I love how they still maintain the expressions of the actors from the reference, just far more subtly than in that footage. While it is more obvious with GMan, Freeman also is still doing Stiller's face, just very played down. You can notice it most in his eyebrows.

This is a weird phenomena I find in certain well-animated SFM clips. When a character is moving or doing something and other characters are doing their own separate animations in the background, I find it really satisfying. This is found in most media but I only get this satisfying sensation with SFM animation. This video does it pretty well tbh.
I think its because the Source Engine was kinda made for something like that
SFM animators have insane amounts of talent that they use on funny shitposts
There's so many poorly animated SFMs where there is only one action happening at the same time.
It's a composition technique.
Animators who work on the industry and even people who direct movies do it. It's a universal Technique

If Half-Life were a series, this would be a good scene for it, as the construction in the smallest details in addition to its atmosphere of tension and strangeness made the video much more than a meme.

Well he kind of is a villain, since he was also responsible for causing the Black Mesa incident because he gave them the crystal used in the experiment.
@@infinitewisdom8400 he's definitely a villain, just not the one you fight. His superiors hired him to destroy Combine. He decided to do that by using humanity and Earth as cheese in a mousetrap. For us he is 100% a villain.
@@TheArklyte Yeah that's my theory on the ending of the third game. We've seen black mesa east and portal already have teleporters, so the Borealis has to have something...more, otherwise the combine would just gun it for the scientists (rather than trying to find a decades old ship). I personally think it's a timeship like the Tardis, and that the Gman planned them to go back and destroy the fledgling combine through some extinction event. Hell maybe even mess with whatever ended up forming that life so it never occured.

Combine uses Dyson Sphere to fuel their portal shenanigans into other realities. Shut it down and they'd starve. We know that they keep all their eggs in one basket from how they've treated the Earth and humanity. Rather then using mankind as a staging ground to spread to our reality and harvest the whole of Milky Way, they decided to simply drain Earth alone and switch portal to some other world. They're short term parasite. And they're about to break their own jaw...

All jokes aside, this is actually pretty depressing. You see Freeman and his comrades had just fight the biggest beast of all the times and he probably expected to finally have some peace after all those hard work but no. The combine always got the upper hand of everything. Hmm I got a Metal Gear vibes here man

@@utes5532 I think there's a pretty good chance his "employers" are still the Combine, despite everything. There are a whole host of reasons they might have imprisoned him. Just think of his heavy handed methods of manipulating who lives and dies, and his "quelling those naysayers" when he rescued Alyx and Eli from Black Mesa.
Don't forget, the Combine let Alyx rescue G-Man. There was that whole bit where the woman was trying to talk to the advisor, telling them to MOVE THE DANG BOX, and the Combine's response was "lol itll be fine bro" when it so obviously was not fine.
Heck, maybe it wasn't even really a prison. Maybe it was some kind of observation deck. G-Man was watching *something* out of that apartment window.

After enough years since release and enough hours of playtime logged, I often forget just how much worse off the lives of the main cast - and the rest of humanity - are due to alien intervention. This meme format works a little too well at conveying the the pain of Half Life's dystopian Earth and the longing for a better life.

You get this scene its after apoint where our protagonists have seen hardship but seem to be making way. The plans to remove the combine from earth are meant to have all 3 of them together are the centre to work. No sign of G-Man despite not seeing the guy themselves upfront are fine with what Freeman has told them
Audience is happy. Then Gman enters the scene like a crow foretelling of imminent death and they got this stare down which is funny but also disturbing
Then bam unforgettable cutscene comes in once the drone flys in
Maybe the drone was not there for freeman but for GMan since the Gman clearly has his own adgenda maybe Freeman in trying to get away from Gman walks right into one of his antics and he is like "Oh you're here. unplanned but...somewhat predicted"

If they ever decide to finish this series and bring us Gordon's next chapter; I already feel sorry for the team that'll have to carry the burden of expectations. But I'm not so sure I want it to be made now, considering the serious hit and miss quality of storytelling we get these days.
