- How to download/upload livesets and patches into Boss Katana Tone Studio. In this video, I have simply reuploaded an older video to fit into my larger, stitched together video and play list on how to use the Boss Katana and Tone Studio.

Wow, incredibly easy and straightforward! Thanks man!
Thanks, man! Helped me a lot. Just bought the Katana, still a newbie. Great tutorial.
Thanks for all the katana content, it is excellent and you've really helped me get the most out of the amp.
Glad I can help!
I just downloaded the software today and this is really helpful to get me going with the patches. Thanks
That's great. Check out other videos for more tips, tricks and exploring everything else about this amp. It has SO much to offer!
thank you so much you have just made a total technophobe very happy
Glad I could help!
Got a question well 1st off thank you so much for this awesome grouping of educational videos im a old school tube player and new to boss K loving it , so i downloaded some live sets and alls going good but when i am trying to drag a preset from a live set to my amp set theres some situations where the preset wont drop in it just stays the same as it is , i can try other slots and get it to finaly work but its like at times it wont allow me to drag n drop a preset any idea what im doing wrong am i doing the file wrong or is there a limit to how many times i can switch presets in and out of the amp set thank you for all your help
There is no limit. Sometimes you have to drop it in just the right spot and make sure it highlights in red before you drop it. I find it easier just to click on the preset and then click "write" and choose which channel I want it to go to.
Thank you for the video. Let me ask you: when I connect katana to boss tone, it shows the chanels of the katana on the left side with the configuration that comes with katana from factory. Later on, If I export some patches to chanel 1, for example, and after that, I want to restore chanel 1 with the original configuration that comes from factory, what procedures can I take? Thanks.
Backup the factory settings by going to the system menu and doing a full data backup to file and save it somewhere safe as "Factory". Or if you just want to do a complete factory reset, you turn the amp off, put the wattages selector on Standbye, press and hold the panel button and turn the amp on. When the lights start flashing, it starts restoring to factory. Once they stop, power cycle the amp again and it will be back to all factory settings.
thanks you

What if a patch is loaded and I want to make change, like volume? I'd have to use the app? I mean when not connected to computer. Thanks!
You can just adjust it from the panel.
Just got my first mkii 50 yesterday. I’ve had the katana go for a few weeks and am wondering if I can import my patches from the go to the mkii?
From what I understand, and I haven't tried it, but MK2 patches will work on the Go, but Go patches won't work on the MK2. What I've done is just had my Go app open with it on and go through the patch and copy the settings manually over to my 100 mk2.
@@Guitarnivore ok, that’s kinda what I thought it would be, thanks for the reply
I did it! I am an idiot and this helped me do it. This is probably the fourth video I have watched on this. Thanks.
Glad it helped. Oh and I still suck at guitar too. 🙂
How to set the value on the Ampli pan during the use of a patch? must be all down to zero?
Not sure I follow. Set the value of what during patch use?
Dumb question: Is there a way to take somebody's cabinet IR Impulse Response WAV file and down load it into a Katana? Or do you just have to experiment and make your own. IIRR there was some SW you could play into and it would build a patch. Anybody know about That? If so what is it called.
Not a dumb question, but the answer is no. There is now way to do that, but that would be nice.
My patches aren’t loading? Anything to help. When I load it there’s only 0
Did you import them into your library first and then write them to the amp?
Awesome videos. Will this work with the Katana 100?
Yes, the software is the same for all of them.
@@Guitarnivore Thanks! Will be getting mine on Saturday so I've been binge watching the tutorials. Can it go into an interface for use with a DAW? Doe it take pedals well?
@@JimmyKay1976 The fx loop works well and yes on the daw/interface. That's what I use to record all my tutorials. I also use a Behringer DI box between the amp and interface to quiet things down a little.
@@Guitarnivore Great to hear. Now what do I owe ya lol
@@JimmyKay1976 First lesson is free! 😁
How can I save changes I've made to a patch?
You have to write it to one of the channels on the amp and then drag it back to the library and overwrite the old patch. That's one thing I don't like about Tone Studio.
does it save straight to the amp?
The only livesets that are saved to the amp are the 4-8 that you write to the amp . The rest stay on the computer in your tone studio librarian. You have to write the live set you want on the amp from the library and it copies it to whichever bank/channel you choose.
What’s the purpose of restore from file mean? Isn’t that just importing a patch you have on file?
Pretty much. If you do a back up, it backs up the files that are on your amp and restoring them puts them back on your amp. I guess it works well for if you want the patches to go back to the exact channel you had them on to begin with.
Hey man, a probelm that I am having is where I am using livesets and writing them, however the amp does not change its sound. The sound no matter the channel remains unchanged. Any Ideas?
Any way you can make a video demonstrating this and link it here?
I was thinking about it and you might just need to do a factory reset on your amp.
yes thats my problem too
@@Guitarnivore how would i do a factory reaet
reset
What’s the difference between exporting to Katana and dragging and dropping into the Katana?
When you use the export button, you're exporting the entire liveset, but you can only drag/drop a single patch into the Katana.
Thank you. When I have these live sets in my library (not in the Katana amp, just the software) are these patches meant to be played from the library, or are the 8 patch slots where they should be stored to use? I "sample" patches that are stored in the library and they still play ok. So instead of just 8 patches and the Panel feature, it's like I have 60 patches in the library to use. @@Guitarnivore
@@CB-wi3vc just remember if you edit one that is saved in the library, you need to write it to the amp and then save it back to the live set or else it won't save.
is it me or do most of theses patches sound like crap
Which amp do you have?
@@Guitarnivore katana 50 mk2 EX
@@MrAeroled99 I'm not sure what exact patches you're referring to, but understand that the 50 has a different speaker than the 100 or the Artist and it's a weaker speaker that sounds thinner, so you may have to tweak the EQ of the amp to add some bottom end to the 50 and give it a heavier sound. Also Parametric EQ can make your patches come alive!
@@Guitarnivore thanks... the thomas Rocklin ones sound great ...then some are really bad like that woodstock on katana top 10...but I'll try the Eq adjustments
Can you help. I. Trying to use the app on android
Which app are you trying to use on Android? Because you will need to use a 3rd party app from the google app store called Katana Librarian or KatanaMan. Boss doesn't make a mobile app for the MK2. I prefer Librarian, but there is an adapter you need. I cover everything in this video: ruclips.net/video/CKNd3PDi2Lg/видео.htmlsi=kq6nKpcy7zN29Uek
@@Guitarnivore I have the Boss Street Cube 2. I thought liveset was where I could store drum tracks. It's annoying the amp has no drum tracks built in. I don't have an iPhone. I will try the apps you said about. Thank you! Do you have any instructions for the street cube 2. I'm also very confused with midi.. using a midi foot switch for the looper...
@@AriaMusicVibe I don't think the app I mentioned works for the Street Cube 2. The street Cube 2 has it's own mobile app that I'm not familiar with.
@@Guitarnivore I'm struggling to use the app and the looper.. I bought a foot switch but it doesn't really work. Momentary/latching... All confusing. The cube app is very confusing. I wish they would simplify it. Or make more apps. Are there any apps that work for the cube street 2?
@@AriaMusicVibe It looks like you need the boss bluetooth adapter to connect to the Street II and the editor app. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.roland.boss_cube_street_II_editor&hl=en_IE&pli=1
