The problem with CoE is around half of the bishop & vicars have gone woke and the other half (unlike someone like Rev Dan) are not standing up & raise their voice for the truth and condemn the false teachings, the vicars for the church I was in before didn’t agree with Bishop John but they just kept themselves quite quiet, which is very sad.

Rev Dan, I am a mere congregant in my 80's and in front of a roomful of people from six village churches who are under one Vicar, I was treated abysmally last year when we were running up to the time for interviews for our Vicar who would oversee six churches. The meeting was run by The Dean of smaller Churches in Worcestershire. We already had a Curate in Charge whom we all loved because he is a good man who stands upon Biblical teaching. We all wanted to keep him. When asked what qualities we would like in our new Vicar, I put up my hand and said, "I would like a Vicar who believes the Bible from Genesis to Revelation." If looks could kill I would not be writing this now. She, the Dean of smaller churches, glowered at me, turned her back on me to face the big circle we all formed in the hall, and proceeded to say, "I smell an agenda here against gay blessings. She then continued arguing for gay blessings for the next five minutes, giving no more space for any of us to say any more on this topic. She then refused to add "A bible believing Vicar" to the list! Happily we have kept our Vicar, but I suspect there was concern that many of us walk out if they chose a Woke Vicar!

Thanks for this. I looked at the statement of needs document, and yes, it seems that those who are orthodox and currently hold the CoE teaching on marriage should not apply. But those who no longer believe the official teaching of the church are encouraged to apply. Not quite sure how we are to flourish as those who remain orthodox on marriage. A

Everything is changing and not for the better. I was speaking to my 9 year old niece who said she is not taught about Jesus at school, but she and her class were taken to a mosque. And spoken to about islam. I thought I grew up in a Christian country. What's happened.?

My liberal Episcopal church kicked me out for de-transitioning. Getting healthy and deepening faith in God was too much for their "Welcoming Congregation". I am just thanking God for rescuing me from that pit of snakes. All these liberal churches have common themes - anything having to do with right worship and scripture has gone to the wayside.
I live in Scotland, and I refuse to stop praying against abortions. I will be moving soon. When I do I plan to walk the streets of my town, praying for God to move in our area.

All I know about the Bishop of Dudley who has taken over at Worcester is that he's been overseeing a decline in Church attendance in Dudley and that his views suggest that he joined an organisation whose traditional theological positions he doesn't agree with and which he's working to change in order that they fit in with secular culture. If that is the case then is there a need for a church at all if it’s mission is following and justifying secular culture rather than leading?
If your a true Christian you can pray anywhere, you don't have to go to church to be near God as he is everywhere. As long as you are true to him and have opened your heart, soul and mind to him and confessed your sins he will be waiting for you to pray to him no matter where you are

I find it intesting to see the issues facing Christians in England. I am not surprised that Liberals only need apply for Church Leadership positions. We saw the same thing happen in the ELCA since it combined in the 1990's. Most of the leadership are liberal thinkers. Hi Dan. Thank you for your news and views.. I listen regularly. Three comments on this podcast. 1. Kate Forbes is part of the SNP not the LibDems. 2. I was part of the Methodist church for forty years and was fortunate to be in a church which had four evangelical ministers over those years (sadly not now). I am now a member of a Grace Baptist Church. When seeking a new minister in the Methodist church we were always able to say that we wanted an evangelical minister. I'm sure that Evangelical CofE churches have always been able to stipulate that they want an evangelical minister. So this is nothing new. I see nothing wrong in a liberal church or diocese advertising for a liberal. What evangelical would want to go to a liberal church or be bishop of a liberal diocese anyway. (Please note that I do see do lots wrong with liberal ministers, liberal bishops, liberal churches, liberal diocese and liberal denominations. 3 Pensions. I wor😮ked for the Post Office and get a pension of around £13000 based on 38 years service. My wife has a small pension. Of course you need to take into account that a couple will also gat a state pension each so that might bring their joint income to around £38.000 per annum. We are quite comfortable. We tithe, have holidays and support our children and grandchildren when we can. However we do live in the north west in a terraced house!! Of course the big difference is that despite never earning a lot of money we were able to get a mortgage and buy our own house which we now own so we have no rent or mortgage payments. We appreciate your ministry but I just wanted to provide some balance to what you said today.

Would be good test of law on silent pray areas if we do silent co-beligerence together. Oh dear Dan, you lost me at the dishwasher, and the pension. You would not be living solely on your clergy pension, but a state pension too. I don't know who wrote that list of what's needed to live but I can assure you there are many, many thousands of pensioners who survive on much less than you'll have, and paying rent etc too. Along came Indians and Pakistani's and set up equally small shops, but their religion said they could open on a Sunday, and don't you dare argue. They took all the trade, including for the rest of the week. Christian shops had no choice but to open on the Sabbath. I remember the heated arguments. Now only a single government controlled compulsory Christian Church can reverse that, and Tesco and others would / will breath a sigh of relief, but just now if one closed on a Sunday it might as well close completely, because they'd have no customers any day of the week. Also: A compulsory single Christian Church would, or will, be far less expensive to run. You cost too much Dan with no benefit to the community at all.

