- Sometimes new players start using tactics and gear that may seem very strong, but actually puts them at a disadvantage. This guide looks at some of these "noob traps".
Silenced Weapons
The Heavy Knife
The Chain Pistol
Sniper Towers
Unnecessarily Killing Sound Traps
Remember I'm not saying these are always bad, but are associated with mistakes made by new players.

I'm playing trios with a friend who loves alarm mine + red barrel combo. He has been killing a lot of hunters. Not many enemies, but a lot of hunters nonetheless...
Hunters are your enemies :D
Haha! It's like my friend who always put super random traps in the middle of a forest or compound even when there's no enemy nearby or that were d9ing the boss and 75% of the time it only gets me, it really pisses me off big time, him and his fu**** traps.
After prestiging you need to use those traps to unlock things, so I just place them randomly on obvious trails, in the grass, at vaultable fences, bridges, supply points, sniper positions. Damn it feels good to hear that trigger sound followed by death scream.
I fell victim to this last night in fact. super cheeky
Can confirm, teammates run into my traps much more often than enemies do. Hell even I forget where I place em during an intense fight.
So we just assuming no one uses the electric lamp
I mean you need to use it to unlock fuses and flare pistol.... just don’t turn the damn thing on
*brings lamp every game*
Are you sure about that?
There is one great use for the lamp. Some players really don't like the use of Nvidia filters to brighten up night maps, but if you flash the light on most people with filters won't be able to see a thing, it's too bright!
4FS Gaming Can you get banned for using those?
@@andrewpotamitis8725 i have all that unlocked im still just gonna squint real hard
Be mindful of what Perks you take, and how they complement your playstyle. Too long to list every one but something REALLY obvious:
Don't take Quartermaster AND Fanning on the same Hunter. You can't fan any medium/large slot weapons, so no matter what loadout you take, you're wasting a perk.
Also, if you are concerned about soundtraps, Beastface is your friend for moving quickly and quietly. Light-step and Kiteskin pair beautifully as well, keeping your mobility high.
And regarding the Silenced Nagant, even with Fanning, it's better to think of it as a Tool. You can potshot grunts and hives, sure, and even Fan some bosses. But it's main utility is misdirection. Assuming you're far enough away from Hunters you're stalking, you can set off distant noise traps like crows or dogs. Or if they're being sneaky, poke that Meathead or Armored, and make their day more interesting. Just remember to have a primary weapon that can handle the rest.
The ABSOLUTE best is seeing a hunter sneaking through 2 meat heads and hitting them with a silent nagant poison shot and watch them get gang-gang-ed by the meatheads
Counterpoint: abuse the silenced nagants' disgusting hipfire spread and poison ammo to ensure your opponent can't heal and will want to kill themselves if the poison ammo doesn't do it. Additionally, the poison ammo will attract meatheads.
to make their day even more interesting, tag a immolator near them.
About killing sound traps I thought you were going to call out that you might want them alive for when other players show up, especially if they totally block off an angle of approach to the boss compound and either have to be triggered or destroyed, making noise, or avoided, funneling other players down more limited paths when they try to come after your banishment.
Another great point!
I'd say this applies to killing everything in your path too, whether with a silenced weapon or throwing knives or even melee. When I'm stalking a team waiting for the chance to assassinate someone, especially when I'm playing as a solo, it's extremely easy to keep up with them without being detected if they kill the shit out of everything instead of just avoiding what they can. Also gives me the chance at a kill I've been waiting for when they start killing an armored or especially an immolator.
it has two sides. Sure you'll hear enemies if they trigger kennels, but smarter enemies will trigger them with silenced weapon or decoys and will be coming from the opposite side, and while you will be distracted to the side where dogs barking, dogs will be too loud for you to hear enemy's REAL position from their steps.(you won't hear steps over barking) so you basically leaving yourself deaf to the enemies real position over 1 sound alerttrap, that just won't shut up after they trigger it.
absolutely love hearing ode to joy in the background
Hey thats what I was about to write! :D
My two tipps are:
Speed is sometimes more important than stealth; if you are chasing a group of bounty carriers who do a full sprint to the exit, don’t do the extra mile trying to not trigger the crows. They will most likely escape.
