The "LaMat revolver" has always been historically my favorite revolver in history and in any game that uses them. I love how in hunt it does the animation of the hammer switch to enable it to strike the shogun. ..and (I believe also) RDR2 does it as well.
I like it because if its infamous ties with the confederacy. And just how hard it was to get them through the union blockade and into soldiers hands in the states. The few soldiers who used them, had 1 of the best pistols in the war.

Hey! Awesome videos! I know you get suggestions all the time but maybe doing a breakdown off all the different sounds. Gunshots at different distances, different weapons, the difference between a hunter being shot and dying ect. It would be great to get new players acclimated to the subtleties of the game! Either way keep doing what you're doing!
Thanx, these videos are helpfull. Im just getting started on my hunt journey and im enjoying it, even getting killed is teaching me things. Your content is both indepth and informative so thanx and keep it up.
What an awkward moment 8:19 Took you a bit long to switch to the shotgun part there. :D Well a big THANK YOU from me for this video. I really like videos of this kind... comparing stuff, a bit in-depth talking and showcasing. Really well made. I hope there will me be more of these. Would definitely watch it.
Several things: The standard Conversion is one of the best guns to dual wield as it is very accurate, has a fairly high rate of fire and great handling, even though it doesn't stand well on its own. The Chain slows that down and isn't nearly as easy to handle dual wielding. The LeMat may have fewer rounds than the Chain, but with Fanning it fires a much tighter group and is easier to hit with over distance by quite a bit. Also, that shotgun can have other uses now, such as with Star Shell to use as a flare gun or Dragon's Breath to increase its effectiveness close up. The Uppercut definitely has its advantages, but the price makes it a little much for the niche it fills since the new Sparks Pistol came out. Here's my two cents on the newer guns that weren't out when this video was released: The Caldwell 92 New Army is a better Nagant Officer. It has one fewer round but smoother handling and faster fire rate without Fanning, and as a bonus it uses medium ammo (not compact), has more range and power, and can get dum dum bullets to cause bleeding. It also doesn't cost much more than the Officer. The Scottfield is a nice medium gun that can fill the same niche as an Uppercut for a lot less if you must have a revolver (otherwise, the Sparks pistol is more accurate and higher powered for around the same price.) It performs very well over the range it has and while slow firing, is faster to cycle than the Uppercut, and has nearly the same range. In addition, you can also get it in a Brawler variant, a Swift variant that allows use of a speedloader, and a Spitfire variant that shortens the barrel but increases fire rate without too much performance loss. I also find the Precision variant of the Scottfield to be an excellent weapon, easier to score hits with than the Nagant Precision. The Sparks pistol is exactly what it sounds like--a shorter ranged, slightly less accurate Sparks that only needs a small slot. Sights are also slightly different than the rifle and better in my opinion. Reload time is slightly faster than the rifle version, but not by a huge amount. Dual wielded, however, it is very accurate and does major damage if you can hit both shots. Even with just one hit, the Poison ammo you can get with it puts a major hurting on opponents.
Interesting to see how far pistols have come over the updates whilst still keeping fairly in line with these reviews. Especially with the compact ammo buffs, the fanning silenced nagant is extremely powerful in comparison to how it used to be.
comments say you played bad at the LeMat bit, slow switch to shotgun mode etc, even tho that guy just sat there aiming down the stairs like a drooling doofus lol i think the pax claw is really nice for finishing people off. yesterday i looted one and got into a firefight, had no ammo loaded(used a romero and the pax), but the guy was right next to me so was able to give him a good stab with it
I personally prefer the LeMat Revolver because it is quite cheap, you can down other hunters with 2 shots at middle range or with one bullet if they are already wounded from your primary weapon and the shotgun bullet is excellent in close combat.
Holy shit...the caldwell pax used to do 32 damage, now its 110? Also, I got one shotted by a suppressed Nagant after taking out his buddy and I was pretty sad about it...lol. Don't underestimate
All weapons are scary since you could always die by any headshot HP for players now is 200 not 100 anymore, in the video HP was 100 but yes weapon stats were also buffed/nerfed as in the pax here
@@Ownsin Its better in a few areas, handles quicker and shoots quicker, the fanning is way more accurate with much less recoil. Medium ammo had quicker bullet travel speed which made many prefer it with sparks for a while. Not sure if they changed the bullet travel speed thing since then but the uppercut is not just a clear upgrade anymore and some people prefer pax.
