No dumbass they passed the bill allowing it to be reinstated. You’d know if the the draft was happening.
The amount of AWOL and straight up "nope" would be too prevalent.
A draft would be a national war unto itself, but should the draft be reinstated, once done there can be no backdown as optically the world would be watching for no country could ever afford to have the majority of the people refusing to fight.
@@thebastardgift That is why the USA won't implement a draft as they know it will be contested and highly protested so there is no point to it.

Ok if there was a draft then all you have to do is refuse and when arrested say NOT guilty and demand a trial by jury. With jury nullification which is legal, no one would do any jail time. Another thing is that you can make it clear that if forced into the military, you would turn your weapons on your CO which a few people did or organize and turn against the government which is what Malcolm X did.
That is what was happening towards the end of the draft in the USA, mainly during President Nixon's first term, 1969-73. However, at that time roughly 65% of men ages 18-70 (jury age) had served in the military and thus women in that age group were heavily sisters and wives of veterans. So getting a not guilty vote was impossible, there were none. However, roughly 15% of the trials ended in hung juries (mistrial) so those men walked free. Plus with roughly 12,000 refusing to go, the DOJ could only handle roughly 400 cases so most were let go.
Yeah if we're at War nobody's going to care. All bets are off if China and Russia start dropping bombs in your neighborhood. There's not going to be a court to go to. If you think it's not going to happen just pay attention to the news. Things are getting bad out there and you're not going to be able to rely solely on men and women that are willing to volunteer to be soldiers. This isn't just for young people either during the second world war professors were drafted. Right now I think the cutoff is 36 but if we're at War I'm sure that'll change real quick.
females can be the juries lol
@@user-gt5me3nf6b If there is a draft then females would be drafted as well. Besides with jury nullification you just need one juror to hang the jury. And you cannot fill every jury with all women or all elderly.

Aye man. Congrats and definitely do the channel. People need to see our stories. I’ll keep mine coming and hopefully they can inspire. Good luck bro. 🙌🏽
The elephant in the room is that the draft in both world wars went up to FOURTY FIVE years old. Given we would be facing off against a country with about 4x our population and an ability to draft whoever they hell they wanted from their population, I think it's safe to say the draft age would have to be higher than would be the case against relatively puny powers like Korea or Vietnam.
Actually, during WW1 the draft age was 21-31, so that was roughly 10 million men, a little less than half were either called up or enlisted. It was just that the war ended roughly 19 months after the USA entered it that the age did not have to be increased. During WW2 it was 18-45, giving a pool of roughly 33 million and the USA's involvement in that war was nearly 4 years, a little of 15 million were either called up or enlisted. Today's enlistment pool is roughly 130 million, ages 18-45, it is larger since women are now considered combat available, unlike in the past. So even 8% of that pool would be over 10 million, way over what is needed in today's war, if not that the massive protests (lack of interest or desire) would cause the USA to seek terms of peace as we did 50+ years ago in Vietnam. Yes, during the Cold War era draft, 1947-73, the draft age was 18-25, but neither Korea nor Vietnam were all out wars.
Yep. And nobody talks about the reality that they can just... You know.... Change the rules.
I could see them drafting any unmarried man and woman under 50 if they draw their number.
I, personally, will not fight. If my option is jail, I will take jail.
I am a veteran, though anyway. Hopefully they don't say I am more draftable.
My last resort, I won't say, but I won't fight for the USA.
@@buckaroobonzai2909 The enlistment pool is roughly 135 million. So if 4% enlist, that would give a force of slightly more than 5 million, enough to fight wars today. If only 2 million enlist, that represents only 1.5% of the enlistment pool and thus with that small an interest in the war, a draft would fail, if there is that little interest in the war then the draft would not realistically be enforceable.
I too believe they will increase the draft age but it is a mistake to ever consider a possible enemy "puny". Consider Afganastan yet deemed, "The graveyard of empires."

@@fkauthority Exactly. The men forcing me to leave my family to die 8,000 miles away is a far greater threat than the men on the other side of the world.
They should bring it back
Why do you want it to come back? Being drafted definitely isn't a good thing because if were drafted that means we'd be forced to fight in a war and we'd have a higher chance of being killed. We shouldn't be forced to fight in a war if we're not in the military. It's against the constitution for a draft and it's against our freedom. They can't just force someone into the military. The president can't just authorize a draft either. It would have to go through the Senate and the House. If the Senate rejected it then it wouldn't even go to the House. So it would definitely take a lot for a draft to actually happen.
I’d sooner bite a 💊 then fight for the old geezers in Washington
Did you ever notice how few of those 'geezers' didn't serve, themselves or most of their male children?
No draft. IMPRESSMENT. There is a distinction. ❤
Also in previous wars especially Vietnam only a small percentage of draft evaders or people refusing to be drafted were convicted and given prison sentences and usually those sentences weren't even that long. Your chances of being convicted jury nullification regardless would be next to nil. Do not submit to the government.

It's not impossible... But if the US military wants another repeat the Vietnam war and lose more of their talented soldiers to fragging, it would be in their best interest to never reinstate the draft. No draftee is willing to die for an overzealous officer trying to seek glory and make a name for themselves. If an officer is going to send hundreds to an area that they know is a death zone, that officer is sure to get a grenade thrown into their sleeping quarters
Protests were only a contributing factor to the change, though fragging was a major reason why the US military had to change. Getting killed by their own soldiers and the fact that said soldiers also used the threat of killing their commanding officer to coerce them for favors is the reason the US military resorted to a full volunteering force.

They have already decided, that if they do need to reinstate the draft, everyone would be sighed up automatically both male and female. They have decided that the draft will be 50/50, 50% male and 50% female. You won't need to register yourself on your 18th birthday like they did before. This seems much more fare to me, everyone would be involved like it or not.

