Feels like the Fall of Kabul was similar to this with how bloodless the transition of power was compared to the offensive leading to the Fall of Saigon
Only the hmong resistance chao fa and the neo hom or laos national liberation front which consist of hmong/laos/kamu are the only one left fighting 1975 till the mid 2006 before the insurgency ended .. they wanted the freedom of laos back with the kind monarchy
Very sad when seeing our own kids and our own people kicked our own government of the 3-heads elephant out of powers and out of the country. Whose fault was that?

They feared what a new, communist regime would bring. For the wealthy and educated, it would almost certainly mean a very different life than what they were used to. Much of the country had also been supporting the Royalist government, which had been fighting the Pathet Lao since 1949. Naturally, the Pathet Lao would not take kindly to these folks, and they did not want to live under the regime they had been fighting against anyway. In all CIvil Wars, a portion of the populace will feel displaced, no matter who wins.

Don’t need to read about that. Not all Hmongs fought for the Royal Side.
Plus Vang Pao was a drug lord for the CIA.
And the end result, as I entered Laos from Thailand 2023, it was like going back 100 years, and seems so ripe for the pickings from China.