You don’t allways need to melee an AI: Don’t be afraid to shoot the ai if they are messing with you while fighting someone else. If you missing some hits on the group of dogs charging at you and you run out of stamina, shoot them. It’s better to give away your position then dying anyway to them.
Making some sound killing the dogs with a gun might get you killed but in many cases new players are certainly going to die trying to melee a pack of 4.
It is better to be loud in a good position, than to be silent in a bad one.
It's important to consider there are different playstyles and making noise isn't always bad. If you can move quickly from compound to compound and get to the clue before others that's fine, so long as you're able to understand the flow of the map and the speed at which other players can get to where you seem to be indicating your going. It may be easier for a new player to play quietly but I see all too many hunters even after a thousand hours think that's the only way to play because that's what they were taught in the beginning.
This game uses sound heavily and its important to understand that sound can be both a hindrance and a tool to be manipulated. You can avoid it or you can use it to draw in hunters how you want them. Often time we'll make noise in compounds but not between them, which draws teams to that compound allowing us to turn around and third party if we hear them fighting behind us. Everyone's afraid they will make too much noise and get one shot by a sniper who is just watching them but if you move from compound to compound quickly and scout out spawns that are nearest then you should never be caught out early game.
I was just going to comment on how I've had a lot of success just moving very quickly but very carefully from clue to clue. If I hear a lot of action/presence in a match then usually I spritz right in on my first and second clue and use a little more caution by the 3rd, since by this point most players will be closing in around it. Seems to work right most times. Sometimes you get zapped right on the first clue, but sometimes better sooner than later, right? lol
Doesnt seem like it should take longer than 15 minutes to find a boss, but the time it takes to get out of there safely could take much longer depending on what you want to do with that information; banishing or not.
Avoid sound traps but don't destroy them. You never know when that very same trap will signal a enemy team coming in. Especially when banishing.
As someone else mentioned in the comments already, this is a double edged sword. They can trigger soundtraps and retreat and use the sound to take other paths. I trust my headset on steps more than soundcues in the distance
Something I always have to tell new people is that crouching does not eliminate walking noise, just dampens it. Also, if you can hear someone walking/running/crouching then they are in range to hear you do the same.
Finally someone complain about chain pistol, I’ve abandoned it for a long time, I would rather take normal conversion than that. You can land your shots only if your enemy is on your face.
A regular single action nagant performs even better, now that it takes 2 shots to kill.
I usually go for a trusty Pax with fanning, chain pistol brings back many bad memories of X-Com 2 accuracy...
I think it's the master weapon for close environments with a fanning. IE: Most banishing locations.
Players who permanently tether themselves to you during the game. Seriously. Spread out! There’s almost no advantage to being 1 meter away from your teammate in this game.
Nothing better than having your partner push enemies right into your position because you are on opposite sides of a compound.
I've killed teams of 3 with one grenade because they didn't obey this rule.
Depends really, a lot of time the time it's power in numbers. If you are at opposite ends of the compound and someone gets 1v3d then you can get picked off one by one. As well as this, for newer players who don't land many intentional headshots, most guns within med range are two hit downs to the chest (largest hitbox), so if you both hit one target they will almost certainly die. I have over 1000 hours on the game, and the amount of teams iv'e killed just because the team splits up too much is insane. Granted you shouldn't be right on top of eachother, but in my opinion you should be close enough to shoot the same target, if needs be. When you get more confident in your aiming, game sense, and map knowledge, you can split up a bit more.
Last nights game our teammate got a triple kill with one fragbomb, perfect too because they had just finished extracting lol
I had to learn this the hard way on a few matches, but leaving sound traps intact and AI enemies alive at a boss compound is a GODSEND when getting ready to banish. Odds are that the average random team will try to rush you once you start the ritual, so anything you can use to keep them distracted or give away their position will buy you those extra precious seconds to land a headshot or escape with the bounty.
My personal pet peve that most new players do is, crouch all the time everywhere, even in combat, to be "stealthy", and tbh I did this alot to when I was new to the game and thsts probably why it triggers me so ^^. Crouching ofc has it's time and place but it's imo super important for new players to learn when not to crouch and when to asap.
Yeah, this is a big one! I've covered it at length in a few other vids, so didn't want to sound like a broken record, but it's a top tier tip.
