Hey everyone! *Small wheel gang unite* 💪 bit of a weird folder today, but hope you like it! Some cool parts, handy mods and nice long wheelies to cap it off. See you in another video in the next couple weeks, Kona is up next 🫡 💓
That goose neck stem looks perfectly matching for bike of such size. I will consider this example for my mini or folding bike build in future. Thanks ❤️
Hey Toasty😉really cool build🌸😎because of my smaller size I like the 20th much and be proud to own some 20 and 24 inch ones😃my oldest one is a single speed, really rusty over the decades. I took it apart about 30 years ago, rebuilt it, painted it black and called it „little black one“☺️it’s still running and actually pulls a little trailer on local cleanup days! Excited what’s coming up next, cheers👋🏻
Hey! Thanks so much 🥹🤙 I love the smaller wheels, even at my height they’re so much fun! 😆 the little black one sounds like a great bike, thanks for sharing 👍 I should try my trailer behind the Raleigh20 sometime 😍 Thank you, see you in the next one!
This bike has to be one of the quirkiest project you have done. You have turned a naff machine into something attractice and interesting. Thanks for posting, I enjoyed watxhing
Man i got to work up the courage to modify the bb on one of these 20s. A twenty ride always puts a smile on my face. Ive fixed up 6 or so for friends over the year's
Tidy job, very innovative. Love a folding bike I do - they might make you look like a circus clown but you're the one laughing when you can just hop on the bus or the train with it. Growing up in England in the nineties, Raleighs were everywhere.
The thing about "standards" is that everyone wants their particular version to be the one and only, and they also frequently change! It's usually a case of others gradually following whatever a market leader does. Raleigh were one of the biggest, if not THE biggest bike manufacturer in the world at the time they chose those sizes, so it wasn't stupid. You could find Raleigh bikes and spare parts pretty much everywhere. I might be biased though, I was born and still live in Nottingham UK, the birthplace of both Raleigh and Humber bicycles. 😁
Incredible. Thank you so much for this video. It has inspired me to modify an old Riley folding bike I have for a travel. didn’t realise I’d have so much to consider though with Paul bracket et cetera.
I didn’t know they were worth that much 😆 I’ll be replacing them soon with some Dia-compe Mx2’s so I can have matching levers 👌 Might put them up for sale once I swap them 😆
That’s what I go for! Jank with some practical/usable upgrades 👌 gotta keep it safe enough to rip around on and neglect for a while too, as it tends to happen. Haha only on a Raleigh20 would a roller brake be a huge needed improvement! 😆 thanks for watching!
Sweet build, Bro. Respect. I am a big fan of Morrison's N.Z. Raleigh 22" H frame shopper. Lovely racks back and front! I also have 2 x BSA 18"s and a Sun 20" of the same design, altho none fold. All have S/A 3 speeds with original Brooks leather saddles on the English ones. Really cool urban bikes in my town with few hills. Cheers.
Hi toasty, if the little window in the hub is worn, you can turn the bike over. all Shimano hubs have two indicator metal pins that need to align too. They’re coloured either red or yellow aswell.
HOW DARE YOU! How DARE you DESTROY such a RARE CLASSIC amazing bike. It was a MASTERPIECE before you DESTROYED IT!! Sorry just had to get that in before the crazies get here. Great job Ad. I’ve still got mine stashed away that I did exactly the same mods to a year or so ago 😂 The fork is a good idea though because fuck Raleigh standards and the shitty long reach brakes!
Hahaha Mark here representing the angry British purists 😂👌 love it. Thanks heaps mate! The fork was a big bonus, gives plenty of tyre clearance too. The roller brake sort of made the V up front redundant as it works so well, only on long or steep decents I really needed the front brake. Happy to have it there for those times, bloody strong brake 👌 those long reach brakes can go to hell! Disc convert one 👀
You keep showing impossible conversions. That BB cut is amazing. I still remember how you converted a 12-speed with an old Deore shifter. Please make a video of that.
6:50 ouch. just the tip take some off just for the Hell of it. I approve. lets go for 69mm thanks for all the shout outs. XD 10:30 I have a Rockhopper in about that exact color here beside me... Violet Grey 94 I think
How is this holding up mate? We've got one of these hanging out in the workshop & I've been thinking about how useful it would be to have an airport bike lately. Looks like a great option for gentle riding.
It’s holding up well, highly recommend it! Don’t go too crazy $$ wise until you ride it though. They handle just fine, yet to compare it next to a Dahon (picking up a Classic Stainless version next week). But it’s really useful for me I think, and the fold hinge feels sturdy when riding 👍 I’ve done many wheelies and some light gravel/offroad tracks on it too(no hard drops though) and it’s been great.

