  • In this how-to video, I explain how to fly "un classico di Bassano" - the standard 120 km triangle in Bassano del Grappa. Watch the video to get many hints about the route, the key spots, and the options you have during the flight. Maybe I can inspire you for this Italian adventure, and we will meet in the air over Bassano!

    Very useful video for newbies, to be sure. It sure makes it easier to learn how to fly flights like this when you can see the whole thing as a video ahead of time. Back when I started flying cross country in the 1980s, we had no cell phones, no digital video, no GPS, and no one to show us what to do.we had to figure it out for ourselves. The learning curve was pretty steep.

    Thank you! I absolutely love this video. So clear, so informative. I've been trying to fly from Bassano to Garda lake for two years now, without success so far. I've bombed out shortly after the Schio crossing. With the help of this video, I'm sure I'll get further next time! Any chances you might do such video?😉

    • @dymanoid

      Thanks for watching! Flying from Bassano to the Garda lake is possible, there are several flights logged on XContest. Wish you good luck! Indeed, getting back from the Garda lake to Bassano in the same flight is a tough challenge - that's the reason I haven't tried it yet. Maybe with my new (faster) wing I'll try it though 😊

  •  8 месяцев назад +5

    Wow, excellent video with lots of information and instructions. Definitely at the top of my top 5 paragliding videos to watch. I don't know the part towards Schio and I'm a little too cautious to take your "leave the climb, you have a lot of height" advice, but even for a turning point much earlier than your, this is a very valuable video. Congratulations.

      Thank you for watching, and I'm glad you found it useful! When we learn to fly, we first learn how to circle in the thermals to fly far. Then, we learn how NOT to circle in the thermals to fly farther 😀 With more experience, we feel better where to be patient and where to push. But better learn slowly - to stay safe and have fun!

    Danke für das sehr detailreiche Video. Genau sowas suche ich schon eine ganze Weile. Werde das Video vor dem nächsten Bassano-Urlaub nochmal genau studieren und dann nachfliegen. Bisher liegt mein Rekord in Bassano bei etwa 45km, das war aber One-way, ohne einen richtigen Plan, einfach mal drauf los. Das Potential habe ich aber da schon verspürt und träume seither von den 100km XC:)

      Viel Erfolg! Wenn mein Video tatsächlich hilft, eine größere Strecke in Bassano zu schaffen, dann habe ich mein Ziel erreicht! Demnächst dann wohl ein interview bei Lucian ;-)
    Ich quere die Brenta lieber auf den hinteren Route. Der Talwindströmt strömt da zuverlässig hoch und man kommt soarend immer über das Gipfelkreuz. Habe da selbst bei Westwind nie ein relevantes Lee erlebt.

    • @dymanoid
      @dymanoid  8 месяцев назад +2

      Danke! Ich habe die beiden Optionen probiert - beide gehen gut, die vordere ist aber dann meistens etwas schneller. Bei der hinteren Option besteht das Risiko, da stecken zu bleiben und doch nach vorne vorfliegen zu müssen (schon ein paar Mal gesehen). Wenn's aber gut geht, dann ist die hintere Option etwas entspannter, ja.

      Yep, that week was just awesome, such a pleasant weather to fly! I really like the Peak 6, but it might be slightly less performant compared to the other top EN-D wings like Leopard, XCRacer, or Zeno 2. On the other side, it's much more comfortable compared to them and has probably the most pleasant handling in this category.