My only tip for the game is don’t abandon the Winfield immediately after unlocking the sparks or other long and medium ammo guns the Winfield is great at all levels of the game and because of its slower velocity can teach you the crucial leading mechanic you need to win fights.
Winfield is a competitive choice for any fight within a compound
I personally have great success all around but it will def fall off in the longest of battles but those are rare if you push and flank properly
While I do agree that the Heavy knife is poorly advertised as a straight upgrade I feel that it has a few positive characteristics that when used effectively can make up for the negatives. First on armoreds you don't need to use a full stamina bar, as 2 heavies and 1 light to the head will bring it down. Second, is the heavy attack has an area of effect meaning you can hit multiple enemies at once. Against dogs I find this can be quite useful if you can bait the pack into attacking as a group you can take them down more quickly than using the normal knife. Finally against hunters there isn't much of a difference if you're going for headshots or if you've already hit the target before going in for the stab, but the heavy knives heavy into light attack feels more consistent for quickly killing hunters than the basic knife. That might just be a preference for the heavy knife hitbox on my part which definitely takes some getting used to. Great video, I look forward to more in the future. :)
appreciate the counter point on the heavy knife. the beauty of this game is that most items are situational, and its cool to see some of the points you bring up against specific npc/hunters
Another issue with the heavy knife is the noise it makes... it makes the same noise as a machete which can be heard across compounds and is very distinct. Having silent killer with a normal knife for example will let you sneak up and one hit grunts with a heavy attack. And the only noise that will be heard assuming you sneak up on the grunt is the death should and body hitting the floor. The heavy knife has its rending slash noise added to its heavy attack that is very loud and if you need to just kill one grunt as you pass through it will be heard by most of the compound and surrounding area unfortunately
@@andrewpotamitis8725 That's a good point. But why would you use heavy attack on a grunt anyway? The whole point is that you can slash them down with 1 light in the head w/ big knife. And once you need to start spamming heavies say vs an armored I think your position is given away in a compound regardless of which knife it is.
6. Always buying most expensive weapons.
I found myself without any money at least 2 times. I'm in love with Lebel so I prefer to buy it and play with it basically always, when I have it unlocked.
If you have really bad luck and can't live long enough to earn some money from bounty, you will end up recruiting new legendary hunters, giving them Lebels/Mosins over and over again and finally spending all your money, so only option to play is taking free recruits with trash weapons or buying them cheapest stuff.
Economy in this game is more important for avarage player than you can think.
I started out with 10k and now have 22k after playing only 4 days. I’ve never had to worry about my budget: I buy whatever I want and often bring more than I need. That being said, economy isn’t a huge issue in this game imho. It’s much more important to bring what will give you an edge on other players and maximize your chances of survival as this will grow your economy the fastest.
@@polaroidsky As I said - "for average player". If your tactic is so good that you always get out of Bayou alive or win all the time, that's great. For you.
My group just prefer to fight. To take a risk.
Sometimes we're out of luck and die even without knowing who is shooting and where from. Sometimes we're making bad play and die like ants under shoe. And sometimes we are the winning ones.
I can count our "survive without bounty" situations on one hand.
That said, don't be so careful that you never spend your money on decent guns
shooting immediately upon spotting instead of waiting til the opponent is in a field or exposed
bringing fire bombs with the intent of using them offensively
falling for alert red barrels or just standing near one
2:19 I believe that hive might be flirting with you.
It was trying to show me a bit much.
Best comment of the internet ever!
I love the Knuckle Knife for its overall versatility. You might say the butt of your gun can do the same thing, but tell that to my stamina bar
I still prefer buying knife and dusters seperately. It takes 2 slots obviously, but finally it costs less and is more effective for me. Throwing knives and 1 set of trap mines and I'm ready to go.
@@Richter5 are you telling me you dont take a first aid kit? Oh dear...
Ah, yeah, I forgot about that :P I always take a 1st aid kit. Rest depends on secondary weapon.
If I play with pistol, I take knife, dusters, 1st aid kit and throwing knives.
If I play with saber, I take dusters, throwing knives, 1st aid kit and trap mines.
Thanks for showing me my mistake in previous post :)
My Loadout for gear is typically first aid kit, knife (or dusters if I take something that has the same function of a knife) alert mines, and blank fire decoys. Tools I use 2x vitality shots, choke bomb and sticky bomb. But I'm starting to take the choke bomb away cause I've learner of better ways to deal with the butcher
I'm a knucky dee man. People see a man putting away his gun and charging towards them with a clenched fist raised, sunlight shimmering with a brass hue from his knuckles. They fear that man. They fear he knows something they do not.
