community, let alone Lao. So I grew up "Canadian" and so did my parents, since they were both relatively young. We had lots of support but through Canadians not Lao.

Very good documentary, well realised too. My mother is french and my father is Lao but I notice that lao people and their kids live like the characters of your film in Australia, and I think it's the same in USA, or in Canada ... I hope your work finds audience :)

ture to get something really interesting. I still speak and read Lao. I use Lao Thai English everyday in my job. The fact that I am bicutural, opens my mind wider and think that I am very lucky to belong to the western and eastern cultures; There are good things in bothsides and just try to get the best parts of each to build up our personnality. I am happy to Lao and French, I do love FranceLaos. Thanks for sharing your interesting video, it shows that one can live abroad yet one can remain Lao

Awesome Documentary. I am also Laotian living in California though. It is nice to see other Laotians living in other countries. I have seen Laotians here in the US and in France while visiting family. The only way were able to communicate was in Lao. It is cool to see how other Laotians adapt to their new environment but still stick to our culture.

You Lao-Australians are so lucky you live close to Laos. You can visit Laos twice a year because its cheaper as oppose to living in the States. It cost us Lao-Americans an arm and a leg just to get there.

Sabaidï, I am Lao from France. I do love your video. I would like to congratulate all the parents, trying to transmit Lao langage and culture to their children. I do know how hard it can be, yet they do deserve consideration and support. I left my dear homelan for ages I go back almost every year. As the grown up said, the kids were born there. Some might feel embarrassed when they speak Lao. They should think that as a rich part of their parent'scultural heritage. They should combine both cul
