Thank you. I was cleaning my camera and a bit of lens cleaner got inside leaving discolouration on the lens. Followed your video and managed to take the lens aparat, put it together and all is great! Three things for everyone attempting it: - "glue" bits that are removed on the video may have hardened over time - use hair drier to warm them up and they peel off much easier - use soft silicone to attach lens back together (I've used clear gasket one) - get set a precise tweezers if you can
Hey, great video! I tried to focus at 33:10 in your video when you fixed the shutter blades, but it didn’t work for me 🥲. They’re overlapping when I turn off my camera and can’t open when I turn it back on. I don’t know how to fix that. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Thanks very much for this. Saved me £100 cleaning fee from Canon. Only took about 20 mins and very easy (after watching this video). Had a small issue with the shutter blades getting stuck afterwards, which was fixed by wiggling the lens cover a bit. Very much could not have done it with this vid. Thanks again.
after taking off the lens cap the springs and shutters flew everywhere and had no idea how to put it back. Thanks for the video saved a trip to the repair shop
Hi, I have a smudge like underneath the lens after the hole you’ve made.. any idea how to clean that? What If I made a hole in de bottom ring? Thank you
Hi, I am new to Canon G7X Mark II. However, I am proficient in Sony 100 series and Fujifilm. When I am taking photos with Canon G7X II, the images are not sharp, and the colours are not coming properly. At times in one photo itself, a few places are sharp, and a few places are not. The same goes for colours- some places have proper colours, and some places are too faded. I tried all manual and automatic modes. Suppose I am doing anything wrong here. Please help me correct my wrongs. Or is it because there is something wrong with the lens? I am awaiting your response.
may I know how did you remove the silicon glue from the camera? did u using heat gun or something? I tried using screwdriver only, but useless, hard to remove.. thanks
I've had dust on the inside of my G7X lens for months and have watched all the drilling videos, but I am unhappy to carry out the drilling. Then I saw this video and thought I'd give it a try. Picking the glue out was the hardest part for me, it was very hard to shift. Make sure you don't use too much silicon to hold the lens back in, because it can mean the round rubber seal sits too high and affects the 6 piece closing cover. But what a fantastic video, well done.
@@lupfra6514 pro tip: I got to the point where I had to take off the glue. instead of taking off the glue, I found another video online where they actually used a vacuum cleaner hose to suck the dust out he tip of the lens. I used my finger tips to hold the hose about half an inch away from the lens, gave it a little rotation and *poof* the inside of the lens was magically clean. I had a small dog hair inside my lens and it was driving me insane until now.
Thank you for the great video, I have cleaned my canon g7 mark ii front lens and it works. The only thing I have trouble with is the blade doors, they close properly, but dont open again, do you know what I perhaps did wrong. Any help you can give me is much appreciated.
Thanks. You saved me. While I was trying to open the lens, those little pieces went all over and had hard time putting back to its place. If it were not for your vid., I would have assumed that my cam is destroyed. By the way, how much would that lens cost?. Mine has a scratch which shows on the snap when I shoot photo toward light rays.
Hello colleague by profession. I am the same and have started repairing digital ones since 2007. I advise you to get a curved tweezers and a dental tool, a hook for applying springs and so on.
🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️Why i didn’t watch this video before make hole in my camera to clean the lens 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 now is not working 😭😭 😂 by the way great video thanks 😎👍
ou can use a soldering iron and a hairdryer to heat up the main thing if you use a hairdryer up to 200 degrees Celsius and put a narrow nozzle on a hairdryer and the flow of water is minimal, and then only the area where the nozzle is aimed will be projected. and a soldering iron with a supper with a thin sting, move a little along the mount and the whole lens is given and then you can just do it back with glue and not fill it.
Thanks for answering! I never opened a camera before and to be honest, the part of dismantling the shutter seems pretty hard and delicate. I can break my camera if I mess up in this part?
Yes. It is a must to put the 'Silicone Gasket Maker'. Be careful in choosing the kind of glue. You can ask the seller before buying. Thanks for watching!
Hello sir can you help me my canon Power shot g9x wifi camera is not giving the best quality and when I shoot it on video mode in short video the camera gives me best quality as compared to the other modes and when I shoot in sunlight black circles are coming soo how did I do to solve this problem plzz tell me😭.
Great video......but Advice: Take all your ‘jewelry” off your fingers before comencing such an operation - especially when others are supposed to watch it on RUclips.
Omg!!! Never mind!!! The lens was supposed to stay open, how you showed it! My mistake!!! Thanks soooooo much for this video!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you thank you!!!!
If I got this right he puts the silicone for preventing dust from getting inside the camera, so If you don't put the silicone you just have to re clean it and it may be helpful if you realise that you haven't cleaned it properly

does anyone know how to put the lens clamps back on? That's the most difficult part for me haha
I’m having the same issues with the lense blades, do you recommend shaking it side to side ??

Thanks for the first part of the video... I fixed the "blinds" that go stuck.
Glad it helped!
I can't thank you enough for sharing this knowledge, God bless you
I’m going to give it a shot tomorrow but no silicon. Thanks for the tutorial.

Does G5X mark II also share the same strucuter of the one in G7X? Can I do the same to my G5X mark II? Thanks
Thanks for the video. I will take this particular camera apart for the first time

Hey, can you please help me? I have the same camera and I need to clean the lens of it. Did you use the silicon just like the tutorial?
@@Crushtado yes I did. just replace with any glue, but be careful. don't use too much glue.
@@KakFary thanks for answering! One more question, was it difficult to make this tutorial? I'm scared of doing that and breaking my camera :(
Does anyone have a trick on how to get the lens out after the rubber ring? Can't seem to get it out
You have to chip away carefully at the superglue around the lens

Guys, is this glue part mandatory? Will I have trouble if I don’t put it or it’s just a must?
It is a must to put the glue to handle the lens in order not to fall .. thanks for watching!
Thanks for answering! I never opened a camera before and to be honest, the part of dismantling the shutter seems pretty hard and delicate. I can break my camera if I mess up in this part?
Would this be the same procedure on the MK I version?
Fredrik Thorsen yes. It’s the same procedure on the MK 1 version. Thanks for watching!
Great, thank you very much!
Is putting glue necessary? And if so can I just use a standard transparent glue from the dollar store?
Yes. It is a must to put the 'Silicone Gasket Maker'. Be careful in choosing the kind of glue. You can ask the seller before buying.
Thanks for watching!
Thank u! What about the tool used to apply the glue? Could I use any thin material to apply or does it have to be the same tool you use in the video?

I dont know ... in the end the camera had trouble closing... Im not sure if this is a safe way to clean the camera. Maybe the drilling is easier?
thank you
Thank you. unfortunately, my camera lens is glued again, and I cannot remove it.

for the glue, can use another brand? I'm from Indonesia, it's hard to find it 🙂
this seems to be silicone not sure if you already know but don't take glue, its just for no dust being able to go inside if I got it right
