I've been looking for a copy of this for years. That's me playing guitar with long hair. The last time I saw this was at the screening in Richard Cases apartment on Kingsley Drive back in 77. We also shot scenes at the Long Beach Pike and in Pointe Dume in Malibu.
@@shabustinkslol I am very happy to have this window into the past and find Vom’s absolutely material hilarious. Glad I was able to participate. Greg Turner showed how to play all tge rhythm guitar parts and it was my first introduction to punk before I had even heard tge Ramones or Pistols. I was heavily into Blackmore at tge time
At the time I was just into Blackmore and AC DC, but I remember Greg Turner showing me the chords to the songs. I ended up getting kicked out of the house and sort of joining the punk scene in LA later. What's funny is I've since become a fan of Meltzer's writing, probably from hanging out at the library too much.
I loved VOM!So fucking punk!r.Meltzer is God!He got thrown out of the Pistols last gig in S.F. for insulting Bill Graham (Meltz was the emcee that night)but managed to sneak back in.A role model for the ages.
Don't know when this was made--early to mid- seventies--looks like it was shot on 8mm, maybe early videotape--Can be found on bargain bin lp "Saturday Night Pogo" an attempted exploitation of the coming punk thing (with The Dils!)--Not sure if the babes were actually playing or were just there for looks--Too bad they didn't have an lp worth of material!
Actually, the VOM videos were filmed in (August?) 1978. Fer sure, coz I was subbing for "Ted Kluzewski" (my brother, Metal Mike) on drums... and arrived in LA in July 1978.
It sounds like the stuff your describing was on the East Coast? I went to the screening at Richard Casey's apartment on Kingsley in Hollywood. I had just moved out here from NY and my step sister got me in on the whole thing via a film class she or her boyfriend was taking.
OMFG -- yes. I was a Serial Killer groupie. True story: I saw the Serial killers play in the basement of an abandoned frathouse in Phila called the "Crypt". It was so dangerous. The show began with the "Jr. Miss Crypt Pageant" and eventually ended with a bonafide riot after someone in the audience touched Tim the Strangler's guitar and the rest of the band threw down their instruments to fight. To Tim's defense, it was while he played it. I literally blew black into a tissue after leaving.
@squintchy - Big ditto on Richard's writing; he was one of the few "rock critics" who actually had something one could call a writing "style", and he influenced my own stream-of-conscio-babble considerably. That, AND being a genius lyricist!
According to wiki "Lisa Brenneis" is 'Gurl'... I never met her (or the real VOM guitarists). I was only in the videos... Gregg talked me into doing it, since Mike wasn't interested.
I would pay over 9000 samoleans to see the footage where the friendly idiot at the amusement park (moi, wearing a Spiderman mask I then pull up on top of my head) greets Dick and Irene with joy... and Dick crams a burger in my face and Irene tosses a milkshake on me. I knew it was coming, but I was not prepared for the incredible grossness of the burger! (Gags in horror! No acting skillz required!)

That's so cool! How do you feel about it now, in 2021?

I just downloaded Saturday Night Pogo and this is one of my favorite songs along with Berlin Brats "Tropically Hot". This video is so hilarious!

Yeah, in front of the refinery or sewage plant. The other one is in Malibu. We did one at the Long Beach pike but I've never seen that footage.

The singer was the first journalist to interview Jimi Hendrix
