Amazing toturial congrats ! 1 question however : when you don't have any accident on a specific day the cell for that day will be displayed whithout any color which can be confusing because the day still should be visible on the calendar.. Do you know how to make sure days without any recordings are colored (with the lightest blue in our case)
Holyyyy that was a wicked cool demonstration.. Thanks so much I am definitely going to try implementing this on a forecast dashboard I currently have running
Hello, can you please give me an example step for the fixed LOD calculation which you done in date part(column index({ FIXED DATEPART('month',[Date]) : MIN(DATEPART('week',[Date]))}))... I cannot understand this one. I understood the Row index formula!
I'm using different data to build a calendar following your tutorial and I'm having one problem that I would greatly appreciate assistance on. Any dates that doesn't have sales data display as blank, neither the date nor color show up. Is there an easy way to fix this? This is one of the less intuitive features of pivot tables imo, so I have a feeling that it isn't an easy answer. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. You are easily one of the best teachers on RUclips!
Trying to overcome the same issue here. The dataset I am using contains mostly workweek dates, and during some weeks no data at all. To overcome this I merged my datasets onto a new dataset that just consists of a list of every day in 2018. However when I go to filter out specific cases, all the dates that do not have a paired date match disappear. FWIW my workaround was to add dummy data into my datasets that I have to leave selected in the filters in order to keep the calendar intact. Not a very polished solution or long term solution, but works functionally for now.
Cool! thanks for sharing. Do you know if there's a way i can add Month names (text) on top of each month block to make it look like a calendar? because my year is starting from July to Dec it's diificult to tell which month is which
Hi Ramandeep, there is no straightforward way to add this. There are a couple of workarounds, but you will have to do a bit of googling to find the method that will work for you Here is an alternative that might be fit for purpose: community.tableau.com/docs/DOC-6364
Hello , thank you for the lovely explaination, when i tried it, my weeks are starting from Sunday and in your case it is starting from Monday, how to overcome that?
Hi Abhijeet. I guess it might be inheriting this from you regional settings, but luckily Tableau gives us the capability to change this per data source. To change this, you can just right-click on the data source name - it will open with a menu, and then you select "Date Properties". On the window that opens up then, you can set the day which indicates the start of the week.
Hey Blesson! It is indeed possible to add multiple years of (the same) data, you just need to add the Year of Date as a dimension to the first position in the column shelf (before the column index and Weekday of Date). You will also need to do some additional formatting if you working with more than 2 years' worth of data and want to display it in a grid of different years.
I have created dashboard copying yours exactly. I was unable to find any workaround over the internet to get months in there. Is there a way you can help with the month name? Any help would be much appreciated.

How do you label the months?

Hi Matthew,
Thanks for adding to this thread.
To clarify, date and colour is missing for records that do not have sales data?
Thanks

What an amazing tutorial, thanks a lot for making it look so easy so I want to try it out now.
You are most welcome :)

When i changed to square, I got tiny squares and dates disappeared! Tableau 2024. How's that?

is it possible to get the month name on top of each month's display on the grid?
Yes, it is possible. Will require some workaround, which is not simple to explain. You can check some solutions over internet.
Very helpful thanks, learnt a lot
You are most welcome Martin!
is it possible to show two events on a same day?
How do you want to execute it?
I would like to display two events on the same day. E.g. 1st Jan is both Birthday of Mary, Birthday of John.
You can add them as labels. At the end, you want to color days by some value
Love it waaao
pretty cool!
Thanks for tuning in!
Good work
Thanks for your comment Umesh!
