- In a world of Turbo's and Nitrous, this 1964 Ford Fairlane is ALL MOTOR! Featuring a naturally aspirated 585ci Big Block Ford. Always cool to see something different, from the Ultra Street Class at the Outlaw Street Car Reunion at Memphis Motorsports Park.
- Авто/Мото
Grew up in Detroit and used to go to the drags with my parents in the 60s. The cars that stood out to me...the Ford Thunderbolts...427 Fairlanes.
I did the same! Many nights on Woodard ave as well
I still believe FE Fords were, & are the best production race motors ever. Chevy stole the design FE for the LS.
The Flathead predecessor being the Y block is what was copied and mimicked by Chrysler and Ford also used it in several other engine families as well. Then the LS came along as a “brand new” design until I show the Chevy guys the bare Y block on a stand in my garage 🤣🤣🤣
@@brianrhoads86 Me too. Age 17, all black 70 SS Chevelle 396. High 12 e.t.’s.
Same here! Eat many a 5x5 at Teds and cruse and race.
It is fun to watch a big block ford clean house.
Exactly!
Ridiculous... the Thunderbolt was just a monster... and this 585 modded Fairlane is... well... just listen to that mill! One of the best-sounding cars I have ever heard.
It's fast enough to make you think it's running an 8th mile.
Consistent little bugger. Ford power all the way!
I use to have a 351c Mach 1. I burnt a valve had to pull the head. I ask my Uncle hey if I pull one head I should pull the other he said Yep. Then I said if I pull the heads I might as well pull the motor he said Yep. I did, at 17 I rebuilt the 351c. My dad was a Mopar man but he heard how 351s was & he bought it. Beautiful dark yellow & black. It had bucket seats & shoulder harnesses. Mopar/ Ford dude.
There's actually a SBC under that hood.
That car has absolutely everything going for it, The car it's self is and always has been beautiful. The color is perfect. It's obviously a top-notch mechanical build. The BIG Ford engine has a sound that screams power from start to finish with a 5 second Win. AS Ford guy I've been waiting a while to see something so perfect. Good work guys! Love it.
Agreed on top notch!! Very minimal front end lift. It sticks and runs straight time after time. Love it
That engine screamed. it's always nice to see a car dialed in and the driver in the groove.
For sure this guy is a real starting line artist.
@@davenettlesmusic2954 And he knows his car.
That's one bad ass car. not only does it power but the chassis definitely works too!
Yup, thing looked like it was on a rail
+Jerome Davis Really, it just hooks up and moves. Straight as an arrow with what appears to be little or no wheelspin.Amazing chassis / build.
Runs on a rail
Even the 64 (4 door) fairlanes have the 4 torque boxes! No worries, putting 400 hp in one of those sleepers!!
Man that thing can leave nice. Well balanced. Perfect combo.
I love when an NA car beats someone spraying or boosting
Got one like it. 351w. Not ready for the strip. But coming along nicely! Fairlanes are just plain fun!
What a car, what a build - beautiful, gnarly and fast!
Got to love the sound of FE power!
It's actually a 385 series big block Ford, 460 base.
who actually owns it who did chassis is it tube frame mine has never hooked like that when will they meet again i will attend
427med Lester Combs.
427med it's a stock chassis with a beautiful cage and chassis setup. If I remember correctly it is using leaf springs.
FE or 460 style of motor?
Man what a sweet car!!! It's so great when they turn out like this!!!! Ford Muscle.
I love the way that Fairlane leaves the line! Excellent setup, very consistent!
The sound is amazing
looks like Ford clean house, the same way they did back in the 60s
Lol. Really? That's not how I remembered it.
SORRY BUT 409" 327" CLEANED HOUSE IN THE 60TH...
@@joeboden8898 ?? Except for the Ford Thunderbolts...my recollection was Chrysler Mopar Hemi all the way.
@@topgeardel He's referring to the 1964 NHRA Super Stock division where the Thunderbolt cleaned house.
I also remember a certain sanctioning body outlawing a Ford engine because it was too good, north of 100 hp over the hemi. (427 SOHC) ...and that's accounting for the Hemi's actual output of over 500 hp.
@@joeboden8898 Did you forget about the cammer ford 427
Damn, that's a high revving engine for its size!
Its a ford.
A couple of my buddy's and I used to race our bike at this strip back in 1970, the strip is still there, impressive. I think we were probably some of the first guys to use wheelie bars on our bikes back then.
Man what a beautiful looking car !!
The only thing that would make this car perfect would be if the gentleman was slammin a manual. For me, back in the day, 70's, 80's etc, alot of racing was heads up & people were slamming 4 speeds. For me that's the true test of how good a driver is. This is an incredible car & it's hard to beat a T-Bolt. My hats off to this guy.
my kid was asking why a 4 speed and not five, I said you only need 4 gears to get to the finish line. Thumbs up !
The Thunderbolt usually came with a 427 SOHC and an Auto, as far as I have seen anyway. I cannot believe the revs he is putting this motor through...WOW.