its funny, i have had multiple games where the silenced nagant with fanning was the reason i won. even when im packing a double barrel. i would take it any day over the uppercut
the reason the first revolver is called the caldwell conversion is because its a colt (caldwell) revolver converted to use cartridges so dont call every caldwell a conversion pistol
While this video gave a good oversight over the weapons, its just that. Why is mentioned that the caldwell conversion is the rival of the nagant? They are never ever coming close to each other due to the short range and damage of the nagant. The video never mentioned that the nagant needs 3 bullets in the chest, vs the caldwell just needs 2. This is the biggest and most abvious advantage/disadvantage of the weapons, especially for new players who barely are able to headshot properly. Another example is the nagant, the fanning of the weapon isnt just a meme, its a pretty valid choice as it has the best speed next to the lemat. Speaking of the lemat, lots of people use it for the same reason, the fanning is just simply overpowered(aswell the shogtun bullet inside is often used to camp small doors with), and you dont take a lemat if you have a shotgun in your main slot. Just reading out loud what people can see on the stats of these weapons dont really help.
This video is very outdated now, but your comment has a few inaccuracies. After 1.3 the nagant does kill in two shots to upper chest, so it is very close to the conversion. The LeMat is still very weak with fanning. It has a lower speed than most pistols, and the spread is not very impressive either. Not to mention the ready time for the LeMat is longer than other pistols.
@@4FSGaming I just looked at the patchnotes from 1.3, so overall from 73 to 91. So then shouldnt it say the nagant is overall superior to the caldwell because it has one bullet more? Or at what range does it two shot people vs the caldwell? Or is the nagant solely better with fanning because it offers one bullet more? Now these questions are totally irrelevant now, also i dont know why youtube recommends me an almost 1 year video, but its a bad guide that doesnt answer most of the basic questions. Just reading out loud the stats of a weapons doesnt help me really.
You did the chain revolver dirty but not mentioning how amazing it is when you dual wield it. 34 shots and a high fire rate, you basically have a machine gun
Really nice video overall, but I have to admit that you underestimate greatly the potential of the Nagant Silencer. Or at least, there is more to say about it. Without fanning, yes... Mostly a tool that able you to move fast and silently gaining strategic advantage against others teams. Wich is, already good provided you have a versatile main weapon that does not need that much a backup (winfield type, or even bolt action rifles with bayonnette if you are confident with melee if you get caught at close range). But with fanning, ho boy, it's not a meme weapon at all. Once mastered it's as good as a shotgun (short romero or any caldwell rival) for short range (up to a bit less than 10m)... Provided you have only one target to kill as you do not have ammo for two kills and reload is long. For ambushes it's great, you can manage to get a kill without reaviling your position usually put the remaining teammate in panic mode as he does not have the usual gun shot sound to pin point your location. To follow up after a dynamite or a firebomb, works well also. Against monster now, with fanning you can dispatch packs of dogs with ease and no danger. You can kill silently waterdevils allowing route that nobody can use. (it cost 7 shots plus one melee attack, it need practice but really doable). Against bosses it's also great to dispatch them silently. Really easy with the butcher. Using a combo of melee and fanning when you do not have stamina anymore you gain a lot of time. For the spider, even better, with the low recoil and the way it stay put while screaming before attacking, you can do 7 headshots in a second, and then have time to reload while it goes away. A bit less good against the assassin as you tend to lack ammo to prevent attack, but with proper use of lantern and carefull use of ammo, it's okay. Overall, great gun, for tactical purposes and very valid short range weapon if you have fanning.
Also... The derringer is greater than you may think. According to the game stat sheet, it's more powerfull than the bornheim, and I've not went through testing this but I do believe it's true at short range. Also the firerate is amazing. Really good paired with a slow firing gun that almost kill someone. Like a vetterli, mosin or sparks, as you just need to score one more hit to kill a hunter and with the firerate it's really easy. Or even low ammo capacity shotgun like romero or caldwell rival when your target is bleeding but not quite dead yet. And as it's a tool, I believe you even have it faster in your hand. It unlock some unconventional yet effective builds.
It’s probably just me but I don’t like the dolch at all. I caint seem to hit anything in iron sights and the recoil is too stiff for fast firing. Would rather take the bohemian or 17 shot cadwell any day.
DarthAlvarez I’m happy that you have a good story like that, but one exceptional circumstance does not automatically make the weapon fantastic. With enough distance, the 1895 silencer turns into a pea shooter
@@4FSGaming Isnt like projectilespeed, damage distance falloff, penetration falloff and ammo scarcity tied or to or atleast heavely influenced by ammo type? And you do mention 2 or 3 times ammo type, and when you say that pax is underwhelming note that it is very useful since it's the only medium ammo revolver making it a good sidearm with a Vetterli and fanning otherwise you would have to have a Dolch(if you want more ammo) so if you have fanning it would be better to get pax IMO and while you are at it why not the melee kind?