Love the sound of the NZ birds. Reminds me of my honeymoon
Great build! You inspired me to restore my old czech folding bike! Might have to find some 24" Nexus 3 wheels for it.
Glad to hear it, have fun with the build! 24” nexus will be cool 👌 good luck with the search!
It's a folder but it fits you really well. Thanks for the video, today was a master class.
It’s a good size these, nice handling too once the headset gets sorted 👌 glad you liked it, cheers for watching!

@@toastyrides You’re welcome! Pulling a trailer is much fun with a 20😎
That velo orange stem is truly a masterpiece for small buke builds.
Really is quite handy! Have a couple of them and love em, great for dropbar conversions on old mtb’s too. Gets the bar nice and high 👌
This bike has to be one of the quirkiest project you have done.

Growing up in England in the nineties, Raleighs were everywhere.
I just received some parts yesterday for the Bike Friday folding bike that I’m refurbishing, how serendipitous!
Ooh lovely! What are the odds 😆 will be a fun bike once it’s back together, enjoy! 🤙
I swear that's the frameset I nearly bought on ebay a few months ago! Very nice. I ended up with a non folding one.
Ooh rad! The folding one is really handy. We don’t have eBay here but this came to me free from a mate, the best kinda source 👌😆
Great to see I’m not the only one mad enough to take on a custom build with one of these! Loved how mine turned out - great to ride too!!!
I learn so much from you! Running to get my hacksaw right now.
Happy to help! Haha gotta appreciate the hacksaw 👌😆 thanks for checking it out, happy cutting!
my sister had one when we were kids, thanks man
Happy to hear it! Once were very popular bikes, for good reason 👍 happy riding!

I appreciate your home brew machine work.
Cheers mate! Haha stoked to have a cool Raleigh20 in my lineup now 👌
Incredible. Thank you so much for this video. It has inspired me to modify an old Riley folding bike I have for a travel. didn’t realise I’d have so much to consider though with Paul bracket et cetera.
The first folding bike I've seen that actually looks cool
Jaysus those XT brakes are totally overkill but I love it 🤣
Haha I laughed to myself as I spotted them, couldn’t resist throwing them on this 😆👌 Raleigh20 crappy brakes be gone! ✨
Cool bike toasty, what a transformation.... your wheelies are outrageous!!!
I thought this was going to be built as a dingle speed , nice work Mr toasty
Whoa! Dia Compe Puzzle levers! I recently sold a set of those for 200usd. They are supremely sought after in the retro bmx world.
I didn’t know they were worth that much 😆 I’ll be replacing them soon with some Dia-compe Mx2’s so I can have matching levers 👌
Might put them up for sale once I swap them 😆
@@toastyrides yeah i was surprised too! came on a bike i bought and more than paid for it
Something fresh and unique 👌
Very interesting bike.
Cheers from Greece.
Very strange standards on it too haha, thanks for watching! 🙌
Very nice; just the right amount of jank. You don't see many internal gear hubs and roller brakes in restomods.
That’s what I go for! Jank with some practical/usable upgrades 👌 gotta keep it safe enough to rip around on and neglect for a while too, as it tends to happen. Haha only on a Raleigh20 would a roller brake be a huge needed improvement! 😆 thanks for watching!
You could add like a quick release on one of the steam bolts so you can easily twist or remove the handlebars
The Brompton fold is called the "tri-fold" since it folds into 3 parts. Swingarm, center frame and steering.
Sweet build, Bro. Respect. I am a big fan of Morrison's N.Z. Raleigh 22" H frame shopper. Lovely racks back and front! I also have 2 x BSA 18"s and a Sun 20" of the same design, altho none fold. Hacksaw facing! Brilliant!

I'll watch it first thing in the morning.
Cheers Arphy! You beat me to posting my comment 😂👌
Sheldon Brown lives! Old school restomod!
Aaaand now I know what I want to do with my Inter8 setup I have lying around. Heck yeah.
Haha it’s plenty of gearing for the smaller wheel bikes! The 8 gives a big range, really liking it 🤙
I hv a redline Has those cranks already just needs the rear single speed sprocket This kind of inspires me to make it like this
Love me a 20 shopper build😍👍
HACKSAW TIME!!!! 😂
Can you wheelie it and fold the front end at the same time? lol
I think I’d end up bending it 😂
Mint build ❤

Could’ve retained the ethnic purity by using a Sturmey archer hub, drum brake or coaster brake, they both work great

The odds of this video the day after I buy almost the same bike
The timing! What’s the plans for yours? Have fun with it 😎👌
@@toastyrides just a little restore to good enough condition. I’m a trucker so it’s nice to have a bike on the road!
i have the same one but in green needs some work
❤❤❤❤
Eu tinha uma bicicleta parecida com essa , só o quadro não era dobrável. Isso há quase 40 anos atrás ...
i like the stem. what brand is that?
What stem is that I want to do a similar build
The black one is a VeloOrange Cigne, the chrome one is one made for a fundraiser for Charlie Cunningham
