How can I say this....her singing was also her weeping. Throughout the song she wept, cried, bawled; every kind of crying that there is and she manifested them in song. Incredible.
Yesssss!!!!
Her story is sad. Her mom took her own life not long before this was recorded. She changed her name to Yebba ( aka Abbey Smith ) in respect to her mom and life. I'm not sure all the emotion was drawn here over a guy, but it was definitely drawn to the core. This girl has a pretty rare power in her music and needs to be out there for sure. We need lessons in empathy sometimes. She is a good teacher.
Thank you so much for telling her story
She actually took her life a week after, so I believe it was an issue that occurred before. Because her mom took her life after this recording.
@@freshboy99r Yeah, I believe that that is where things may be misinterpreted (unintentionally, I’m sure!) So, as beautiful and profound as the song is...her mother was actually aware of it and was a champion of her gift. Her mom suffered from mental illness and she ultimately the used the success of the song to bring awareness to the issue after her mother's death. Now, her song "Evergreen" was an actual tribute to her mom with the video being sung in her childhood church! Yebba is a powerful force and I so look forward to hearing more from her! P.S. She is also a recent Grammy winner for her feature with PJ Morton on the revamp of the BeeGees song “How Deep is Your Love” #teamyebba 🎼 🎶 👍🏾 😎~Lisa
her mother actually killed her self 5 days after this recording.
Evi Mynx I FEEL like SHE finally understood HER mother....
I can't think of many modern singers who can convey so much emotion with their vocals. Yes there are thousands of talented singers out there but you can literally feel this woman's anguish, which is what makes her so phenomenal. It is soul shattering. Loved your reaction.
Polythene Pam Thank you and I think we both can say that we love Yebba 😂
It was like you were sitting in the crowd watching her. No pauses, no talking just taking it in and living in the moment! Best reaction of her song!
You can be hurt by a woman too, not just by a man. I shed a few tears cause I felt the pain behind the melody.
Amy Winehouse was another powerful soulful singer from the UK. She passed away a few years ago, way to soon.
Mesmerizing isn't it Joseph?
Never have I seen you this quiet.
She has that type of affect on you.
She draws you in and you can just rest there❤
You simply shed that second tear for HER pain. That's compassion my friend.
Her pain is what I believe we all connect to... she truly is amazing
Your reaction is almost exactly what mine was. She's a force.
To be reckoned with!
Ed Sheeran brought me here.....
"She is by far my favourite new artist. Go listen to My Mind and Evergreen if you are new to her stuff, I promise it will give you goosebumps x" - Ed Sheeran
This was her first gig and Ed's team signed her immediately after this song.
I cry nearly every time I watch. I showed this to my mom and she cried as well. One of my favorite videos on youtube. She touched my soul.
Hard to not react like that when your soul is moved in such a way
that girl SAAAAAANNNNNNGGG that song. Love me some Yebba. Can you hear the worship in her voice. Church girl right there, born and raised. Loved this performance. So good!!! Her voice is ridiculous!!! Love me some Yebba. #YouBettaSANG
I'll never get over her soulfulness and just her general passion. You could hear her pain through every note and it's probably one of the best or the best performance(s) I've ever seen. It makes me proud to sing, even if I don't live up to someone as talented as her. Its just so beautiful 😭
Your reaction to this song, her vocals and the emotions projected by this amazing woman is by far the most purest reaction I have seen. And, I think I've seen every reaction on YT to this song.
You kept it real. Much appreciated.
This girl is ridiculous. I mean If I was playing the guitar I don't think I could have gotten through it. Clawd have mercy!! Seriously
At 60 years of age & a purveyor of all genres of music this song sung by Yebba Smith is in my opinion the most emotionally moving snd greatest live solo singing 🎤 performance I’ve ever heard in my life 💫🙌🏽💕
Definitely Grammy worthy!!!
Wow!! She is amazing!! As a woman who is pushing 50 & single, I felt every single bit of this song & her singing. Oh, yes, I have been a woman scorned a few times, in fact..never again tho. Tears freely flowed down my cheeks & when I was able o have clear vision, I looked up and saw your eyes watering & there I went again!! I am a dancer so music has been my lifeline, for as long as I can remember. I am adding Yebba to my playlist for sure! I love your vids, plz keep them coming!
I cried a lot during this song too. It is incredible. Hits you right in the feels.
It truly does!
Thank you for your reaction video - it is good to see other people reacting to it in the same way. Such intense goosebumps
The pain is palpable! 💔
Her pain is so deep 😢😭😢😖
It is!
Awesome reaction bro. Trust when everyone cries to this
I have cried every time I've listened to this omg. It's so nice to see such a beautiful, genuine reaction! Not to mention, you're fine as hell. Subscribed!