The only stat directly tied to ammo type as of build 1.1 is the penetration. Everything else is determined by the stats of the individual weapon, even the scarcity of ammo, and how much you pick up in each crate/box, is determined by the total reserve ammo of your weapons. At the start of early access, things like damage drop off and hit zone damage were regulated by ammo type not weapon, but this has slowly changed over time.
r3l1csvk ya the chain pistol is really good with fanning but without it’s just average I dont have the dolce unlocked yet but if I’m a level 1 hunter I take the bornhiem in for the fast rate of fire until I get enough points for fanning then I switch over to the chain pistol after one round of farming or maybe getting lucky and getting the bounty and a few kills while I’m at it lol
r3l1csvk as soon as you have 7 unlock points tho I usually go straight for fanning and grab the chain pistol for the next round it’s won me so many 1v2 fights that I would’ve lost with any other gun because the chain pistol has so much ammo you can just spam fan everyone lol
You should talk about the amount of body shots to kill. comparing the caldwell rival and the nagant m1895 without talking about how one is two shots to the body and the other three seems kind of weird.
The uppercut has a slower projectile travel time and reload, making it slightly weaker, and the dolch has higher recoil, is much more expensive, and now uses special ammo (but has more reserves). It is still extremely strong, just a lot less common.
The reason why it’s so powerful is this. The thing it was converted from was a HORSE PISTOL. It was literally meant to reliably kill horses in a single shot.
damn, it gave me this video like 1 year late, the Nagant alone has been overhauled from 26 damage to 91 and quick swap has been nerfed, a new video would be dope tho
I know this is meant to be a bit of a quick look at the sidearms, but I feel like you could, and should, go deeper for each gun. You don't talk about Ammo types (Compact,Medium,Long) , Hip-Fire Accuracy , Shots to kill at different distances, Guns the sidearms pair well with, How well they penetrate, etc. I suppose this information is better suited to an more in-depth video, but I dont feel like you represent each gun well enough without it. For example, I think you undersell the pax quite a bit for how good of a gun it is (especially at the time of unlock). Saying "It has nowhere near the range/damage than the uppercut has" doesnt really do it justice, considering that it almost always kills in the same number of shots that the uppercut takes. Not to mention the hip-fire accuracy on the Pax is significantly better than the uppercut, making fanning at longer distances more reliable. The Pax is a really good budget gun, doing nearly everything the uppercut does at a third of the price.
@@EricWalding I'm kind of surprised there don't seem to be any webley's, or a martini henry or even lee enfield as I believe the first of those came out in 1895 exactly haha. A webley would strike me as being a very good revolver to add for that fast reload compared to basically every other revolver. Martini Henry would just be satisfying as fuck, and the magazine lee enfield could honestly just be OP tbh
At 1:25 whole you’re talking about the Nagant officer you’re just reloading your gun while your partner is dead and burning xD bahahaha (btw) you can run yo yo your partner and simple press F for a second to stop burning, then you can make sure you’re safe to Rez.

Now these questions are totally irrelevant now, also i dont know why youtube recommends me an almost 1 year video, but its a bad guide that doesnt answer most of the basic questions. Just reading out loud the stats of a weapons doesnt help me really.
Interesting how the Dolch now uses special ammo
Thanks for this video.
Although I am wondering, do people actually know that the Dolch is not spelled "Doltsch"?
@@VeganerHippie Like most languages.
I was just curious, because it sounds so weird.
I thought it was supposed to be a Mauser c96
You did the chain revolver dirty but not mentioning how amazing it is when you dual wield it. 34 shots and a high fire rate, you basically have a machine gun
Can we get a 2021 update?
Could you do an updated video for this?
Each to their own, it kicks even more in the 1.0 update.
Heyyy I just wrote a comment about the long black screen after your video ... and now you reuploaded !
Thanks, that will teach me to hit publish immediately before going to bed. - Ascendance
We need an updated video of all these gun reviews man …
I was so confused why everything did such a low damage but I just realized this video was from 3 years ago lol
Sharps/Pax is my preferred
After the release update the Pax is to cheap to ignore and the Uppercut to expensive to bother with.
Everytime I get shot with a silenced nagant I ask myself "is someone using a BB gun?"
You said to pair the Nagant 1895 Silencer with Fanning as a meme, but I actually used it to wipe a two teams in a match while my partner was down...
