This really scores high on my personal list of the most beautiful guitars I've seen to this day. Damn, I'd love to have one of these so much, it takes the ergonomics of an S body with fine luthiery and goes above and beyond - just lovely!

Awesome guitar. Amazing playing as always! Maybe you could compare it to one of the less expensive Ibanez S-Series? Once I got my S612QM I have not touched any of my other guitars LOL!

It's gorgeous. Love the S series. I have a couple Japanese ones from the early 90s. One with a V shaped neck and two point non locking trem...Love these guitars.
That guitar sounds and looks unreal. I will definitely look into one of those next.
My other guitars are all Fenders (Tele deluxe, Tele and a Strat), but I have to say this guitar does look stunning.
It’s really made me look at these. Never considered what Joe Bonnamassa calls a hockey stick before.
The problem is I live far from a store. You hear about the skinny necks on these( I may love it). Really like the build quality of this guitar.
So a comparison of playability and tones I would like.

I just recently bought an Ibanez Prestige S5521Q in Doom Purple Burst myself and it is legitimately one the best guitars I've ever played. The Super Wizard HP neck makes every other neck feel like a baseball bat haha

I have been playing Ibanez for more than 25 years (4 different ones, PGM, ST, SA 2 different) Without any doubt these are very versatile guitars and they look absolutely awesome!!! I had Kramer before which was a good guitar but....
I own the same guitar but with aftermarket pickups. One of the best playing guitars i've ever had the pleasure of owning (also my first Ibanez). Enjoy Darrell!

It looks impeccable - sounds great - you seem to like the playability - goes to show you what is possible when you not stuck in the past afraid to modify an obvious design flaw ( both Gibson and Fender are being left behind ).

I got my RGB752AHM NGB about a month ago and I love it so much. I don't even use the 7th string that much but it's still my main guitar because it just kicks ass!

Wow that's an awesome guitar! I just recently bought an s521 and I'm telling you it's one of the best if not the best sounding and playable guitars I've ever had.I would love to get a hold of a prestige at some point I'm sure it probably plays itself.

I think that they chose the white binding on the neck because over time it will eventually turn cream as well. It will have a nice dual-tone binding :)
Beautiful finish on that new guitar! I just got (for free!) an old SA (HSS) which was a cheap guitar but man, am I impressed with it. The body is insanely comfortable. The next is super thin for my taste but I'll suffer through! Previous owner had jacked up the finish, so I've completely stripped it, "rolled" the edges of the neck and will get some new pickups for it. I can't wait to have it done. The guitar will be quite different from the "vintage" style stuff I generally play.

The person who taught me how to play guitar over 20 years ago had an FGM100 (Frank Gambale signature S) in desert yellow. I knew at some point I'd have one just for the nostalgia. As it turns out: I'm a fan of thin necks, AND (since I'm a chubster) a fan of thin bodied guitars too. I love my cheapy little S.

I have been thinking about a new guitar, I was really looking at other brands other than Gibson Fender or PRS, I went to GC and I tried an Ibanez gem and I really really like the neck, and than you show up Whit this guitar and I like it, am going to check it up now that I know this guitar exist, thanks for another entertaining video, I hope some day I can do bends With my index finger as good as you do, you make it look easy.

Hi Darrell, great to see something on ibanez I have the same guitar but with a wine red finish. Don't get me wrong I love my fenders and old Gibson but I think people overlook how awesome a ibanez made in Japan can be. Craftsmanship is always great sound is top notch and the price....... can't go wrong. They do more than just metal as well gidday from Australia.

There are Mahogany RGs. I have a RG421Mh, which is Mahogany body. Mine is not a prestige, unfortunately. Gorgeous S you have there. Great tones too. Enjoy that great guitar.

Ibanez prestige are just on another level for me personally, have tried £3000+ suhr, fender, Gibson, PRS and everyone makes me wish I was playing my £1200 Ibanez prestige amazing value for money

Did you end up changing the pickups on the S5521Q? I have the same guitar but really dont like how the V7 & V8 pick-ups sound. Considering Suhr Thornbuckers to replace.

Darrel, do you think the s series provide less strain to the hands when playing ? I mean sort of like a boden?
Do you find that you have to hold the neck from falling down because of the light body weight?
I can't find one for sale. Sweetwater, Guitar Center and all of the big boys say they don't have any in stock. Do you know if it's been discontinued?
Still got it? I had an old 80's Roadstar series II back about 15 years ago. Got a 7 string prestige on the way arriving Monday.

I used to own one before I switched to an RG1570. Mine had a V7 in the neck position and a V8 in the bridge (I loved them so much, the switch to RG1570 -- with the same pickups and an additional S1 mid-pup -- was a no brainer when I also wanted a floating tremolo). Did you get yours modded? Those pickups don't look like the originals.
I like that body shape. I may need to hop over to a guitar store and take one for a test ride.
Hey Darrell, what do you think about this S prestige being manufactured with nickel silver frets? After a couple of years that you got this guitar, are you feeling any wearing due to that? They should have developed this s prestige with stainless steel.

Had my 540s since 1992. It has the custom made badge in the neck. And the writing made in usa in the neck plate. Ibz/usa pickups which are made by dimarzio. I belive the guitar actually is made in fujigen Japan but assembled in usa not sure about that
Would love to know what effects your using couzIm buying That sucker like yesterday and I want that sound.
I bought an S5521Q Nebula Green Burst a couple of years ago. Very pretty and well made. The wide flat neck is great for my large hands. I didn't like the Ibanez V7 and V8 pickups that came with it so I put in a couple of Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates. Now it is a proper rock machine and can do nice clean tones as well as crunch! A great improvement on the original.
Subsequently I got an S770FM, nearly as good. Again I didn't like the INF1 and INF2 humbuckers so I put a DiMarzio Gravity Storm in the neck and a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge. This is now a proper loud metal ax. The neck pu gets really down and dirty.
Between the two all my guitar needs are satisfied.
The new S6521Q recent replacement for the S5521Q now comes with a pair of DiMarzio pickups. That should improve the tone a lot.

They are indeed very "nice". Now I've got four Gibson-style guitars I don't use any more as the necks are uncomfortable. :-(