Carat Cranker no Thunderbolt ever came with a 427 SOHC. They all came with 427 High Rise FE motors. Half of the 100 Thunderbolts produced had automatic transmissions, the other half had 4 speeds.
John T I don't know if it was 50/50 or not. I do know they were Lincoln autos,we seen a real t-bolt with the automatic on the column in a guys old 1 car garage in Greensburg, IN. It was a burgundy color.
@@johnt9810 as you say, 427 high-rise sideoilers only and like 80% with 4-speeds
WOW, it revs like a 289.....fantastic car !!
Someone knows their stuff, that car is smooth and clean every time.
I like this car,.always liked those hoods on the old fords
me too old fords with killer hoods!
Yeah buddy!!! fairlane, mustang or galaxy, those hoods not only functional, but really good looking to !!!!
Strictly functional and eye catching too.
I had a 65 Mustang fastback in the 70's and put one of those on it.
Beautiful Ford with Ford power & Fast, doesn't get any better!!!!!
amen it aint no half bred and is all FORD motor
This is the most consistent car I have seen this year and I am viewing it in June of 2022! I remember seeing these at CT Dragway back in the 70's. 1/4 mile in the high 9s low 10s. That was amazing for back in the olden days.😎
this is my favorite muscle/track brawler ever made....427 ford power
FoMoCo LS Eater.
this is a beast of a machine very beautiful car and a very beastly wicked big block under its hood beyond impressive blue oval thunder destroying the competition as always awesome sight to see and hear great video
Too bad it isn't a FE. You can't build a FE that big, but no matter, it does run.
MADE THAT CAMARO LOOK LIKE A 4 CYLINDER LMAO
Dave's Radio Repair yep Ford has been doing that for a LONG time
Notice the HolmanMoody plate in front and take a hint
Can't be an F.E. engine, even with aftermarket blocks, 526 cu.in. is as big as they can be bored and stroked. The info says 585 cu.in.
Beautiful and fast 64 Fairlane.
awesome ride I own one I bought when I was 15 first car I ever bought I'm now 39 can't beat the look of a 64 best looking year they made in my opinion. Beautiful car
In Australia, they were called a compact Fairlane, for those who would be interested.
I bought a K code '63.5 Failane 500 Sport Coupe, 4-speed. Was one of the fastest and best cars ever made back in the day. Put 125K on it before I sold it. No maintenance issues. Would run 13.50's in 1/4. 3:89's.
Danny Parker 64 is nice but the best looking Fairlane IMO is the 67.
f4udhorn my friend had a 65 fastback mustang with the 289 hipo,he beat a camaro with a 327.the guy followed him home to see what the mustang had in it. he sold the camaro, bought a 69 mustang with a 351 Windsor. he was a Ford guy from then on. true story,RIP Roy!!!!!
@@f4udhorn - My all-time favorite Fairlane - the '63 Sports Coupe! Bought my wife one back in the day. Original 260 with 2-speed auto. Ran fine, but she wanted more, so in went a 4-bbl 351W, stock. Ran REALLY well after that. Should have kept that one!
Looks to be a well built car and the driver knows how to launch.
good chassis set-up. Awesome launch.
LOVE the Fairlane! Just big inch, fuel, and squeeze. LOVE IT!
No replacement for? Yeah, you fill in the blank. Blue Oval!
Wow. That car means business. Love it runs hard and consistent.
he's got it dialed in like a bracket car!
Love MOPAR but this FORD is awesome
Sounds just a bit better than perfect . .
My buddy Lesters car! Great guy!
BLACKLACDTS where is he from ?
that thing is cranking for all motor
I'm a Chevy guy, but a racer and a fan! She's a beaut!! Leaves hard and strait as an arrow... AND RIDES!!!👊🏾👌🏾👍🏾✌🏾❤
Same. That is one of my favorite Fords. lol
I love these cars. No computers and fuel injection systems, just raw energy from a big block Ford; TRADITION, that’s what I love!
When I was a kid in the 60s...the Ford Thunderbolt was basically the only car that could beat the Chrysler Hemis at the strip.
Always LOVED the shorter wheelbase '64-'65 Fairlanes vs. . . . The '66-'67 LAND YAGHT Fairlanes
nice straight wheelie
That's Bob Glidden Buzzing there.
man that thing really gets...going now...wow...would love to see it finish a 1/4...7 sumpin I bet
Ive always loved the thunderbolt. Even though there are few left in the world, i love that people have been keeping the legacy alive
bad ass ford....oh yea
I always smash the thumbs-up button because your videos are great! bad ass car too, all motor tank is flying
everyones waiting for the hood to fly off as the driver keeps it pegged and does not look back LOL what an awesome setup!
Brake light Warranty these cars are actually pretty light.
That bark after the mini burnout. Awesome
That is an impressive car , damn , 138 mph in the 1/8th on the motor , HOLY SHIT !
Big block Ford power
love that ford power.
