In this 'In Conversation' Holly discusses the influence of Alasdair's ledger, which provides invaluable insight into how he worked. Although the ledger is not a finished artwork or book, it is still one of the most important and inspiring items at AGA. Holly reflects on how the ledger has become a symbol of Alasdair's process and plays an important role in preserving his artistic legacy.
'In Conversation' is a durational Instagram exhibition curated in 2024 by Holly Rennie Brown, our placement student from MFA Curatorial Practice from Duncan of Jordanstone Art & Design, Dundee. Over the course of 5 days, Holly reflected on their time spent at The Alasdair Gray Archive for their Masters placement. Discussing the green armchair, the ledger, the library, the motif box file and the Morag McAlpine box file, this exhibition shows the curator in conversation with the Archive, reflecting on the items significance.
