Fun Fact: James' alternate colors are also references to the star fox team Default represents Fox and SF James by the green outfit 2nd Represents Peppy Hare 3rd Represents Falco 4th Represents Slippy Toad His hairstyle is also based on one of fox's artwork too, i forgot which one
I almost feel like if Nintendo wanted too, we could have had a little bit of a connection between nearly all space/futuristic themed nintendo franchises and games. F-Zero, Star Fox, maybe even Metroid, etc. I like to imagine how would Samus Aran look and play like if she was a guest racer in F-Zero with a machine designed after her ship similar to how James McCloud was designed and based after Star Fox. Maybe not necessarily have Samus, but at least have a made up character based on her and the metroid games.
I do love that if you play star fox command, one of the endings is where Fox and Falco make their own f zero team essentially, reworking their Arwings into racing machines, nice nod back to the F zerp series which referenced star fox first
My personal favorite pilot in GX

Dad Father Fox McCloud
i firmly believe hes a Star Fox Reference
And his machine straight-up looks like the Light Arwing model from Star Fox 2.
That’s just straight up a Star Fox reference!

If I recall correctly, in GX every vehicle can reverse
It was just an ideal...
(And possibly another star fox reference, since in some levels, 64 or Assault, you can use the brakes but can't reverse.)

He rocks!
Star fox mccloud
f-zero and star fox are the same universes
