This is so controlled but effortless at the same time. It's light and playful but has emphasis at all the right spots. Some drum covers feel the need to outperform the song to show off their skills, but this is such a humble take that wants to play with the music, not at it. I'm going to cry. I started on piano and recently began trying out drum, but now that I'm away from both my instruments, this make me miss them so much. A perfect cover. 💜💜
Now I understand why some comment something like this: "I NEVER CLICK SO FAST IN MY LIFE AS NOW!" This DINOSAUR drum cover is the best I've seen so far... And then I remember that he said his favorite was song was AKMU DINOSAUR...! I'm so happy right now..
After watching this, I really want to see brass band, jazz band, orchestra, choral, ensemble, and/or whatever configurations of instruments & voices covers of kpop
Every now and then I like to come back to this because Stephen did such a wonderful job, and it is one of the most satisfying drum covers ever out there.
Do you actually play drums? I play a similar style to his and I've never been classically trained. Skills like that can be learned just jamming on your own. One of the instruments you don't need an instructor for. Stephen could be this good with or without his school. Your comment is a little ignorant.
Vendrix I've been playing drums since 2001. Many self-taught drummers don't develop a more nuanced manner of playing, and most don't venture into jazz drumming or incorporate techniques more common in jazz drumming. They kind of just bang away on rock/pop/metal in a very straightforward manner. I used to watch live drumming competitions all the time when I worked at Guitar Center, and the winners were almost always trained drummers who took lessons with teachers or went to music school, and almost never the self-taught ones. The trained drummers always played more intricate patterns, challenging rhythms, had more advanced technique, better timing and precision, better expressiveness and dynamics, etc. It's because having a teacher correcting your problems (often ones you don't even notice you have because you lack the experience to realize you even have them), makes a huge difference. Yes, you can get there by yourself too, but you might take far longer through unnecessary trial and error due to having developed bad habits (and not knowing it), using ineffective practicing methods, lacking frequent in-depth critiques and instructions from teachers who are expert drummers, etc. Your chances are simply higher when you have instruction from experts who observe your growth and correct your problems. You don't get that from reading books and watching videos or interacting with strangers on the web.
Fucking NAILED it. I’m glad to see some of the musical skill being showcased on the channel. That way there’s added content variety, but more importantly it gives the reacting musicians more authority as they prove that they are very capable in the field!
I think something really stands out in this channel is them appreciating music even if it’s not viral or that famous between kpop fans, some really good kpop music i knew through this channel because of their analysis and that’s why i never clicked faster,i would love to see more of this because it’s fantastic ❤️
This is so good. Listening to Akmu it's always a good experience, but man, listening to this cover was something else. Those different transition that He added it to the song, amazing. Please do more of this kind of videos. Love the channel
Wow! Amazing cover by Stephen. The video and audio work was at the same high level as work done by Stephen on drums. Not to take away from the performance but I would like to see more work produced by Joe Hagen by those from ReaactotheK contributors.
I'm honestly so glad Stephen was brought onto the channel - drums are my favorite instrument, so not only is it always cool to hear about the things he notices in songs, but also we get rad ass stuff like this!! Would love to see more of his work :)
Kemal Fauzan thank you for your information, i just watched the video. Objectively saying, he only react to 1 song which is it cant be used for "conclusion" that their mixing is bad. Day6 members admitted they were having hard times during the mixing for their project in 2017 that they should release 2 songs every month and for the particular song the audio engineer reacting to, it was finalized 1 week before the due date so its kinda rushed that's why the mixing is pretty bad and they could've did better if they had more time. So probably the others song might have better mixing quality, especially the upcoming comeback.
Thanks for the response by both Alicia Jocelyn and Kemal Fauzan to my post. I actually agree with both of you in that day6 generally has a far nicer sound than that produced by most other kpop performers (at least in mainstream kpop). As for the track that was reviewed on this channel the mixing was well below their usual standards. Though even badly mixed the feel of the instruments still out performed the feel a lot of the electronic music produced by even some big names in kpop. Though I must admit i lean more towards the indy side of kpop such as Lee Hi, Lee Jin-Ah, etc.
I feel like drum covers are so rare so I'm always extremely pleased to hear a Kpop drum cover~~! And once again this was amazing. I'm awestruck because this looked so complicated. The amount of coordination required to play this or drums in general never ceases to amaze me. ahhhhhhhhhhhh THIS IS AMAZING! YOU ARE AMAZING, STEPHEN!!! THANK YOU to everyone who helped in producing this. My gosh, I'm in love w this. Also I've always loved the comments Stephen makes from his perspective as a percussionist. I'm sooo sooooo happy to hear this cover. THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU ;u;
Wow i never imagine myself tear in my eyes while someone plays the drum, amazing! ithink i feel what your trying to play in your performance! Dude i really love it
That was utterly mesmerising. I click so fast when I see this channel upload so I can put them on the list, but the covers get watched right away. Love it so much.
Holy crap, I haven’t seen too many drum covers in my time and they were mainly a friend’s who covered metal songs, but this was so awesome. The arrangement was perfect! Love all the different sounds you put in there that totally matched the vibe
Stephen my man this is fire
i can’t believe stephen invented percussion
The pauses are EVERYTHING

