      Yes -- like when Johnny Lawrence stood on a desk in LaRusso Auto and announced that he was opening his own car dealership. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but that move might have been Johnny in Season 1, but certainly not Johnny of the present, who has finally made peace with his son, Robby, and has a baby on the way with Carmen. He's become a functional adult.

      I guess that the writers were so proud of the sketch where he tried to learn how to use a computer that they felt that Johnny should now act like Reese from Malcolm, so now they just make him the most dumber person ever.

    • @el_killorcure
      @el_killorcure Месяц назад +1

      @JJJJ-lk8wj And he had the first 4 freaking seasons all to himself.
      Seriously, his story was all played out by the time he went to recruit Silver, who wisely resisted at first only to eventually giving in.
      Silver turning on Kreese (and becoming an even bigger threat than him) was a fitting arc ending for Kreese.

      @el_killorcure it's been made obvious that kreese is silvers weakness, but silver wasn't kreeses. Now silvers gone, kreese is left with one johnny being his weakness, and he must try to put an end to him

      @JJJJ-lk8wj And it feels forced.
      What's the point of it if it leaves him with no students nor legacy ( no student will trust him once they know about this).
      Johnny was ALWAYS his surrogate son, his legacy.
      To have Kreese actually want to kill him goes against everything in the movies and past seasons.
      It's like having Tony in Iron Man III destroy the Mark platform just because his father cheated Vanko (the co-designer of the arc reactor) and thus destroying his Iron Man legacy.

    I understand why people get tired of Johnny and Daniel bickering, but it makes a lot more sense than if they get along suddenly. They should have killed Kreese off in S5. And make S6 into a movie instead that could have focused on the Sekai Taikai and tying up all the loose ends. I mean we gotta deal with Johnny and Daniel fighting again as if that was already getting worn out in S4. And they happened to ruin Tory’s story arc after her mom dies by deciding to abandon her brother and fly out of the country to fight for a man she felt betrayed him. And Kreese now feels more like a cartoony villain than the anti-hero we got in S5.

      @@pepeelghetto1231 I reject that last sentence from you. And PART 1 is indeed a low-point for the show. The point is, regarding Johnny’s line to Daniel, “We’re done for good”, that’s them going back to the same old well one too many times. That’s not “talking too early”, that’s a FACT. So don’t sound condescending regarding this, cause it ain’t called for. And they might end up in different dojo’s (hoping Johnny takes back Cobra Kai and does good with it) but at the end of the day they’ll still be FRIENDS. That’s what I mean with them not being done. So the fact that they keep pushing that same old BS narrative, THIS_late in the game, is absolutely dumb and silly. The strong ending of Season 5 already wrapped up most of the stuff to full satisfaction. Now it feels like a we need to start conflicts again which were already dissolved. As much as I still love the show, but this will be the hardest tournament to win with the last ten episodes. It unfortunately has paycheck vibes. Hey, NETFLIX pays us for another season. OK. Let's go. But I couldn't care less about some storylines. The college stuff, snooze to the max. Miyagi mysterious past to throw Daniel off balance once again. The best is actually Daniel's wife Amanda. She always broke the show down for the audience how ridiculous but nevertheless fun it is. But the fun is missing so far and only shows up sporadically. Fingers crossed it will pick up with Part 2 and 3. But at the moment, without question the weakest Season yet. The prime example for overstaying its welcome.

I agree that the story might have stretched beyond a natural point, but I do believe that we will get a very satisfying ending. Part 1 might seem a bit weak, but we have to remember that they need to setup the right pieces for them to get to the exciting stuff. Episode 5's ending was huge, in my opinion. I completely agree that the previous season started to show elements of “we need to bring this to close”. Not because it naturally felt that way, but because the writing and other smaller elements started taking a dip in quality or becoming repetitive. The long wait for this Season 6 PART 1 was very underwhelming. Considering it felt like 4 episodes of team building, and 2 episodes to flush out the upcoming threat. None of the relationships, beyond Larusso and Johnny, are interesting. I can tell you that nobody cares about the characters “college” or the new “love triangle. It’s all been done in the previous seasons. I hope they begin to sideline the younger characters to focus on the adults. The adults are where the legacy, history, and drama are. The kids don’t matter as we know that they will never go up against adults, because they don’t wanna show adults murdering kids. The end of last season upped the stakes so much and brought genuine tension, violence, and stakes. We started with the Karate Kid, end on Karate Kid. Not the spoiled, poorly written, teenage characters that are just super stock one note characters now.

