Using wood stain and sharpy can make your fretboard look darker. But it's not as easy as it sounds. You can also use steel wool dissolved in vinegar but that only works on some types of wood. Amaranth is NOT one of those types of wood. I did this on my HB-35, It looks like dark rosewood now, very happy.
Been playing my S470 for 10 years now, the S series is weird and it's definitely not for everyone but I love it to bits. Seriously considering that S770, what a beauty
ESP needs to start doing what Ibanez does with their basses. At least as far as options go. I've been an ESP artist for years and the bass options are always super limited compared to their guitars.
As an Ibanez fan (mostly a fan of the RG series) I feel like there's so much potential for the Iceman shape. I'd like to see the Iceman with 24 frets, a wizard neck, and an edge tremolo. Maybe also with more modern options like 7 string variants or sustainiac pickups...
I ❤ the Iceman. It's unique and sleek for a pointy without looking like a medieval weapon. I have a 2008 Iceman ICT700 Neckthru in white with black binding and hardware. I put Sperzel Locking Tuners and Duncan Full Shreds on it and set up to Drop C tuning 🤘
Ibanez has the bass workshop which is dedicated solely to doing cool unique things with the basses, they don’t have an equivalent with the guitar branch
Another thing to add about the Icemen: They come with Ibanez's Super 80 pickups, aka "Flying Fingers". This is notable because, while a lot of Ibanez-branded pickups are "passable" at best, the Super 80s were hugely popular back then as Ibanez's answer to things like Gibson Dirty Fingers and Dimarzio Super Distortion...something that allegedly stands on par with them! I have not played Super 80s yet so cant vouch, but given the affordable price on these Icemen I might soon...

Ibanez has come out with quite a few really good budget strat body guitars for under $300, enough that you could make a whole video about them. My personal favorite is the $200 Gio GRX70QA line that have much nicer looking cutaway horns. Ive never liked the look of Ibanez strats because the horns are long and thin shaped. But this new horn shape looks nice. The problem with these guitars is that they have a fake quilted maple painted on the body which is very poorly done and makes the guitars look Amazon tier cheap.
I just got RG LOMenOpe - 550 and the neck pocket sucks haha. but fr why they stick a giant ass metal plate , as thick as something on my body. be slapped on the back like a skateboard sticker. right where my hand shreds the neck lika cheese grater on thanksgiving eve! I think Ibanez is left behind in the guitar side of things.. ESP and Jackson are killing it but Ibanez I don’t know.. two years in a row the lineup is kinda disappointing.. Yes the icemans are back but that’s the only interest think.. I hoped they will bring back the Destroyers too but no(I suppose because of Gibson lawsuiting everyone..😜 I suppose they lost Vogg from their artist roster because of that..) BUT in the Bass side.. I play guitar almost 20 years and bass at least 12.. when I hear about new Ibanez lineup I first look at the bass lineup. Man they are killing it! The choices are excellent! When we are talking about basses Ibanez are definitely the masters on that. The SRs and the BTBs are the top metal basses in my opinion. I never played a bass that is better than the SRs(when we are talking about metal). Extremely comfortable and versatile instruments. Even the cheaper SRs can hit expensive models from other companies easily. And even if you think you need something more from a cheap SR you only need to change the EQ and instantly you went from a 500 dollar bass to a -over 1000 dollar- bass. So conclusion: Ibanez guitars meh except from the Icemans. It’s really cool they brought them back. Ibanez basses: hell yeah for one more year! It’s really awesome to be a Metal bass player now days with those products from Ibanez. 😉
You might already know this, but the Destroyer is actually the result of a Gibson lawsuit! The original version of the destroyer in the 70s was a straight up copy of the explorer, and after Ibanez was sued by Gibson they came out with the Destroyer II body shape around 1980 that we know today. If only they would bring it back!
As much as people do not want to accept it the edge zero trem is the best at ibanez, it is extremely solid as long as you set it properly (meaning not like a low pro where the top profile of the trem is slanted, edge zeros are supposed to be flat, crazy thing is even ibanez set those ZRs slanted....) I mean you want to talk about a real f*up that is the one that ibanez never took any liability for
Nowadays you can buy a killer looking guitar for $200-300 and for an extra $50-100 have it setup by a pro so it plays amazing....and be fully stoked. If you can't afford that, you probably can't afford to play guitar moving forward. It's absolutely stupid what you get today compared to what I got in 1986.
how come ibanez always slap a trem on every guitar? i listen to metal and most of their metal artist doesnt use trems. i mean even if you use trems how often do you use it in a song? heres a list of artist who had their LACS without trem or had it removed. erra invent animate malevolence polyphia
I’m not sold on Ibanez low end trem . The Edge and Edge lo pro are in my opinion the best double locking tremolos ever. Historically their low end trems are just as bad as anything else. Ibanez obviously has a good relationship with Gotoh, why not buy a ton of 1996T units surely since they retail around 120 dollars Ibanez could buy enough in bulk to get their price down to 75-80 dollars a unit and then subtract the cost of whatever the current trem is add 100 to the gio line and have an untouchable value shredder , maybe the GIO would cost 450 dollars, but a guitar under 500 dollars with a double locking tremolo that’s arguably better than the FR original. That would shake the guitar industry. I’ve always thought Gotoh needed to get the 1996T into more OEM instruments and who better than Ibanez ? Also come on Ibanez how about some Iceman in the Premium, Prestige, and J Craft lines. I know I can’t be the only one who would be all in on a 1500-2000 dollar premium spec’d Iceman, with some Gotoh locking tuners and some Duncan or Dimarzio pups, Rosewood and or Ebony boards and mahogany bodies, hell even a basswood body just a really nice Iceman to compete with the high end Epiphone stuff.
The new Iceman feels and sounds more Gibson than Gibson. The attention to detail with the fit and finish makes even some name guitars at over twice the price look like like junk. The most important thing to add is I DO NOT exaggerate to make a point. It is that good. the price is $750.00 USD!!!! Once again .... the guitar is that good I do not exaggerate!!!
I really hate the GRG320FA's!!! They are not veneer's!!! It's an "art veneer"...meaning it's a sticker! For that, just make them solid colors. There's no harm with going with solid colors instead of putting on a sticker and calling it something else. Shame on Ibanez for this!!!
I quit buying any Ibanez guitars due to their boring colors. I usually spend $900 - $1500 on a guitar and Ibanez ONLY concentrates on their lowest end or J-Custom guitars. They haven't had any good color choices in their mid level guitars in more than 5 years. I switched to Schecter guitars and purchased 4 in the last year. This year , I'm getting 1 Charvel and 1 ESP guitar. Ibanez is losing money in their mid level guitars from other people as well.

I dunno why Ibanez is slipping so hard. Is the company in financial trouble or something? They've been doing fuck all for so long now.

About iceman: the 7 string went online after 2019, in my memory about 2020.