I literally fell into each one of these traps in the beginning..great video
New players shooting the immolators or throwing lanterns to the butcher
I just started this game like literally first prestige and I have never done that and it pisses me off so bad. Seen so many people kill themselves or others this way
My friend used to do this all the time until I got on his ass for it
Well the impact of the lantern actually does damage to the butcher
@@ukm_shadowzz2160 I mean how much 5 hit point... It's meaningless better just grab an axe get on his back and fuck him up
Man, spot on. My friend was bringing silenced nagant + romero (before compact ammo buff). These weapons combination was useless on anything past 20m. If only he took pax, it would be killer combination. Also, when I heard hunters and crouched, he came right next to me, and instead of trying to figure out where they are, he started shooting all zombies around :)
Keep it up guys, I started playing a few weeks ago, and this channel has helped me a lot.
It’s so fun
Glad to help!
PSA 4SF gaming, the heavy knife can take out an armoured with two heavies and one light, leaving you with one slash remaining. Also I know it wasn't knowledge at the time of making this video, but as of 1.4.2 you can one shot dogs with a light to the head.
I've been messing around with the heavy knife since the update, and I'd say despite being slightly better than before it is still a downgrade to the normal knife, if for PvP alone.
On the subject of immolators, team composition is important. In 3s having one person with a duster be "the immolator guy" is great as it let's you quickly clear them and move on.
As a nub, game is pretty enjoy able when play with friends, best as three. We gotta come up with creative strats and baits to make up for our lack of experience against the seasoned players....
Tis working out pretty efficiently
One thing that annoys me that some players do (new or veteran) is clear out all the AI in a boss compound.
For me the AI works as a solid sound trap to enemies trying to sneak in during banishing, forcing the opponents to either take a different route in or exposing themselves by triggering/killing the AI
Another good one!
except if you don't clear them out, enemies can use those sound traps against you as well. They can trigger your 'cleverly' left out sound trap on purpose on one side, so you'll direct all of your attention to it, like kennels, and while it's 'alerting' while being too loud, you'll miss the enemies steps from where they are really coming, cause you can't hear shit after kennels are triggered. If all compound AI is all dead it's way easier to hear steps, even if they're crouching, than if you leave stomping meatheads, screeching hives, and grunting grunts. Sure you'll hear the initial trigger(which again is not necessary the *real* enemy position) but after trigger, you are basically deaf to enemy further movements.
@@tramrant 1. Yes, players can use sound as a lure. But they don't need the AI for that. There is running, jumping, shooting, and two different types of decoy to just direct player focus at a desired direction.
2. All those sounds have very distinct rhythms, which I don't know about you, but I can hear and separate AI sounds from player sounds. Also if they aggro an AI, they are less likely to crawl around (due to aggroing AI. DUH!), but instead running around/closer to us, which is very easy to hear through the AI noise due to running and jumping being so, so loud.
I leave the meatheads some hives and try not to kill many.
In my experience, leaving a Hive alive on the boss building is always a terrible idea, because they seem to be able to wall bang
My biggest peeve is when a teammate shoots the lantern above chickens or dogs with an unsilenced weapon. Like what was the point? Enemies have a chance of hearing those traps when triggered or killed, but are DEFINITELY going to hear the gunshot no matter where they are in the map
If I'm planning to post up in that compound it's worth it just to not have that constant sqwauking while I'm trying to pinpoint the incoming teams.
@@Illegiblescream thats understandable, I mostly mean when a random partner does it right at the first compound when im trying to be stealthy and listen for other teams
I usually carry both dusters and a knife. Dusters are good for clearing out lots of small enemies very quickly without running out of stamina. I carry the knife for rushing hunters.
Knuckle knife is awesome. Quickly takes down just about everything and is pretty stamina efficient. One shots hellhounds to the head too.