    I’m in too deep to ever dislike the show. It could do anything and I’d say hell yeah. I like the Kim Sun Yung and Tory stuff more than most it seems. And I know part 2 will be the most intense the show has ever been. Some people will say they’re retreading conflicts. But they had to beat the team down before the tournament started. Daniel and Johnny clearly will never be totally on the same page. Even though they are remaining partners this time around. And it’s because Johnny has matured. I don’t have an issue with that. And on the Chozen side of it, clearly that’s gonna fit within his arc this season. So again no issue with it. And I disagree that Sam and Tory went backwards. They very much so put the rivalry to rest. It just took a little time. Seems realistic to me. There needs to be a segue from mortal enemies to friends. And I found Tory’s issues more compelling than ever. If we’re gonna say that every plot line was wrapped up in season 5, that certainly isn’t true for Tory. They’ve been building to this moment since season 3 for her.

    The biggest problem with part 1 was that we did not see a lot because it went so fast and some moments were not earned. For example, Brucks returning without explaining how he dealt with the beating he took from Hawk. Instead, we just get "You play karate games, you get karate prizes."
    Also, the reunion of Kreese and Kim Da Eun was a let down even though they hadn't seen each other in 40 years and their reunion should have carried more emotional weight. I would have liked to have seen those moments and more fleshed out and taken more time to develop, but I understand they want to bring everything to a conclusion so we get like a Reader's Digest version when it would have been more satisfying if we got more in depth development.

    I enjoyed this season right up until the last plot point in the last episode.
    SPOILERS:
    Tory's heel turn. I REALLY didn't like this for two reasons.
    1.
    1. It's unearned. If anything, Kenny should have had the heel turn since another character made a choice to do something to him that hurt him. Tory's mother dying was something random that happened to her without any characters making any choices. And so she just turns bad again? She turns her back on the support group she's built and goes back to the person she knows to be a psycho, after all the progress she's made? This really felt like a cheap, unearned regression of a great character for the sake of easy drama.
    But then, maybe she was right to leave them in the dust because:
    2. It made all the other characters seem heartless. Obviously, some time has passed between her walking out of Miyagi Do and this tournament happening. Did none of them bother to try and find her and console/support her after her mother's death? Robbie, her boyfriend, just let it be and didn't talk to her again? The only explanation is that she disappeared and didn't answer their calls/texts. But then, surely it's very inappropriate of them to go to this tournament rather than spending that time trying to look for this missing, traumatised teenager with no parents to make sure she's safe. No?

    (Spoiler) My biggest gripe with this season is the repetitive writing. Like I understand we need conflict to keep the show going, but it’s just so ridiculous when it comes to certain characters. Tori and Sam making peace at the slumber party was such a sigh of relief, same with Miguel and Robby against each other for captain but not taking it personally….but then they turn around and have Hawk and Demetri at odds AGAIN. Johnny and Daniel at odds AGAIN. It’s just like why dude, come onnnn.
    And with Daniel, it’s like here we go again, his confidence is rocked aaaaaagain. AGAIN. Every time we see him since KK3 there’s something knocking his confidence out. Come onnn dude give me a break. I’d much rather see him bond with Johnny than “doubt everything he’s believed in/himself” for the tenth time. The Miyagi plot line just to throw Daniel off is just a drag to see. We’ve seen Daniel lose his confidence or not be mentally 100% like a dozen times now.

One of the creators of this show tried to explain this of in a Watchparty livestream where he explained that Kreese could run both to Korea and USA because of his Military background or Skills I was like WTF are you thinking your fans would believe that I feel like Kreese is way overdone even though they I actually quite like the bond between him and the disrespectful Korean kid and I thought Kenny’s character was nerfed this season and I thought Devon’s character was a bit annoying specially with that sabotage move she made on Kenny that might cause trouble to Anthony

    Funny how you didn't touch on "Miyagi's big secrets" which is all fine and good, just as long as it doesn't ruin the Miyagi character for everyone. In regards to that storyline, it looks to be setting up as to why Miyagi hated fights and tournaments. I am sort of looking forward to that.
    I'm not having high hopes for part two, but I will continue to watch it til the end.

