  • On this episode of Biohack-HERS, HigherDOSE Founders Lauren Berlingeri and Katie Kaps meet with Yarixa Ferrao - aka, Coach Yarixa - the founder of Unleash!, to experience the healing benefits of ecstatic dance. As CEOs, Lauren and Katie don’t always have the time to let loose, but in the pursuit of science, they’re tapping into their wild side to see if this biohacking experience really works.
Ecstatic dance dates back to Ancient Greece where citizens believed they could achieve trance-like godly states through free movement. And, today, new agers, burners, and conscious communities alike practice this form of primal movement for the same benefits. For this Biohack-HERS experience, Coach Yari guides Lauren and Katie through a journey of self-discovery with the help of primal dancing and movement, which not only allows them to open up and experience a little more fun and freedom but also comes with a host of health benefits.
Dance is a powerful biohacking tool that decreases stress hormones such as cortisol while increasing happy chemicals, which can boost the mood, relieve anxiety, and help reset the nervous system. It can also help get the mind and body in a flow state, which is known to increase happiness and creativity, help regulate emotions, and ignite motivation.
Does dancing like nobody’s watching really alter your state of being? Find out on the latest episode of Biohack-HERS.

Awesome episode of HigherDOSE! 🙌 Watching the two of you "Unleash" your movement was a beautiful experience. 💃💃💃As a dance reconnection specialist and dance passion mentor, I always say "Free your 'eternal dancer' and empower your infinite creativity!" You three did that together and it was not only a powerful experience for you, though also to all of us getting to watch and be inspired. Thank YOU!!

This dovetails with "Original Strength", which has a channel on RUclips as well. Primal crawling, rocking and rolling. So good for people with injuries, especially brain injuries. Combining it with grounding barefoot on the grass is even better! Another thing I could add is getting a trampoline. You can use it year round and it's a wonderful surface for this type of movement!

I remember catching a few old clips of some show called “So You Think You Can Dance” and it reminded me of times all throughout my life where I’d see dance performances that would capture me in a way like no other, and some forms of music. I would feel this pit within, needing to burst and then I would tear up and sometimes cry. Same with certain music. Mostly old, traditional dance, modern ballet is my favorite. There isn’t much music or “dance moves” anymore that give this experience Im trying to explain. I feel like this type of therapy would be perfect for me. Love it!

I need to do this SO bad, can I come visit, lol? I fear this type of thing, but I know it’s something I truly need to do.
I started gymnastics very young and did it for years. Did some ballet, rode horses, and active all the time. Then high school, college, and jobs ended all that, and I lost that freedom of movement, that trust in my body to fly and spin backwards thru the air, and land on my feet. To spin around the uneven bars.
My job is fairly physical, so it kept me kind of in shape. But years pass and I am completely out of shape, extra weight, flexibility is gone, muscles weak, no more bouncy energy. Aches and pains, hate my reflection.
I wish I hadn’t taken my fitness for granted, but I did. And I want to find a way to get fit and feel better. I’ve never done classes bc I’m too embarrassed, and I don’t know how to dance. I get self-conscious even thinking about it!
This looks like the perfect way to get out of my head and get moving, to just play…
    Thanks for the inspiration!

People can't help the location, skin suit, and cards they are dealt at birth. I know many here in the US who have gone through a living hell because of my ex's job in court. What is wrong with sharing ideas about stress relief? What would you say if my wealthy and healthy Latina friends put up such a vid? We never know the cross someone bears.

People carry a lot of trauma that you know nothing about. Including generational trauma that’s been passed down through generations. There is science coming out now to prove we carry the pain, trauma, and unresolved issues of our familial ancestors. And that gets compounded on top of everything an individual experiences in their own life. It’s easy to sit from an outside perspective behind your screen and judge others and make comparisons and act like one person’s problems is greater or lesser than your own or someone else’s. One of the most damaging ideas in healing is that your pain “doesn’t matter” and “isn’t a big deal” because other people “have it worse”. It makes people feel ashamed to talk about what’s bothering them and to seek help, or even admit to themselves that something is wrong and that they need help. Shaming someone for trying to find peace, joy, happiness, and healing ain’t it. What we see in the outside world reflects what’s happening inside of us. People are our mirrors, and you’ve revealed a part of yourself here. Also, since your handle states you’re a guy, you’re not really licensed to comment sarcastically about what it’s like to be a woman of any race. Not saying women have it “harder” than men, but being human comes with its pitfalls and hardships regardless of your gender, race, whatever. Keeping score on other people’s problems and passing judgment on them only proves a disconnect within yourself and your own ability to have empathy for others. 🤷🏻‍♀️