I'm 2000 hours in with me kd of 2.2 I love new players I take them under my wing I train them with this method
1. We pick a free loadout and run to the first building
2.i put my concertina traps down and we shoot riot
3.other players think we're killing the boss we are not
4.then they run in at us thinking we don't have a clue we kill them
5 .we take there good loadout and away we go
During this process there practicing there headshots on all the grunts
Ps I do this solo sooo fun
Sounds like you are playing vs new players as well then if this works. As it's pretty easy to tell if it's a boss lair or not before running in.
my favorite gun to use fanning with is the coldwell swift as a backup to any single shot weapon
its a panic button if someone gets too close and you miss your shot on your rifle
or its the perfect compound clearing tool
peak, spam, run away to the other corner of your cover, by the time youre there, youve got 6 new rounds ready to go.
You mean the Scottfield Swift. Caldwell doesn't have those variants (as of September 2022)
@@Hapetiitti yes you are correct, im still pretty new so im still learnig the names
Shotbolt and chain pistol with fanning is my love. Have to watch my positioning in the forests, and avoid getting caught out in the open. But I've been solo in a trios server and taken out 6 hunters in less than 10 seconds with that combo getting pushed by both teams at once XD When I do play with the squad I'm the vanguard assaulting the compound 11 out of 10 times. Spent enough time with the loadout that I can even flick some LONG shot kills with that shotbolt. Even surprise myself sometimes lol
Great video as always. My cousin bought this game for me to draw me in and yours was one of the channels that helped me get started.
Also, the heavy Knife will hit ALL npc's or hunters in front of you... one swing can hit multiple threats. So taking on that pack of hounds can be done in a few swings. Sure, it takes more stamina but its output can be invaluable when you get swarmed. I prefer the wider range if attack and like the sound trap suggestion, stamina isn't the end of the world if you minimise your impact on the game world
My tip: be aware of ally positions, as to not shoot or throw bombs at their feet.
I think a mistake i made a lot when i was new was killing everything in the compound before killing the boss. Its better to leave everything you can around the boss lair to make it harder for enemy hunters to come to the banishment.
Lol the dog pen sound traps thing is so obvious yet i still always destroy them! Its kind of just become a habit, this put me in check 😂
Not communicating with your team. Honest to god, I made a plan with my team to utilize a sound trap to our advantage. I ran into the boss compound while there was banishment going on, hitting the sound trap on the way in. I opened fire like mad at the boss house and drew the ire of all three hunters inside. Once I had their attention, my partners rushed from another side, both with shotguns, both getting into the building as I lit the place up with tons of noise. A chaos bomb and me opening fire from cover with a fanned chain pistol absolutely hid their approach and three shotgun shots later they were dead. Never, ever underestimate how you can use sound as a weapon. Sometimes you just gotta be loud to be quiet. They can't hear your footsteps if all they hear is gunfire.
I used to use silenced weapons to help power level those weapon line before I switched to using the duster/knife to weaken enemies then finishing them off with a weapon melee.
Silenced Nagant is surprisingly effective for general use when you consider it's ammo capacity and how good the sights are (especially compared to the silenced Winfield or sparks). it's also a useful way to trigger immolators near hunters from a fair distance since it doesn't (or didn't at least, haven't had time to play for a bit) make much noise past about 50-60m.
I like to use silencers to pop off birds or barrels on the other side of a compound, to split the attention of a group I'm stalking.
Heavy knife can kill multiple dogs in a heavy attack (just needs to be line up correctly). I still use the heavy knife for armor (require less swings to kill) and small zombies.
I've had a few "Divine Intervention" encounters with players running at me with the chainpistol lol
Love the reference
THIS WAS DIVINE FUCKIN INTERVENTION VINCENT
That's what my friends and I call "being God's idiot"
@@falconofthenight008 :-D
Im a very knew player but it dawned on me pretty early on that if i silence sound traps in a compound and have to hold it down for the boss/banish, the sound traps can no longer alert ME to other hunters
Mlg l33t pro tip : axe is the best weapon. Why? oneshots players. cuts down locked doors. kill bosses really quickly. cheap af. scary af
You might think im memeing, and ya, a little bit, but i've honestly had some amazing matches jus running the axe and a silenced nagant. its nuts.
Very good video mate, I just started Hunt a few days ago playing with my cousin, it's honestly so much fun, and terrifying sneaking about xD manage to double dip on my fifth game, so we got both bounties and killed all teams but a solo (who we got extracted from). Yeah Hunt is very very good. I'm quite aggressive in my playstyle, so this game is really nice in forcing me to play differently.