Old school muscle cars. The best. Built with pride. 💪🏼🇺🇸
Damn this baby gets the adrenaline flowing! Ford power!
that little fairlane has some get up and go.
They have that car set up great! Hooks up perfectly.
That last hook at night was epic
Bad Ass old ford right there!
That’s one badass FEARSOME FORD !
No replacement for displacement.
Yep, All Turbos, Superchargers, and nitrous are, are different ways of achieving displacement. Getting more air into a motor that can't suck it in on its own.
@@SealofPerfection displacement is volume of bore and stroke of all cylinders lol not CFM of the top end ( not that it doesn't matter) the phraseology exists as a baseline of combustion size in having that much more burning potential. It's the fundamental truth. 10 years ago sport compactors would reply with "technology". L o L. they didn't get it.. they just thought it was a macho thing to say when it's fundamental mechanical engineering / internal combustion science.
@@SealofPerfection No Power Adder has anything to do with increasing the displacement of a Engine, they just force air into the Engine.
@@DS-mo6md Exactly what you said.
#noreplacementfordisplacement #thanktheLordforthebigblockFord #FoMoCo
The Fairlane spanked every LS there
A friend had a ‘64 Fairlane sport coupe. 289 4 speed. Black with red interior. Fun little car.
bad ass all around!
Love ❤️ That Beautiful FAIRLANE 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Sounds like a pro stock, and oh so consistent!
Almost everyone backs off when this guy gets going!
Nothing better than the Old skool cars BEATING the Modern cars . . . 💘 it
👍👍...2 thumbs up! One of the best tracking cars I've ever seen....Straight & true.....No unnecessary theatrics....Well done!
That Fairlane really couples to the asphalt. Grandpa would be grinning now.
Got to love them Fords boy nothing like it!!
Excellent suspension work. . . . . MINIMAL lift & 👌 Perfect squat . . . NO WHEELIE-(CHEATER)-Bars . . . . . Absolute PERFECTION in ALL areas. . . Best I've seen actually in a long time. . . My high school Auto shop teacher always said to much front lift was the enemy in your E.T.
Damn nice car .
ABSOLUTE BEAST !
g'damn that car just plain hooks, no slop no lag no hop just shittn and gittn go FoMoCo
You can already tell which car is going to win just by looking at the stance of how the car is sitting. That front raises up just right on take off with the weight shifting to the back. Who ever done the work on chassis and suspension did a nice job. They really did their homework the right way. Also putting the most expensive parts into the engine is not always the anwser but what certain parts you use to compliment the other parts. Like the right size of cam with how big of lift and duration along with the right intake manifold and size of carburetor. There is more to drag racing then just sticking a bad ass motor into a car. Also size of tire matters do to what gear ratio you are running. Air pressure also makes a difference. The stance of the car also matters which means getting a good launch off the line. Strength of the car is also important having good motor mounts, subframe connectors, driveshaft safety loop, scatter shield for your transmission, also how you run your wiring and fuel lines which means you want your car to be strong and safe.
To the smegbahelix: This is what I'm talking about, Ford power. The street outlaws cannot compete with a car like this. What I mean is stock body car, running all motor with no add ons.
outlaw pin heads just dont get it. They don't know a street car from a pro mod.
BADASS FORD. DON'T TRY TO REV A CHEVY LIKE THAT.
I don't no why but this video got me emotional, lol. I have a 1965 ford fairlane.
Very nice launch
nhra chart said the 5.00 pass would compute at 7.91 at 172 mph. that's getting with the system. I owned one of these beauties when I lived in texas in the 80's and the title said 3000 lbs gvw,it had a 289 4 speed.
300ultramag1 that's true Fords in the sixties had one great advantage, they were light compared with the competition. I had a 64 1/2 Mustang(Falcon chassis)289 4bbl 4-speed that would waste anything under 400ci. One of the main reasons was it only weighed 2600lbs.
I was really looking for a 4.999 ET, but that thing is super consistent between 5.00 and 5.10. Great runs!
Thank you!
Thing is wicked and beautiful !!!
Man my kind of kick ass ford just wish it was mine man nice ride
He untied the bowtie
Nice machine well setup!!!
Damn nice car wish I had one of those type of cars
Bad ass little Ford; first on race day...
Nice ride.
OOOH YEAH !👍😁
That digs quick moving!!!!
Beautiful and badass!!!!!
Gotta love that ford power killer car gorgeous
Daaaaang that's a badass Fairlane
Good god! That thing is a beast!
That's the way you do it!
perfect traction , perfect engineering , N/A with five seconds WTF !!! . must be more than 2500 horsepower
its 1/8th mile racing
cem yalcin not 1/4 mile, dummy !
Leopoldo Chatz Mata hey man,it's an honest mistake a lot of guys make, give him a break!!!
Ran the brackets at Bakersfield 40 years ago with a FE powered Ron Attebury Backmoter Dragster. Never better racing anywhere.
Bravo Fairlane
I'm a Chevy man! But that one Bad Ass ford Fairlane in anyone's Books.
