It's on line. People from around the US were enrolled. If that helps.

Thank you for such a clear demonstration. Could you please explain further the following topics in "Table Calculation"? 1. At the level (eg. Deepest, etc) 2. Sort Order (Specific Dimensions, etc) 3. Add Secondary Calculation (in case of "Running Total")
Thank you. These will be included in the Advanced Table Calc videos. To answer briefly though: 1. "At the level" - when you lock the dimensions, or when you select specific dimensions, you can also specify how granular the calculation should be 2. Sort Order - you can decide to order the calculations using specific fields (for example, in a running total, you may decide to do the cumulative value direction based on an aggregation (add all values in descending order, add all values in ascending order etc) 3. Secondary Calculation - adding one more calculation on top of the result of a previous table calculation Hopefully this helps for now.

Agree, very informative tutorial. Question; regarding calculations, can you address and do a walkthrough on how to calculate employee turnover from a month-to-month perspective? I have no trouble getting the current month ending headcount but can’t seem to get a calculation to work that gives me prior month headcount. I need the different to then calculate the average and use for the Turnover calculation. Any feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you John, I can try and create a tutorial to turnover or something similar. Depending on how your table/viz is laid out, you can try using the LOOKUP function, something like: LOOKUP(SUM(headcount), -1) for previous month.

Great video on table calcs! really informative. Are you planning to make video on 10 impTable calculations of Tableau as you did for 15 imp LOD problems?

Having a question regarding table calculations, what is the difference in quick table calculations and table calculations. and also waiting for advanced table calculations vedio
Hello Faisal - these two are technically the same. The Quick Table Calculations are the ones pre-defined by Tableau (when you right click on a measure pull, you will see Quick Table Calculations). Table Calculations are all these calculations, which could be quick table calcs, or ones that you construct yourself from scratch.
Hello icedventimocha! I don't have the advanced table calc video(s) yet. I have a few other videos in the queue (the new one will be out by tomorrow), hopefully you will find them useful as well :)
Thank you for the fantastic videos! They are so well organized and easy to follow. I really enjoy watching your tutorials. I do have a question about "Compute Using Cell". Is there any practical example where we should use it? For example, If we use % of the total and compute using cell, it will return 100% for each cell. If we calculate rank, then it will return 1 for each cell. So what is the practical use of this function?
Thank you Sienna. Depending on your layout, a "cell" can still be a composition (for example, imagine a cell that has only Yes/No values). Per cell can be helpful with 100% stacked charts, for example something like this: www.perceptualedge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Womens-Equality-Day-Infographic-Redesigned.jpg Glad you are finding the videos helpful!
I started watching your channel and it is awesome , but the definition of the pane is not clear for me ,which you said it determined by the second to the last dimension you see in the view
Thank you Anas. Notice what happens when you place at least 2 discrete dimensions in your view - do you notice (visually) a grouping that shows up? That's the pane ..
Hi Mam - Could you please send me the link of Advance table calculations video. Your video is mind blowing. No one can teach like that or in that way how you do Please help me. please send me the link of the Advance table calculation video.

How to get % difference from maximum value, lets say we wanted to know the maximum sales and then how much is my current month sales difference % from maximum month, and maximum sales will be dynamic, can you help me out here.
Is it always going to re-calculate based on the filter applied or is there a way to have it fixed regardless of the filter? One similarity i can think of is like a show/hide capability. When we hide something, it does not neccesarily recalculates the value
Hey Patrick. If you are simply hiding, these wont cause table calcs to re-calculate. Regular dimension and measure filters though will cause it to re-calculate. The one filter that won't affect it is what we call late filter (or table calc filter) - which is the very last operation in this order of operations hierarchy: help.tableau.com/current/pro/desktop/en-us/order_of_operations.htm Hope this helps.
Hello Kaust - sometimes what happens to me is the window shows up behind another open window. Could this be the case? Which table calculation function are you trying this on?
@@sqlbelle Yep you were right. I was using 3 external screens and I did not realize the pop up window was showing up on my laptop... Thank you so much.
I find it strange that a moving average over current and 5 previous time points does not generate null values for the first 5 time points. These don't have any previous 5 time points. The null value for %difference makes more sense but is inconsistent with how a moving average handles missing previous values. Or am I missing something?
Hello Ruben. That is an option for table calculations. The default is to calculate even if there are not enough points (for example if it's a 3 time point moving average, the first value will only be divided by 1; second value will be divided by 2 etc) When you edit the table calculation, there is an option to NULL the values until there is enough points. In which case, first and second points will be NULL. It's only the third point that starts getting value. Hope this helps.
@@sqlbelle Thanks for letting me know, I'll try and make that work! P.s. your work is outstanding. My only remark is that I couldn't find some of the raw data for replicating all examples.
Per cell can be helpful with 100% stacked charts, for example something like this: www.perceptualedge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Womens-Equality-Day-Infographic-Redesigned.jpg
Glad you are finding the videos helpful!
@@sqlbelle I see! Thank you so much for the quick reply!

Thank you so much chandra! Another one coming up in a few hours :) Appreciate your note!
Intro BGM brought me back good old memories... from the show "HOW IT'S MADE" National geography science channel.
That is so cool, Pradeep. Thanks for sharing! Now I have to go look for this series and re-listen to the background music :)
Super cool! I will have to re-listen the background music again :) Thank you Pradeep!

Thanks Chandra! There will be additional videos on LODs
Do you have another channel for Sql? I do not see any sql videos and I am very interested in improving my skills.
Hi Karl, I have one video (for now) on SQL. I have been planning to add more but just have not had the time to do both Tableau and SQL videos in a week. I plan to add more this year, I have a few topics lined up.
Here is my video on joins:

The one filter that won't affect it is what we call late filter (or table calc filter) - which is the very last operation in this order of operations hierarchy: help.tableau.com/current/pro/desktop/en-us/order_of_operations.htm
Hope this helps.
@@sqlbelle thank you so much!! I appreciate your efforts and they are all helpful! Looking forward to your next videos!
Awesome..
Thank you ankur!
When I do "Edit Table Calculations" it just numbers the individual data points. There is NO pop up Table Calculation box. What gives!?
Hello Kaust - sometimes what happens to me is the window shows up behind another open window. Could this be the case? Which table calculation function are you trying this on?
@@sqlbelle Yep you were right. I was using 3 external screens and I did not realize the pop up window was showing up on my laptop... Thank you so much.
Is there "advanced table calculation tutorial"? I couldn't find it.
Madam i have stucked with..
I want to show previous year 2 nd quater june sales only..
How can i get that
Please have a look at this, this may help? ruclips.net/video/N-L26NUXhP0/видео.html
Great explanation, but the music is rather loud and distracting.
Thank you Youa! I've noted the music and will fix in future videos. Thank you for letting me know!
The default is to calculate even if there are not enough points (for example if it's a 3 time point moving average, the first value will only be divided by 1; second value will be divided by 2 etc)
When you edit the table calculation, there is an option to NULL the values until there is enough points.
I (and perhaps many others) would be perfectly happy to pay for those, perhaps via your gumroad profile?
Keep up the great work! Big hug from Amsterdam!
mam i have so many question how can i ask you directly...............help me finding a job in this.