Chain gun, armored bullets,, do holes in a building. This works quite good.
Dusters work good for dogs if you can headshot them. Insta kill. I wait till they jump and hit them before they bite. Works every time.
(500 hour s on hunt Pc- 75 hours on PS4, i love the nagant presion and sawed off springfield, it brings me joy to drop tier 3s with 2000 hunt dollars loadouts with a 200 hunt dollar loadout. Thats right im a tier one main #dontatme
I know you mentioned it in the video but I’d have to say the most frustrating thing about playing with randoms is when they stay waaaaay too close to you. It can be infuriating when I’m either trying to be stealthy or listen closely to a noise I heard, and all I can hear is my teammate stomping literally 3 steps behind me. Even had one guy do it on a night map with his damn flashlight on me the whole time, needless to say we extracted early that round lol
The topic of whether or not to kills kennels/chickens is such an interesting topic to me. A similar question is whats worse, a lot of flair pistols going off in succession or 1 pistol shot? I think the answer boils down to how long are the dogs going to go off for? Are you triggering them once as your run past, or is there a clue on the other side of the fence from them?
also if you set of a dog/hen pen and have no silent weapon to destroy the lantern just leave em be and get out of dodge the sounds they make lasts so loong so if an enemy team starts moving in on the compound you are loong gone.
BTW the silenced variants don't do less damage, they do the same damage, but have less muzzle velocity and drop off faster, so they have a lower effective range.
This means they do significantly less damage at almost all ranges.
New players need to go out and get in fights and shoot zombies they need the practice aiming.
I love playing with new players, one it's a challenge two, I enjoy helping them out come out with a win.
1:35 yes but also no. Stealth weapons can be used to break windows & scare crows from angles outside of your own approach. Forcing your enemy to waste darksight boost and put guns down could save you & pinpoint them if a teammate is doing it for you.
2:30 the strongsuit of the heavy knife is that you can use a light attack instead of a heavy, which is a lot quieter overall. Heavy melees can be heard throughout a compound. Its faster as all light vs heavy hits but in essence youre saving yourself getting Silent Killer for 5 trait points in trade for versatility & stamina efficiency.
Heavy knife is God teir on console. The swipe heavy attack makes it much easier to hit people with. Sure less range but when your on controller the swipe matters a lot more.
Some of my friends are new and it’s super funny because they call out every gunshot and act surprised when I dont
Also they really like heavy knives for some reason
People always forget they can still ADS with the chain at medium range.
Silenced winnie with levering is hilariously good thanks to the light ammo buff.
It's still just worse than a normal winnie with levering though.
but it’s sneakier :)
Well, I would say to never use fanning outside a 10m range, regardless of it being with a chain pistol or pax or whatever. I often found myself winning gunfights because I kept calm, used ADS and landed two precise shots, while my enemy was spraying with fanning like a madman and (obviously) missed most shots.
Crouch walking every damn time in open fields. Trying to be super stealthy everywhere. Crouch walking in water, to a compound they heard people in it. Too much hugging roofs. Not using their consumables: "i wont use this vit shot, i maybe use it later!". Why later is a noob trap? Well, they usually follow some guides or friend advices on consumables and bring right consumables, but they are never using them. So i think new players should use consumables that they don't fear to use. Maybe bring 2 small vit shots and 2 firebombs for 18 dollars. So you still be useful and burn bodies.
I do like the silenced weapons when I'm zombie farming. Find a clue, stay in the black areas, and just farm. It ain't much but it's honest work.
I like to run an uppercut sidearm and then swap it out with a fanning chain pistol if i manage to survive the round and have limited short range firepower like a sparks. I shake my head when I have a mosin nagant / uppercut and hear new players tell me "don't worry bro I got this I have fanning and levering" while they're carrying a silenced Winnie/ silenced nagant. Those players usually make so much noise anyways that the silenced weapons just hurt their loadout.
I have watched a few of your Hunt videos now & happen to love the advice and content!
Much appreciated!
See ya in the swamp!
I use dusters for stamina. 10 heavy hits will get you out of almost any ai situation. I can't count how many times I've been swarmed by 5+ grunts or multiple armoreds, and anything that runs you out of stamina in 4 hits or less just doesn't cut it. I haven't tried the knuckle knife too much yet, but that also seems like a good option if you want to conserve stamina but also be able to hit hard.
