Great Video. You are very meticulous with the way you assembled these carbs. The key to doing anything like this is not to rush and keep it CLEAN. Thank you. Ill be doing mine soon.
Thank you for your patient explanations of the carbs. This might seem simple to you, but to me, your advice and experience is priceless. I'm new to outboards in general and my brother has just bought a Johnson 60 hp motor. He doesn't have the time to maintain the motor, so your advice is invaluable to me because he asked me to look at the motor and I have the time , but no knowledge of any motors and at 69 yo we don't have much time to learn new stuff lol. You have given me the confidence to follow your instructions and hope that it's successful in it's outcome. Thanks for your instructions.
Such an excellent tutorial. I am having serious running issues with my Johnson 70 vro at the moment and am convinced it is a fuel/carb issue. After searching for information, i came across your video and will be putting it into practice tomorrow. Thank you
Thank you so much for the video. This is the only one I've seen on youtube that shows, 'how to remove the linkage from the carbs'. I don't have the 'same' motor but it was close enough for me to remove and rebuild my carbs myself. Thanks again :)
Great video, I was a little hesitant on working on my 60hp outboard carburetor, just like yours just because I never done it before. But with your video and detail on how to take it apart it was no problem at all. Thank you very much
Well now I believe my bogging problem was from the rookie job I did. Was just about to dump my evinrude 150 because of 2 cylinders with low compression. I'm thinking if I clean correctly that it might just work. Thanks! Awesome video!
Very detailed and informative. The problem I'm having with my 2000 Johnson 115 HP V4 60 deg is that the primer buld never gets hard and I flood my carbs; fuel literally spills out into my air silencer assembly. I believe it's the needle that is worn out and not stopping the fuel when the float bowl is full. Ordering my rebuild kits, gonna do all four. Thanks and great vid!
@Jason Hinojosa that's good I did rebuild mine but didn't really clean those tiny holes. So I'll have to pull them off again and give them a proper cleaning. Thanks
Great tutorial!! Along with it actually solving my problem. Cant believe it worked, thanks for the video and like you said if theres any bad lines change em while your in there...not on a lake! lol
"Its got to get it cleaner than my little sisters mind" "Just because its new doesn't mean its perfect, just like a girlfriend" you crack me up. Best tutorial out there!!!! Thank you!
Great video, im about to jump into cleaning mine on a Evinrude 70 which by the looks of things is a very similar if not the same motor with different stickers on it. Ill be sure to let you know how I do and if it solves my idle issue! keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks for the way you teach me this carb cleaning. You are the best of all the videos I have watched. One more question. How often you have to perform this carb cleaning. Thanks again.
Is the rebuild kit good for a 70 of the same yr, or close to it? I need a vid of the fuel line locations of each carb, mine are broken and no idea where they go. Thank you for the vid sir.
i the same motor but i have the same carb as your top but i have three carbs just like your top so there is a low idle screw how many turn on that screw thank
I have a very similar outboard. I took boat out on water. After getting home and taking the hood off the motor I noticed gas and oil dripping off the bottom two carbs. Why would this happen?? Thanks.
I have the same motor - but I am only getting about 4k rpm at full throttle...I may need to adjust my linkage...what rpm should I expect at full throttle?
Great video! Unfortunately, I didn't make it very far during the rebuild process. Somehow I managed to break the fuel line nipple (0314513 ) off of the carb leaving me scratching my head how I'm going to fix this. Any suggestions?
I have a Johnson 1989 60hp motor with carburetor 432666 which has two fuel connectors. I broke the fuel nipple that connects to the electric primer toward the top of the carb. I was able to push out the remaining piece and need a replacement part. Can anyone help by directing me to where I can purchase such part without buying an entire new carb? It is NOT part 0314513 - NIPPLE, FUEL
I have a 90hp Johnson 2001, when I start it runs a few seconds and die, sometimes it will run a little longer but when I put it in gear it dies. Can you give an advise what I should check, I have cleaned the carburator, what else should I try? Tks Len
I have the 1986 Johnson 60 hp VRO and am considering rebuilding the carbs and replacing all the fuel lines. Which carb kit did you use? Have you got the part number or know how I can get it? Looks like a fun project. Were all your fuel lines connected with zip ties from the factory? I had one leaking fuel line where it was double zip tied and I replaced it with a hose clamp (which I'm minded to do on all fuel line connections (which are zip ties).
i have a 70 hp evinrude, it runs great about half of the time, other half about 1/4 throttle is all i get. trying to determine if its carbs or fuel pump.. frustrating. great video!
hey boss. got a 98 johnson , followed your vids to a tee. but can't seem to find out why my carb bowls are flooding out. I even dropped the floater so that the needle shuts sooner. Mine is an electric start with the solenoid. Got new needle, new seat, from the carb rebuild kit. Anything else that would be causing a flood?
I have a 70hp VRO and it looks exactly like yours. Do you have any videos on how to close up the VRO and just mix your own gas? I don't want to mess with that whole oil tank on my pontoon. I'd rather just mix the gas like I do for my bass boat.
From what I understand, just remove the vestiges of the oil injector system, and mix like normal. Mine was removed when it was purchased. The old man who bought it didn't trust or understand the VRO system.
brilliant video, quite extensive rebuild, I have a similar Ev 60Hp, with 2 carbs 1986, idle is terrible so im suspecting the carbs need a rebuild. how often is this rebuild needed ? every 4-5 years ?? would have loved to hear it crank over after the build
+John Flynn John I have always run my motor dry from gas and then fogged the enjine before I put it away for the season,it only takes a few min and I have never had to clean or rebuild again,25yrs.
I'm running 50:1 mix. That's what it calls for. I run that in my 89 75hp and my 96 60hp. On my 96 I'm going to replace the VRO pump when I get the funds to do so. For now I'm running an old style pump.
anyone know where i can get that fuel line fitting he has on his motor? the 1 in 4 out. Looks like 5/16 in and out with three 1/4" out. shows it at 1:12
Great Video. You are very meticulous with the way you assembled these carbs. The key to doing anything like this is not to rush and keep it CLEAN. Thank you. Ill be doing mine soon.
I was afraid to do the carbs on my 1973 Johnson 50 hp. After watching this, my carb kits are on the way. Thank you for a truly pro video.
“Just because it’s new, doesn’t mean it’s perfect. Just like a girlfriend.” This is good old-fashioned experience for all aspects of life. Love it
One of the finest how-to tutorials on RUclips.

