Very informative and mostly very accurate. A few mispronunciations of Tekapo and Wanaka but no big deal. Yes, sandflies can be very annoying especially if you let them bite you. The answer is to use lots of insect repellent (bug spray in the USA), cover as much of your bare skin as possible and they will stay away. The West Coast gets a lot of rain so slips (landslides) are common and having a backup plan is a good idea. Great video. (From a Kiwi.)
You guys this video was awesome!!! SUPER helpful. We’re definitely hoping to visit New Zealand soon! Also the weather and construction issues you guys had 🤯🫠😵💫 we had a similar experience with flies in the outback of Australia and now Caleb is triggered whenever we see one 😂
If you want to save money just skip queenstown and do more hikes instead, while I think the stuff in Queenstown is very cool why not spend more time in thw world class nature
I would like to offer some criticism with your cost breakdown. It would have made a lot more sense present the cost per day for van rental, cost per liter for fuel, etc rather than the total cost
@@TheLoversPassport to people considering their own trip it would be useful information. Viewers don't know if you had the van for each of the ten days you were there, cost for fuel will be different for travelers unless they follow your exact itinerary. I still I think it was a good video, I was only offering criticism to give feedback as a viewer.
Also I’ve been planning a trip in the South Island and every time I’ve looked up the drive into Milford sound from te Anau it’s said about an hour and 45 min MAYBE 2 hours- your experience was 3 hours?!?!
I mean if you get caught behind a slow bus/driver and it's raining it's very easy to get delayed!! Most of the times it was closer to 2-2.5 hours and we did it 4 times.
Cool video! Just a question, when you flew your drone, did you need to logged it on AirShare? And did you need to email or contact local government to fly it? 🙂
Hey! Wages in New Zealand are not great. Everyone that works in hospitality relies on tips to get by. Saying that you don’t need to tip was correct a very long time ago, but these days it simply isn’t true.
We stayed in a home stay and the lady had pot animals in the garden so she could train her guests which ones to run over! Another place their dogs alerted them to Possums in the trees and they would then go out and shoot the Possum and feed it to the dogs and the cat! Hunting, shooting fishing country!
One of the best nz travel guides ive seen. Looking forward to getting back there later this year!
As a Kiwi (New Zealander) you will need a MINIMUM of four weeks for the South Island and about two weeks for the North Island.

Thank you so much! We always try our best with pronunciations but they can be tricky haha
Ah the all so famous 'Table Asman' National Park
You guys do the best guides, full of information and direct to the point + the stuff in the description of the video to help out.
Thank you so much! :)
Great tips! The best travel guide I’ve seen on the South Island. Thanks ✌️
Been wanting to go to New Zealand. I prefer to do van life when traveling so this is perfect for me. Thanks!
You will LOVE IT! It's an incredible country!
Great guide! Very informative and appreciated the price breakdown.

THANKS FRIENDS!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed your visit here. I live in New Zealand and this was very well done.
Thank you! :)

Every traveler has different styles! We like to give a variety of options for everyone :)
@@TheLoversPassport Yup just wanted to point it out as Queenstown is expensive
@@TheLoversPassport Queenstown is so much fun! 😊
Looks sooooo gooood! Which of those would you recommend for kids under 5?
Can you tell me how to get to Table Asman National Park please
This is so informative, but wait, I live here. their is is so much to learn

Just divide the total by 10 days lol - costs look different for everyone and we never look at cost per gallon anywhere we travel tbh

@@Japper- thanks for sharing!
Great video! If hearing “highly recommend” was a drinking game, I would be sloppy drunk by the end of the video 😂
HAHAHA we'll get a thesaurus for next time

Oh also bc of the tunnel closures and stoplight system LOL
In addition to comments above, this drive is exceptionally gorgeous, and you'll want to stop all the time to take photos and take in the views.
Always allow plenty of extra time for travel here in NZ, to allow for a variety of unexpected situations. 😅😊
Where did you guys go kayaking?
@TheLoversPassport what Canon lens was that in 30:26?
That is the RF 100-500mm 🙂
Sweet. Do you ever miss the option to go down to f/2.8 on it?
Cool video! Just a question, when you flew your drone, did you need to logged it on AirShare? And did you need to email or contact local government to fly it? 🙂
We really didn’t fly ours bc the restrictions are so high 🙈 any aerials with the exception of maybe one of the clips are just stock footage!
Hi, I can't seem to locate MT. ASPIRING - WILSON CREEK CANYON on the Google maps along Highway 6. Can you provide grid or exact location?
Wow
Cardfuel in the South Island (verified Feb 2024) no pin needed😎
Ohh great to know!
What app/website did you use for the info on hiking trails?
App is called Plan My Walk new Zealand
The government will not encourage you to run over opossoms, The main thing is not to have a car crash. That is my oppinion.
How were flights so cheap?!?!
We got a flight drop from Thrifty Traveler that alerted us of an insane Delta Skymiles Deal!
So what do you mean you MIGHT need a visa or nzeta to travel to NZ? is that a yes or no? lol

Disagree! I will tip for great service but NOT as a matter of course.
I don't think ANYONE encourages you to hit animals on the road - even possums. Cheapo laugh - and wrong.

Great video, terrible pronunciation 😂
Can't be an expert at everything ;)