I agree with most things said in this video, chain pistol is good for close range fight like hiding behind door and wait for someone to open the door, i agree with you on best choice for fanning too, normal caldwell and silenced nagant are the best for that, before 1.0 chain was good and also lemat, now lemat is bad, pax is still good too, and knife part is good explained too, i am more about dusters but duster is useless against players, i play for 2 years and killed maybe 2 players with dusters, about sound traps too, you can easy hear dogs burning or chickens even from 100m range and alerted dogs ever further so yea, yust try to avoid contact with it
My opinion here, but the Knuckle Knife is the melee weapon that I like the most.
I know .. the regular knife will do the job, but I like the way the knuckle knife uses less stamina without losing much damage compared to the regular knife; but you are right.. the common knife is the best melee against dogs, although I have no problem with dogs using the knuckle knife.
wow thanks for that :) 45 hours in the game and I always felt really smart silencing those sound traps with throwing knifes but dude these lanterns over the cages are very loud. I will avoid them now rather then disable them.
I really like using weapons I don’t see often in the bayou. Crossbow with bolt thrower? Nasty good. Double nagant with fanning? Funny as hell. Especially double silenced nagants lol
5 lights will kill an armored and leave a quarter of your stamina bar. Also the heavy knife exists purely for baller status. I know it’s less efficient but having that bad boy in my pocket gives me confidence.
The Firefighter skin for it is great too
Playing with my less experienced friends and they love to use shotguns. They'll take a romero or a slate to rush straight into the enemies before dying in a terrible spot. Don't automatically assume you can kill everyone simply because you have a shotgun.
I like the chain pistol for one reason: The Hedera Mortiferum skin
Used a sniper tower last night for like the 3rd time ever. It payed off as I was above a trio team I killed with a red barrel it was pretty epic. Tip from this? Look up sometimes boys never know who's watching from above.
Like to keep sound traps alive because it lets me know if someone is coming into the compound I'm in. I'll often think I'm alone grabbing a clue but then hear someone melee the armored I snuck past earlier.
Heavy knife can hit dogs easy if you get used to the timing. If you bait dogs together, particularly around a solid object like a tree, you can slice off 2 heads with one heavy swing.
Just about to start playing this game. These vids have been super helpful. Thanks dude
Glad to hear it!
Killing every armored you see 'quietly' with fusees or a flare gun.
Better than shooting them, but just ignore or stab the thing if it's not in the way
One noob trap I can name is scoped weapons. They're actually harder to shoot than normie iron sights ones in many respects, especially for newer people with poor aim and little understanding of in-game ballistics. On top of that they encourage that scaredy cat playstyle that gets you absolutely nowhere and kills any chance of improving at the game.
The other one is loadout logic. Your weapon choices should always complement each other in maximum ways possible, and provide you with maximum flexibility. If you're going with a single-shot rifle like Sparks, you need something to cover your close combat base - Officer Nagant or a fanning revolver would be a good choice. Enforcing limits upon yourself before the game even starts is certainly not a good thing to do if you intend to play to win.
you are seriously overlooking the greatest strength of silencers: they look cool
Sniper towers are like hiding in plain sight for me. No one uses them or checks them, so it’s really fun to give a team the slip or even get behind them by just hiding out in one
I've had Towers work for me. The tower between The Slaughterhouse & Catfish Grove has line of sight to an extraction ferry, I had better a team with the token there by a wide margin, put a concertina trap on the footbridge to slow them, mounted the tower, and dropped them both. Towers only go wrong for me once hellhounds are involved.
One I would consider a newb trap is when to run and when to sneak
number 1 Buying poison bullets and incendiary rounds for long rifles
Great video, but I feel the need to point out that the "laser beam" silencer nagant tip is super outdated. I have actually tested all revolvers with fanning, and nagant silencer is equally as imprecise as the chain pistol - yep, it is that bad. And I didn´t test it by shooting, I tested it by literally measuring how many milimeters there are on the screen between the crosshair marks on each revolver when fanning. Chain pistol and nagant silencer have precisely the same spread.