DarthAlvarez I’m happy that you have a good story like that, but one exceptional circumstance does not automatically make the weapon fantastic. With enough distance, the 1895 silencer turns into a pea shooter
Caldwell conversion does more damage then than nagant. will one shit a zombie in the chest out to ten metres
@@chiefbungalow I desperately want to fix that but its to good, I have to leave it
@@robertbradford8210 Update 2021: Still says one shit
You REALLY should note the ammo type, has to do with quite a bit of the usefulness of the weapons.
Almost all characteristics are tied to the weapon, not ammo type.
At the start of early access, things like damage drop off and hit zone damage were regulated by ammo type not weapon, but this has slowly changed over time.
ok,now i know for what pistol i will be aiming at the atart to get asap-chain pistol.
r3l1csvk ya the chain pistol is really good with fanning but without it’s just average I dont have the dolce unlocked yet but if I’m a level 1 hunter I take the bornhiem in for the fast rate of fire until I get enough points for fanning then I switch over to the chain pistol after one round of farming or maybe getting lucky and getting the bounty and a few kills while I’m at it lol
r3l1csvk as soon as you have 7 unlock points tho I usually go straight for fanning and grab the chain pistol for the next round it’s won me so many 1v2 fights that I would’ve lost with any other gun because the chain pistol has so much ammo you can just spam fan everyone lol
Should do an update
You should talk about the amount of body shots to kill. comparing the caldwell rival and the nagant m1895 without talking about how one is two shots to the body and the other three seems kind of weird.
Not one of these weapons have stats that make any fucking sense whatsoever in terms of real-world counterparts and I love it.
Dolch 96 is Special Ammo now, isn't it?
It is indeed, however it comes with 5 more reserve rounds
Where do you find special ammo in the map? I have difficulty finding ammo for the Dolche.
How do you fan the hammer with revolvers?
with the faning perk
@4FS Gaming: Are there any mentionable changes to the sidearms since the release of this video?
The uppercut has a slower projectile travel time and reload, making it slightly weaker, and the dolch has higher recoil, is much more expensive, and now uses special ammo (but has more reserves). It is still extremely strong, just a lot less common.
8:55 best aim ever ever , Ninja Cry if see it xDD but np good video
The last gun fight
Wait... was damage of the pistols THAT low??
Bro we about to throw hands with you talking about my Caldwell like this.
love the meme fight at the end
Nagant Silent... yeah got killed many times when the guy had a fanning lol.... fanning is a bit random he got his hits first lel.
1. Strongest: Uppercut
2. Coolest: Uppercut
3. Best price: Uppahcuut
The reason why it’s so powerful is this. The thing it was converted from was a HORSE PISTOL. It was literally meant to reliably kill horses in a single shot.
@@baker90338 ahaa, so is the uppercut the equivelent of the colt dragoon pistol?
USEFULLNESS It is a converted Walker I think
For the moment, Nagant officer is my favourite ^^
What does fanning mean?
Fanning is a trait unlocked early on that allows you to rapidly fire single action revolvers from the hip.
How do you fan your revolver
These are fantastic
damn, it gave me this video like 1 year late, the Nagant alone has been overhauled from 26 damage to 91 and quick swap has been nerfed, a new video would be dope tho
Great content, keep it up!
Cheers! - Ascendance
Lemat mk2 has been my bread and butter since this game released on xbone, (xbox one)
will you make the gun animation showcase for this game? the all reload sequence
When is this game supposed to be set? Like what year exactly?
1895
@@EricWalding I'm kind of surprised there don't seem to be any webley's, or a martini henry or even lee enfield as I believe the first of those came out in 1895 exactly haha. A webley would strike me as being a very good revolver to add for that fast reload compared to basically every other revolver. Martini Henry would just be satisfying as fuck, and the magazine lee enfield could honestly just be OP tbh
The title: All sidearms and *sidearms*
Can you do an updated video
At 1:25 whole you’re talking about the Nagant officer you’re just reloading your gun while your partner is dead and burning xD bahahaha (btw) you can run yo yo your partner and simple press F for a second to stop burning, then you can make sure you’re safe to Rez. The only time this doesn’t work is when the body is still sitting in a pool of fire
A New Version of this please!
Why have the guns only a ⅓ of its damage?
love this guys info, but i roll my eyes every time he calls the mag a clip -_-
dmg has been changed or smth? all stats are different to me.
Plenty of changes have been made since 1.0
I wish we'd get the Colt Single Action Army and the M1887 Lever-action shotgun
it's crazy the game doesn't have the Colt in it. It's like the most famous revolver ever made
the pax is based on the colt SAA
I don’t like dual wielding pistols bc they tend to not hit ever
simply awesome😆😆😮😮😮