This DINOSAUR drum cover is the best I've seen so far...
And then I remember that he said his favorite was song was AKMU DINOSAUR...!
I'm so happy right now..
Cool Kiz what if the reason he liked dinosaur is bcs he knew he could do this with the song
Wait when did he say that? O_O
My ears have been blessed. :') Someone PLEASE send this to AKMU! They need to hear it.
After watching this, I really want to see brass band, jazz band, orchestra, choral, ensemble, and/or whatever configurations of instruments & voices covers of kpop
Jacob Kim me too omg
Holy crap its soooo good. The control just made this feel so clean and sharp.
Okay, who's crushing Stephen now? 😍😍
🙋🏻♀️
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Present!
JRMY KCharts 🙋
basically everyone
i have one (1) disappointment: the lack of dinosaur gear Stephen is wearing.
He needs to shop where Charlotte (aka Unicorn Girl) shops. ;)
I always find myself coming back to this. It's still my favorite version of the song. A percussive clinic.
The fact he plays in the pocket is so refreshing. Most drum covers have drummers going everywhere and just high key ruining songs but this ❤️❤️❤️🤤🤤🤤
yea, he gets it. It's my favorite style to listen to and play.
This was fascinating. So many layered beats all by one man, drumming is so cool.
Every now and then I like to come back to this because Stephen did such a wonderful job, and it is one of the most satisfying drum covers ever out there.
My admiration for Stephen just shot up from 40 to 4000 in just 4 minutes 🔥
and here i thought this song couldn't get any better
this solidifies the love affair between AKMU and ReacttotheK... such a perfect thing.
Doctor: you have 4 minutes and 16 seconds to live.
Me: *watches Stephen beautifully bang the shit out of the drums to Dinosaur*
That sounds kinda wrong lol
I keep going back to this cover!
I don't know whether I should be motivated or give up drumming whenever I see ppl like this lmao
Yeah budddddyyyyyy! Superstarrrr
I seriously didnt think that it would be this addictive. Wowwww
And this, ladies and gentleman, is the difference between a classically trained jazz drummer and typical youtube drummers.

Fair enough. Agreed about the trial and error and/or bad habits.
THAT WAS SO GOOD!!!! I love it when you upload videos like these, PLEASE continue to do so!
I love the sound of the snare every time he does a fill, pure bliss to any drummer
I also really how he uses the snare in the beat as ghostnotes that really make the beat pop
Stephen tingkat kegantengannya naik klo udh main drum gini..
He's a jazz monster too. A total master of jazz drumming.
Istg I keep coming to watch once or twice every month. Just to confirm that humanity still has a point...
New jam here, this also why live instrumen always have special place in heart
its actually superrrr cool having yall classical musicians that also love and appreciate kpop music!!
2:33 that was sick 😍😍😍
Istg if I ever get to show Chanhyuk or Suhyun one video in my life, it will be this one
Fucking NAILED it. I’m glad to see some of the musical skill being showcased on the channel. That way there’s added content variety, but more importantly it gives the reacting musicians more authority as they prove that they are very capable in the field!
Woah his mannerisms kind of fit the song
My favorite song and istrument together 😍

If only i could like this video a thousand times
I got #blessed and survived my fight with Tiamat. Stephen's work was just straight up TASTY. Like, artisan ramen TASTY.
This is so good.
Listening to Akmu it's always a good experience, but man, listening to this cover was something else.
Those different transition that He added it to the song, amazing.
Please do more of this kind of videos.
Love the channel
This is a video that I never knew I needed but am now entirely grateful for its existence. Amazing and he's so skilled.
LOVED the little tech play you did on the symbol @ 1:49.
First of all I got goosebumps while watching this and man do I love Stephens drumming face :P
I've known a few drummers in my day, and I'm always amused by drummer face. Stephen has a fun drummer face.

My favorite cover😍
This is why K-Pop needs to use real instruments!!!
DazzaCo try listen to Day6 to get what you want, your ears will be blessed
Kemal Fauzan oh really? Could u explain the detail which part?

This is beyond perfect!