Crosshair spread is not always an accurate representation of where the bullet will go, the only reliable way to test this is by shooting at a wall. 1.4.1 is mixing this up again so I'll wait till it drops to look at bullet spread on fanning/dual wielding.
@@4FSGaming Idk, I did find the LeMat having smaller crosshair spread, and it definitely seems more accurate than either nagant silencer or chain pistol, and likewise, the pax has an even smaller crosshair, and is even more accurate. But you might be right, in which case, what a stupid system, where the crosshair spread is indicative... unless it is not and is actually misleading lol.
You just sold me on the knife. I'm giving up my dusters today.
Idk if it’s the players I match with but every time the suppressed winnie scares the shit outta me. Also basic Caldwell conversion w/ fanning is a laser
About the last noob trap : sure , its loud so not really a good idea - but cause its loud and obvious its makes for good bait if you're hunting for players.
this game needs way more players so i bought it for myself and for two of my friends
I know this is an older video but just because you're gun is silenced doesn't mean what you're shooting at is.
I refuse to believe that the heavy knife is worse than the regular knife
It's far worse, simply because it can't stab, which is essential for pvp.
@@4FSGaming i usually don’t use my melee for pvp because I almost always have a shotgun or dual paxes but yeah I can see how stabbing is essential
Don’t shoot everything you see I’ve been with countless new players who have a silencer and just kill every grunt with the gun they have it’s annoying and I try to tell them NOT to shoot or Pearce the immolater. Simple stuff that I was guilty when I first started playing
Just recently have started playing this awesome game and your vids helps a ton! Thanks a lot! Hopefully this game isnt gonna ended full of cheaters like warzone.
If you do 2 heavies then 1 light to the head with the heavy knife it kills an armored with 1 attack left. but I also still never carry it
Well i agree with most of the points but there is one weapon that is silent and deadly, the crossbow, the crossbow is actually amazing if you get use to it instakill with shot bolts up to 100+ metres against players if you can hit them, also versatility if you run the hand crossbow you can instantly kill these pve mobs with poison tip bolts, dogs immolators, 2 to 5 grunts grouped together, the assassin, the butcher, husks, armoured husks, and crows are now killable as well much easier and so much quieter. With a poison tippd crossbow you can quickly move through the environment with very little noise. As a bonus you can run half and half now you can run 5 poison bolts and 5 regular bolts and switch while in game. Another thing the hand crossbow at about 30 metres is instant kills hunters if they are hit in the chest.
The full sized crossbow is instant kill up to 45m to the chest without special bolts, and like the hand crossbow you can run 2 sets of ammo, say you want 6 explosive bolts and 6 shot bolts you can run it.
The crossbow is under appreciated, however, i have a warning, its not easy to use and will require immense practice to master but if mastered you will be feared when you can fire three shots and instantly kill an entire trio
I use the heavy knife just because it has a large damage cone
I often run into a ton of mobs. If you have the knife, you can only kill 4 at a time, but with dusters you can kill 8. This is why I bring dusters, not just for imolators. And while the knife is better for pvp, the dusters still do a damn good job in a pinch. Ask the notches on mine ;)
Dusters certainly have a place, you can mow through mobs of grunts much faster. The deal breaker for me is the inability to 1 hit dogs easily. With a knife I can guarantee that a pack of 4 won't land a hit, it's a bit more tricky with dusters.
4FS Gaming
Fair. I usually let me teammates deal with them since they are a bitch.
for tip 2 knuckle knife is the best melee in the game.
Just subscribed and was blessed with a new vid. Cheers :)
Welcome aboard!
I wish they would make the zombie bodies not disappear. And they add somewhere other than the bayou, like let us go in the mountains after the Wendigo.
The chain pistol used to be more accurate with fanning. They nerfed it with 1.3. Im sure a good number of people arnt aware of that.
the chain pistol is the gun you use in buildings if you take a shotgun never take a chain pistol or a sword anything close range really medium or long if it is a shotgun
Once brought a chain pistol. Killed one in combat. But never again. I prefer an uppercut, caldwell pax, the lemat or indeed the nagant silencer.
Hi there, thx for your vid. Good job. I have a question : why at 00:21 secondes on video you one shot the guy and at 00:24 sec video you need 4 shots to kill the second guy ?? Even when i play it does the same..sometimes i one tap with specter sometimes 2 or 3 taps... -_-
