@@PierceWatkinsSE I think beginning with the identification of values really puts people in the right frame of mind to be willing to change their position in light of new evidence. Once they identified that harm/well-being was the most important value underlying their stance, they were very open to changing their mind IF they were to have compelling evidence that a different strategy achieved their goals.
With these sorts of normative "should do" claims I think this is a really beneficial approach that cuts directly to the heart of the issues. It's great. Great job.
I also like the prompt "What one thing would you change about the world?" - Did that question generate a lot of interest and conversations for you?

Thank you. I like to think how these things are framed is really important for how people ending up thinking about the normative claims they make.
The prompt worked fairly well. I got lots of answers like 'end world hunger' and 'end all war'. My next question generally was 'How do we acheive this?'. Typically the answer was either 'I don't know' or a normative claim. It was a different prompt and it was fun.

@@NavigateWithNate One last question, do you think this was Street Epistemology or something else?

      @@PierceWatkinsSE hmmmm...
I would have to rewatch it, but I would lean more toward "something else".
If you spent more time discussing how they know that their strategy is more effective for achieving their goals or how we could test their strategy then I think it would be SE. Another few questions spent on that would have been both beneficial and made it qualify. But from what I remember of the conversation,I don't think you really addressed epistemology.
So I don't think it was actually CE either, since the E in CE stands for epistemology. This was more NVC-related, I think.
I still think it was great, and very productive. The next step would be to conduct SE with the claim "comprehensive evidence-based sex education is more effective at achieving our desired outcomes than abstinence-only based sex education".

I need help from anybody in the SE community who can! Please let me know who can watch my first interview before I have my second interview with the same person in 10 days! I'm trying to be careful with my words here, because my messages keep getting deleted by the algorithm. 🙏