Just got this Old Johnson 65, been a mechanic all my life. Very informative what a great video thank you thank you thank you
Really great tutorial for someone just getting into boating. Helped my rebuild my first outboard carbs.
very good tutorial on the carbs, especially being the plastic topped on the later engines.
Excellent video! Thank you for taking the time to make it!
Thank you so much for the video. This is the only one I've seen on youtube that shows, 'how to remove the linkage from the carbs'. I don't have the 'same' motor but it was close enough for me to remove and rebuild my carbs myself. Thanks again :)
Excellent video helped me with an Evinrude 40 carby issue loved the good boy accent from here in Australia. Great work!
You are the best narrator ive seen on you tube..well done sir.
I love the way you talk. You make me laugh, but good useful information, because that's what I working on right now on the same outboard.
Simply EXCELLENT! Thank you Ralph.....
Great lesson, even though I have a 06 Honda 90hp has a carb, i still learned basics which I will use on mine. Thanks
Nice video! I have a 1991 Evinrude 60hp VRO that needs the carbs done.
Humorous and thorough. Very helpful. Enjoyed watching.
Great video, I was a little hesitant on working on my 60hp outboard carburetor, just like yours just because I never done it before. But with your video and detail on how to take it apart it was no problem at all. Thank you very much
Wanted to say THANKS for posting this. You saved me time and money, by showing me how to do this job myself! My motor is back to running smooth!
X
I'm glad it helped...that was my objective...
Well now I believe my bogging problem was from the rookie job I did. Was just about to dump my evinrude 150 because of 2 cylinders with low compression. I'm thinking if I clean correctly that it might just work. Thanks! Awesome video!
Best explanation I've seen. I have a Johnson 60 hp 1990 Non VRO, going to do mine now, thanks!

Great and helpful video. Thanks for taking the time to film this. Great job...
Hey Buddy very good advice I did like you said and had a very good running motor instead of a lots of problems..Thanks

Mr Pierre, love your videos. Need some info. I detached fuel and vacuum lines without taking pictures. can you show me how to reattach?
Good video, i learned a lot, thanks
Thank you, sir!
lot tell,but litl show.
You forgot the idle mixture screw setting. That's why I spent 29 minutes watching your video .
Thanks for the way you teach me this carb cleaning. You are the best of all the videos I have watched.
One more question. How often you have to perform this carb cleaning.
Thanks again.
When it shows signs of not performing...won't idle, bogs down and stalls, ect...
Best video on the web!! Hahaha your awesome man

Should I check my reed vales will I have of the three carbs off even if the motor (1998) is running ok ? Just want to clean and rebuild the carbs.
Is the key switch choke supposed to move that red lever on the primer I hear the butterflies closing but what is supposed to trigger that primer
Thank you.
Great video on carb kit replacement. Any chance you could make video on adjusting the carbs? I don't know what screw does what.
did you find out how to adjust the carbs?

Grandma Monica fuel filter
most likely fuel pump then do stator and power pack test

fixed jets on these no adjustments

Thomas Flynn drill and use "easy out" they are like a drill that screws in woth left hand threads and tightens themselves while loosening the bolt

How long do we dip the carbs? You didn't remove the jets?
I left the carbs in the cleaner overnight. I didn't remove the jets, just put a fine wire through them and made sure that they were unobstructed.
Well I just got one and can't get that bastard right. Lean sneeze no matter how much adjusting to these carbs. Burnt out with a Johnson. LoL
Cracked pickup tube was my problem the whole time.
Have you checked to see if you have a cracked, broken, or obstructed reed valve?