    I think the show was at least one season longer that it could have been, even before season 6. I would've to rewatch it to be precise, but Daniel and Johnny teaming up under one dojo seemed it took foreverrrrrrrrr 😮‍💨😮‍💨 Allie's return was suposed to be the key point to help them get over their rivalry, but instead of stiking together and deal with the discussions they may have over how to train the kids, it felt like they wasted a wholeeeeee season, making them split into two dojos only to be back together later. That was the moment I felt this show was streching-
    Also, wasn't there a hint of Daniel knowing a "Miyagi Do deadly strike" at one point? At one point he fought Kreese, and it looked like he was realizing Kreese was never going to stop, and that he would have to kill him. I liked that, it was like a natural development of the story, and then the showrunners...kinda...forgot all about it?

    I think Kreese going to prison should’ve been the ending for his character.
    He hasn’t changed or evolved.
    He’s still the same power hungry psychopath he always was
    and it’s gotten dull.
    He’s no longer threatening or intimidating.
    He’s just a frail old man walking around squinting all the time trying act tough. It’s kinda pitiful.

  • @omgbygollywow
    @omgbygollywow Месяц назад

    Kreese survived Vietnam and was in Special Forces. He knows something about evading capture. I heard about an escaped criminal who for six months evaded capture by living at an old Circuit City store and creating a passageway to an adjoining Toys R Us store, where he would have fun at nights playing with the toys. He only got caught when he tried to attend a church and people at the church recognized police photos of him. If he hadn't attended the church, he may have remained on the run for years.
    In the Cobra Kai storyline, I doubt if authorities would put much resources into tracking down an old man who was falsely convicted anyway, and who doesn't seem to be a threat to the general public.

    Cody I as always respect ur opinion I saw what u disliked in season 5 w the characters last run through their dramas & all that. But the showrunners always envisioned a 6 season series arc. If it makes u feel any better u can view it how I view it. Each 2 seasons is 1 act in a 3 act story. Seasons 1-2 reintroduce the characters & build up the old rivalry tension until it boils over inti tragedy. Act 2 is seasons 3-4 where they build up from that tragedy the villains rise aswell & Johnny & Daniel (& thus their kids) come together under a united cause. Then finally act 3 is Seasons 5-6 where they deal with all the leftover trauma & character stuff & then go to the final battle ending the corrupt teachings of cobra Kai worldwide. If u view it like that it’s much better looking. Lastly this might just be a taste thing w you Cody bc ik u don’t like anime (nothing against it it’s just not ur thing) but since day 1 this series was a live action battle shounen anime mixed w breaking bad elements for the karate kid. Each season has characters grow as a person through learning how to fight tensions rise w rivals from some tournament event & then the final fight ends w cool action but more importantly it’s not about the fight itself but the clashing ideals behind the fighters. That’s what a shounen battle anime does best look at dragon ball tournament arcs & compare it to the show. Cobra Kai has always been this way. I personally do think they stretched the character stuff a season too long when they made season 5 the end point for their shit but w season 6 being not rlly characters disliking each other & such theyre all friends now it’s just the tournament now tests their new relationships rather than just recycle previous drama situations. W Johnny & Daniel they may be under the same dojo & the same goal & they may both want what’s best for the kids & they agree on that they both had fundamentally different trainings of life drilled into their heads at a critical young age so while it may get frustrating sometimes it’s totally within their characters to always at some point butt heads. I mean Daniel has always been an impatient control freak so any change Johnny does w be hard on him plus the whole Miyagi secret box shaking up his idealized vision of his mentor who he clearly has divined at this point in his mind. Again 1/3 of the season I hear u on that part it’s hard asf but honestly w all that I said I think this is actually a great foundation for the final season rather than a rough start like u think my only issue is the multiple release dates ruin the flow also potential spoilers but is the thing ur thinking that Kreese is Tory’s dad & or step dad?

      Kreese’s escape from prison at the end of season 5 has been the only thing in this show that feels a little too much even for this show. Like the show has always been hightened like the 80s films but also grounded & Kreese fucking walking out in a lab coat w no mask or anything hiding his face was just dumb

  • @AB23YT

    The whole tournament being the opposite of what miyagi would do is kinda a weak argument for criticizing considering that daniel is actually not similar to miyagi at all (I don't think this a hot take) and the secret of miyagi doing the sekai tekai and being involved in a robbery does makes u rethink the whole argument against the world tournament because of miyagi's teaching.
    I also don't get the tory character being overcooked argument at all, I thought the big reveal at the end was a perfect way to send tory's character off to cobra kai and her performance was actually amazing in ep 5