I cry with you every time.
My reaction was just like yours but with more tears (I'm a waterbucket) and I actually threw a pillow at my tv. I'm so obsessed with her and this song I downloaded it from youtube and saved it to my phone. You should react to the song "Smoke" with Luke Levenson feat her Abbey Smith. You'll want to fight the air after listening to her runs in that.
Love her Smoke performance, love me some Abbey Smith.
As a fellow waterbucket I would like to thank you for the tip on "Smoke".. Never heard it before, but I'm pretty sure I just died during that performance and then popped right back into life.. That woman just gets under your skin !
l just love her voice. 😍 Ugh! Such versatility packed with emotion. My niece hipped me to her, (4-16-18) l am soooo glad she did. To see you cry. Whoa. SMH here, it only speaks volumes to her performance. Wow.
I'm glad he did,nt interrupted the song .and judged it afterwards.🙏
This song is a war cry!❤
You reacted JUST as I did. I was so hurt. She made me feel. And i went from “ wait a minute to what?! Shock and tears” Subscribed.
Thank you for subscribing, I reacted to another video of hers today! Go check it out!
That was simultaneously one of the saddest and most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. After experiencing your reaction, how could I not subscribe!!
One of the most powerful, passionate performances I've ever seen. And seeing a bunch of reaction videos (to this performance) I can tell you that many men shed at least a couple of tears. And THAT is a good thing -- it shows we have empathy and sympathy for others.
I loved your Reaction compared to all others I've watched. Her performance made me cry. Loved your explanation for your tears.
I appreciate your reaction so much. I don’t just hear her songs...I feel her songs.
Someone shared her backstory in the comments, and it’s a reminder that anyone of us, at anytime, may be walking in pain. She reminds us through her talented brilliance. Much love to Yebba. Genuine thanks to you, for your depth of understanding.
Your reaction was so real, Thank You for sharing your raw emotion, that’s what her voice does to us!👏🏽🎤😜🎤👏🏽
Absolutely! She’s amazing!
I reacted the same way when I saw it bro. This was a real one :'( Great reaction! Btw your rass (Y)
Off the topic of Yebba, but your face is downright angelic.
And yes, this song is a total tearjerker.
Thank you so much! ❤️ and it really is. I reacted to her new single “Evergreen” recently!!! You should watch that!
This brought me to tears too, I understand how you feel. It takes you there.
I can remember hearing this song for the first time, it woke up feelings in me I thought were dormant.. She just evokes that from you emotionally.. I have listen to this so many times and I still cry.. I said all that to say it was beautiful watching your reaction to this beautiful song.. God bless
you aint the only one that has empathy
The fact that everyone in the audience didnt make a single sound not after her performance proves that everyone had her moved
Very soulful and heartfelt, now this right here IS TRUE SOUL MUSIC
Dj Mix I couldn’t agree more!
I'm bout to lose some tears, every time I hear this song.
Left by someone she loved! It hurt's when love leaves!
That was a tough listen, the emotion is damn near piercing! If you're not at least tearing up someone needs to check your pulse, she's got me emotionally screwed up over here!
Jojo I saw you start to feel anguish for whoever she was singing about lmao, her performance was stunning, vocal goals for meeeee
I've watched this hundreds of times and I howl every time.
I swear ... I must have been hiding under a rock to not hear of this woman until today. Though they are nothing alike, Yebba actually makes me think of Mahalia Jackson's song "Trouble of the World." She sang this song in the movie, "Imitation of Life," with Lana Turner. In both cases, Mahalia more so, the words seem to rise on tears. So heart-wrenching!
Cool that you picked up on that. Abbey Smith (Yebba) is PK out of West Memphis, Arkansas. Praise and Worship leader has cited The Clark Sisters and Aretha Franklin as her greatest influences. Yebba won a Grammy with PJ Morton. She's been featured on several artists songs. This was her breakout performance, signed immediately.
I love your reaction, like when you try to keep your masculinity to stay a man but you cry a little.....and I love your analysis, when you say that a good singer must be a good thinker....that's profound. And she, Yebba, is like a unique, beautiful, alien.
I really liked your reaction, glad to see more people discovering her!
Bro thanks for being vulnerable and real. Love it man. We can recognize greatness when we see and hear it and feel it. She’s amazing.
You're good, bro. That was an honest and open reaction. I've watched this video (I'm pretty sure) more than 50 times. And EVERY SINGLE TIME I break down and cry!!!! Can't even help myself.
The best reaction to this song I’ve seen on RUclips 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🥰
I think she is very good ! She felt it.