Two points here. Firstly Worcester Diocese seems vague in its comment. What does 'affirming' of LGBT people mean? On the one hand it could mean affirming of their right to have same-sex relationships blessed, which of course is contrary to an orthodox Biblical view. On the other hand it could mean merely affirming that some people are gay or lesbian, and the Lord created them that way. I've known about 50 openly LGBT people, which is probably about average for a chap like me in his early 60s. The evidence I've seen suggests that to deny the existence of homosexuality as a natural condition is dishonest, and equally contrary to Biblical principles of truth. My second point is that I really wish people would stop using the word 'liberal' as the opposite of 'conservative'. A liberal approach should be free of bias towards a conservative or a progressive position. It bases its conclusions on the evidence, not on following any herd. Many so-called liberals are prejudiced against a conservative view on some issues, and will not even give it serious thought. This is highly illiberal. Conversely I like to think that it is BECAUSE I am liberal in my approach that I have considered the evidence for conservative and progressive positions and on some issues thrown my weight behind the conservative view.

I did pole dancing classes for 1 & 1/2 years until I realised I would never prevail. It is the hardest physical discipline I have ever undertaken, and I have done ballet, renaissance dance, rowing, sailing, horse riding. But pole dancing is far more difficult. You really need to do at least 3 classes per week minimum to get anywhere. So I have huge respect for those who can do it, and those who excel at it. But pole dancing in church??!! Totally bizarre. It is necessary to wear skimpy clothes in order for your skin to 'stick' to the pole. And skimpy clothes are not suitable for church. What a weird story!

What amount will the congregation have to provide CofE retired vicars a reasonable standard in old age? Thanks for this. I looked at the statement of needs document, and yes, it seems that those who are orthodox and currently hold the CoE teaching on marriage should not apply. But those who no longer believe the official teaching of the church are encouraged to apply. Not quite sure how we are to flourish as those who remain orthodox on marriage. A

Left the Anglican Church of Canada and joined the Traditional Anglican Church (Anglican Catholic Church of Canada). So much more happier than I was in a church that has lost its way.
The Church of England can be relied upon to provide some attractive ceremonies, but if you're looking for Jesus, it's probably best to seek him elsewhere. What a tragedy.
Everything is changing and not for the better. I was speaking to my 9 year old niece who said she is not taught about Jesus at school, but she and her class were taken to a mosque. And spoken to about islam. I thought I grew up in a Christian country. What's happened.?

My liberal Episcopal church kicked me out for de-transitioning. Getting healthy and deepening faith in God was too much for their "Welcoming Congregation". I am just thanking God for rescuing me from that pit of snakes. All these liberal churches have common themes - anything having to do with right worship and scripture has gone to the wayside.

All I know about the Bishop of Dudley who has taken over at Worcester is that he's been overseeing a decline in Church attendance in Dudley and that his views suggest that he joined an organisation whose traditional theological positions he doesn't agree with and which he's working to change in order that they fit in with secular culture. If that is the case then is there a need for a church at all if it’s mission is following and justifying secular culture rather than leading?
If your a true Christian you can pray anywhere, you don't have to go to church to be near God as he is everywhere. As long as you are true to him and have opened your heart, soul and mind to him and confessed your sins he will be waiting for you to pray to him no matter where you are

Here in NZ I got out of the Anglican church a long time ago and found my Jewish roots and do not go anywhere sad to say. But what does one do? I find it intesting to see the issues facing Christians in England. I am not surprised that Liberals only need apply for Church Leadership positions. We saw the same thing happen in the ELCA since it combined in the 1990's. Most of the leadership are liberal thinkers. The direction of things around the world seem to separate our Faith which is taught in the Bible. Martin Luther said "Listen to the evangelist but go home and verify if that is what is said in the Bible" Listen but verify Too often we fall for the teachings of False Teachers because it is pleasing to the ears. Read the Bible So you can tell the True teachings from the False Teachings. Remember from Matt 7 People claiming to be Christian doing great things yet Jesus said "I know you not" I do not want to be among those individuals. Seek after God and Grow in Faith.

