Dang... I miss my Maxxum 7D. I preordered it from Ritz Camera online back when it was about to release. It definitely had new tech that other camera companies didn't have like sensor shift image stabilization. All prime and zooms became stabilized! Plenty of manual button controls for fast operations. It was a great camera!
I know this is an older video, but I’ll share my 7D experience. When I got mine it always requested the date/time to be set. If you put a fresh charged battery in and switch it on and leave it ( it will go to sleep after a while, but leave it switched on) there is a good chance the internal battery will recover in a couple of days. Hope this helps
The 7D is a great camera. Thanks for sharing your interest. In 2004 there were no cameras with built in image stabilization and even lenses were just getting into it. I'll never let mine go since the images have a nice film look similar to the Fuji S series cameras.
I bought mine for about 70 USD, one and half years ago and this is really a nice camera. The build quality is very good and the performance is also very good, very user-friendly control and fast AF. The AWB is sometimes unstable but when it spot on it gives you the sharp image with rich color. 6mp is not a problem if you have some nice glasses it's more than enough to look at it 100% on a 2k screen. Manged to get some cheap fast lenses(Tamron SP 20-40/2.7-3.5, Tamron SP 35-105/2.8, Minolta 50/2.8 Macro) and love it so much.
Thanks for the feedback. I've been eyeing mine on the shelf every so often and I want to take it out for some shooting. I want to see how it compares to current cameras. I know resolution will be one of the biggest differences.
Minolta had a 500mm reflex (mirror lens) with AF. It is the only AF lens ever made for an SLR/DSLR I always wanted to try it with this camera with it as a sort of stealth extreme telephoto.
Hi, I just bought one very cheaply 66* euro on ebay, so will do the same cleaning, thanks for sharing, now I know how to do it !Based on my research, this may be a super camera even now 2018, what comes to ergonomics, naturally maybe after send some time and really having learnt the buttons. Also, 6mpix is actually a lot. If my math is correct, you have to have a 4K/UHD display to out-phase that ! If you use any normal today's (2018) computer display, you do are not even close utilizing all the resolution this camera offers !So, in my opinion, todays supermegapixes cameras would be better, if less pixels and manufacturers concentrating on other aspects of picture quality. We already see pro models coming out, with reduced pixel count than comparable earlier models. *had to buy batteries, charger, memory card, so not that cheap eventually...
This is a great camera with a lot of buttons.... thats something you dont find on most cameras now.... the image quality is great too .... i hope you enjoy your new camera
Thanx, I am sure I will. Just have to get some fresh enough suitable batteries and a charger first! Those were not included, suitable memory cards I do have, though
Minolta waited too long . By the time this came out , 8 megapixels and higher was hitting the market at a lower price point . The lens offering was off the mark too . A great camera , but too little too late .

I adore my 7D. It only gets about 11 stops of DR but I love the images it produces.

I just purchased a Minolta Maxxum 7d as well as a Sony a850. I was wondering what it would be like to shoot with the 7d.
$200 for the camera, 4 batteries, charger, 3 lenses, Minolta Flash unit and hard case.
How did your 7D camera testing go? How were the pictures? Did you post samples anywhere like on Instagram? Interested to know. Thanks.

That thing is so heavy. It looks like it'll be fun to play with though. :)
Indeed, you are free to use it. :)
it's not heavy. you must not have ever used a professional body. now those are heavy.

Weird, I also got my from an uncle XD
Why do uncles do this? LOL
What a wasted of time. This is not a review at all. You just got a free camera from your uncle.