    Ein sehr gutes Lehrvideo mit vielen wertvollen Profi-Tipps und taktischen Ratschlägen. Anerkennende Worte, herzlichen Glückwunsch! Man sieht sofort, dass der Autor in diesem Bereich viel und mit großem Engagement geflogen ist. Ich habe auch einige Erfahrung mit Überlandflügen in Bassano. Allerdings bin ich der Meinung, dass man nie genug gute und wertvolle Ratschläge haben kann. Darüber hinaus denke ich, dass es für einige Piloten sehr interessant und hilfreich wäre, wenn ein ähnlicher Film gedreht würde, in dem Ost und West in einem Flug kombiniert würden. Ich meine hier das Gebiet von Bassano über den Fluss Piave nach Valdobbiadene oder sogar bis zum Col Visentin in der Gegend von Vittorio Veneto. Zurück durch die Startgebiete da Beppi, Stella, Costalunga, dann Monte Summano, Cima Forni Alti und Cima Palon im Gebiet Ossario Pasubio. Von diesem westlichsten Wendepunkt zurück nach Bassano für eine wohlverdiente Pizza und Rotwein bei Emanuele's im L'Antica Abbazia 🪂🍕🍷😀 Herzliche Grüße! Wojtek 🙋‍♂️

    • @dymanoid
      @dymanoid  5 месяцев назад +1

      Danke für den Kommentar! Was die größere Strecke angeht, da bin ich diese Route tatsächlich schon ein paar Mal geflogen (im Osten bis Col Visentin, im Westen nicht ganz bis Pasubio, sondern nur bis Monte Summano). Das waren ca. 150 km. Mit dem schnelleren Schirm sollte es jetzt auch möglich sein, die volle Strecke bis ca. 180-190 km zu erweitern. So ein Video steht auf jeden Fall auf meiner To-Do-Liste!

      @dymanoid  7 месяцев назад

      Thank you for watching! There is no reliable way to measure the wind speed during the flight without a true air speed sensor which I don't have. My flight instruments only give a very rough estimation based on the GPS tracking, so the only meaningful info I could have included would be "light headwind" or "strong tailwind" which is probably not what you want.

    • @Meiner_Einer
      @Meiner_Einer 8 месяцев назад

      @@dymanoid i think there i no way to integrate the data directly. You will need 3rd party software for that. I belive the software will do the synchonization via timestamps automatically. What APP you use to record all your XC?

    • @dymanoid
      @dymanoid  7 месяцев назад

      I use my flight instrument XCTracer MAXX to record my flight tracklogs. I also use an app called XCTrack for navigation and live tracking during the flight. For 3D visualization in this video, I used an online service called replay.flights. I store all my flights on DHV-XC - a German paragliding flight database, and most of the flights also on XContest.

    Hi, I wonder if is it possible to fly further to the east and reach the Meduno take off? 5:58

    • @dymanoid
      @dymanoid  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, it's possible - but only one way, of course. You have to keep in mind the restricted airspaces though - you only have a chance to do it on Saturday or Sunday, because there are restricted airspaces (Aviano) active on weekdays. You can cross the Piave river and fly to Belluno and then back. Up to 200 km triangles are possible in this way. I'll do a video about flying a 150+ km triangle visiting Belluno soon 😀

    • @dymanoid
      @dymanoid  7 месяцев назад

      The best time for XC flying in Bassano is probably March-May and August-September. On an EN-A wing, a 50-60 km route is doable for sure. For a 100 km triangle on an EN-A you will need a perfect day - no wind and exceptionally high cloud base (more than 2000 m AMSL).

    • @ScoringStageDe
      @ScoringStageDe 7 месяцев назад

      You can check the video description - I referenced my XContest flight there. I flew this triangle on October the 1st, and last year a similar one on October the 8th - so you can even do this in late autumn. The best time is probably March-May and August-September.

    is it possible to do this with an EN A wing?

    • @dymanoid
      @dymanoid  2 месяца назад

      I believe, an experienced pilot could fly this route on a modern EN-A wing on an exceptionally good day (high cloud base, light wind). However, no such flights have been recorded until today. A more realistic route would be about 80 km without the Schio crossing.

      A 120 km route in Bassano on an EN-A is a tough challenge! It might work if there's not much wind and the cloud base is exceptionally high. Wish you luck! But maybe it's better to start with a shorter route - for example, 70 km without the big Schio crossing.