Hi Dan. Thank you for your news and views.. I listen regularly. Three comments on this podcast. 1. Kate Forbes is part of the SNP not the LibDems. 2. I was part of the Methodist church for forty years and was fortunate to be in a church which had four evangelical ministers over those years (sadly not now). I am now a member of a Grace Baptist Church. When seeking a new minister in the Methodist church we were always able to say that we wanted an evangelical minister. I'm sure that Evangelical CofE churches have always been able to stipulate that they want an evangelical minister. So this is nothing new. I see nothing wrong in a liberal church or diocese advertising for a liberal. What evangelical would want to go to a liberal church or be bishop of a liberal diocese anyway. (Please note that I do see do lots wrong with liberal ministers, liberal bishops, liberal churches, liberal diocese and liberal denominations. 3 Pensions. I wor😮ked for the Post Office and get a pension of around £13000 based on 38 years service. My wife has a small pension. Of course you need to take into account that a couple will also gat a state pension each so that might bring their joint income to around £38.000 per annum. We are quite comfortable. We tithe, have holidays and support our children and grandchildren when we can. However we do live in the north west in a terraced house!! Of course the big difference is that despite never earning a lot of money we were able to get a mortgage and buy our own house which we now own so we have no rent or mortgage payments. We appreciate your ministry but I just wanted to provide some balance to what you said today.

@@chrisneeds6125 That is not a Cult. It is a branch of biblical theology. They are brothers and sisters in Christ. Accept them and work with them. They believe in the authority of scripture, the atoning death of the Lord Jesus, the need for repentance and faith and the resurrection.
I am Roman Catholic, living in Worcester, I do hope that the relations between the C.E church and the Roman Catholic Church keep on the friendship and the shared aspirations.

Would be good test of law on silent pray areas if we do silent co-beligerence together. I don't know who wrote that list of what's needed to live but I can assure you there are many, many thousands of pensioners who survive on much less than you'll have, and paying rent etc too.

Look at the recent case of that woman in Birmingham who was arrested for praying silently outside an abortion clinic. Eventually she won her case, but she should never have been arrested in the first place. In addition, there was a man who was condemned for doing something similar.

Sunday Opening: When I was young (1960's) there were only small shops and none opened on a Sunday. Along came Indians and Pakistani's and set up equally small shops, but their religion said they could open on a Sunday, and don't you dare argue. They took all the trade, including for the rest of the week. Christian shops had no choice but to open on the Sabbath. I remember the heated arguments.
Now only a single government controlled compulsory Christian Church can reverse that, and Tesco and others would / will breath a sigh of relief, but just now if one closed on a Sunday it might as well close completely, because they'd have no customers any day of the week. Also: A compulsory single Christian Church would, or will, be far less expensive to run. You cost too much Dan with no benefit to the community at all.

My exegesis doesn't create more "nots" . Half the christians create theological "nots" (often reflecting their individual psychological needs) and half the christians spend their their time undoing those "nots". Jesus didn't create "nots" quite the opposite.

Two points here. Firstly Worcester Diocese seems vague in its comment. What does 'affirming' of LGBT people mean? On the one hand it could mean affirming of their right to have same-sex relationships blessed, which of course is contrary to an orthodox Biblical view. On the other hand it could mean merely affirming that some people are gay or lesbian, and the Lord created them that way. I've known about 50 openly LGBT people, which is probably about average for a chap like me in his early 60s. The evidence I've seen suggests that to deny the existence of homosexuality as a natural condition is dishonest, and equally contrary to Biblical principles of truth. My second point is that I really wish people would stop using the word 'liberal' as the opposite of 'conservative'. A liberal approach should be free of bias towards a conservative or a progressive position. It bases its conclusions on the evidence, not on following any herd. Many so-called liberals are prejudiced against a conservative view on some issues, and will not even give it serious thought. This is highly illiberal. Conversely I like to think that it is BECAUSE I am liberal in my approach that I have considered the evidence for conservative and progressive positions and on some issues thrown my weight behind the conservative view.
You are extremely naive. The Church of England is run now by treacherous liberals. Surprised you are, but perhaps you will grow up about that. The abuse scandal was horrific within the CE, with Welby doing nothing for those affected. The modern Left talk virtue, but do the opposite. I know far too much. Some retired clergy I know live in an investment property owned by one of their children.
I did pole dancing classes for 1 & 1/2 years until I realised I would never prevail. It is the hardest physical discipline I have ever undertaken, and I have done ballet, renaissance dance, rowing, sailing, horse riding. But pole dancing is far more difficult. You really need to do at least 3 classes per week minimum to get anywhere. So I have huge respect for those who can do it, and those who excel at it. But pole dancing in church??!! Totally bizarre. It is necessary to wear skimpy clothes in order for your skin to 'stick' to the pole. And skimpy clothes are not suitable for church. What a weird story!

The wider communion of Anglicans, who are no better really, have dissociated themselves from the C of E. The C of E has no authority to speak on behalf of Christ and never had, Moreover, it only has legitamacy within its own community but no Authority on behalf of God.