Well,I already did my time and now I'm to old and not medically fit so I ain't worried.
The military draft will be reinstated and young people will go.
Force is always used I know, so you are probably right. But this is a new socially indoctrinated breed of Americans also. Can you imagine their taught social civil war tactics in a barracks? I think they may "group up" against the drill Sargent's, (for example). I don't want to see a draft, because it also means we live under a dictatorship. But if it happens, I would be interested in seeing how close I am.
Over half won't go and there is very little that can be done.
People who have cancer or heart problems are exempt from the draft.
That is true as well as those who are Type I diabetic. However, anyone who claims to have a disability and needs accommodations is on psychotropic medication for things such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, or states that he/she won't comply or risk his/her life is not allowed to enlist, thus exempted. Guess why there is zero talk about a draft since 9/11.
Hmmm. Well, I guess,-----those people are just lucky?
But, we may be surprised, (should already be), at what a "stroke of a pen" can change.
@@EarthSurferUSA They can change military standards easily, but with the implementation of the Federal Civil Rights Law, known as the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) in 1990, anyone can claim a disability when attempting enlistment into the military and put the military in a bind. It is just that ADA took effect after conscription ended so those who want to enlist, won't claim a disability.
Today, the decision to reinstate the military draft, probably does not have to go through the old channels.
An executive order is turning out to be replacing the old channels.
Lol at the comments. "Im ready for war! Can you tell me how to enlist in the Air Guard, non deployable, preferably in supply?"
Once you enlist you become the property of the DoD, thus even if you are in the Air National Guard, they can reassign you at a moment's notice to front-line infantry, they did that a lot during the War on Terror. You are thinking about President George W Bush, who enlisted in the Texas Air National Guard to avoid deployment to Vietnam. But, keep in mind at that time there was an active draft so the "National Guards, which were by appointment (connections) stayed state-side. However, that was then, today it is different as it is highly improbable that the USA can impose a draft.
@@janefelix3821 Ummm...no. no one from the air guard has ever been sent to an infantry unit. Ever.
Cool i scored a medical discharge from the army so i would geuss i would get a pass from the draft.
Bottom line if you don't want to have to deal with the responsibilities of being an American citizen then you can give up your citizenship and leave, there are many people in the world who will gladly fight in a war if it meant becoming an American.

That’s the part I don’t understand. If anyone knows that information please share.
@@Jodywithawhy Also, if I switched from a combat mos to a non-combat mos, would they reel me back into the combat one? (is that or was that ever a thing?)
@@dudeskidude8376 All enlistees are obliged to combat MOS at the military's sole discretion if the need arises. So even if you switch to a non-combat MOS, if the need arises you can be forced back, read the enlistment papers carefully.
Depends on what laws Congress passes when they enact conscription. In the past, most draftees were for infantry or a similar combat unit. However, that was over 50 years ago so I seriously doubt you can force anyone into a combat situation today.
I was just talking to my son who's a soldier and his wife just enlisted and he said it's better to join voluntarily because then you can pick your MOS which means job, and you can build a relationship with your unit. You can also be trained. Let's face it if there's a draft that means we're in deep trouble and you'll probably be pushed through basic and serving with a bunch of strangers.
Actually it goes from 18-35 with a few caveats: you serve eight years so if you were a good boy then you are off the hook from 26.
Also if you join the military and don’t sign up for the draft, you just did. It’s in the paperwork.
There is no current draft in the USA, so any age would be a pure guess. it was 21-31 for WW1, 18-40 for WW2, and 18-25 for the Cold War Era, Korea, and Vietnam being the two major conflicts during this time. So who can guess the future? As to enlisting, then you are in so no need for a draft.
Hey Jody, do you have any knowledge on the navy waiver system with a felony dropped down to a class one misdemeanor for a first offense?
If it’s similar to the Air Force, it would depend on the severity of the offense, the recency and how willing you were to meet their needs (ex. Take any job you can to join). It would also depend on if you can find a recruiter willing to work with you. That’ll be my best advice.
they give billions to other countries, yet no pay raise for military. . . old veteran!
Neighborhood drug dealers will be making bank as desperate parents refusing to let their children get drafted to fight another faraway war will seek out their services in the hopes of making their kids be ineligible for military service! 🤣🤣🤣
Well if you are drafted you do have to respond. Doesn't always mean you will be tossed to the front lines. They will put you where they need you. If they need you in communications they will put you there and so on. If you don't respond it is a felony offense, I don't remember what the timeframe of jail time is. If you leave the country to avoid it you are never allowed back into the country, my dad had friends who went up to Canada to avoid the draft during Vietnam, they completely regrest it but cannot come back for anything. Not even a funeral.
Besides a draft is a very very last desperate resort for if their is an immediate threat of an invasion from an enemy. That is one of the reasons President Lincoln had so many drafts enacted because the enemy was right next door and were "coming across the border" so to speak so he had to keep the military numbers up for defense. It will be the same scenario for a draft to be enacted.
If you remember, President Carter, on his first day in office, January 21, 1977, granted a global pardon/amnesty to the roughly 35,000 who left the USA to avoid the draft during Vietnam. Many of them did return and lived their lives in the USA. Also, the draft is not only used as a last resort for an invasion as did either North Korea or North Vietnam invade the USA or pose a threat of invasion? Yet the USA drafted for those conflicts. The draft is used for whatever Congress says it's used for. It is just very hard today to impose one as laws and standards in the military have changed, especially with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) so it may be very very difficult to force anyone to enlist.

If there's ever a "Draft"again, Congress better remember that 18-21 yr. olds can now vote (unlike in the 60's) & they
will overwhelmingly vote out anyone who promotes "conscription"! Plus, if a 'Draft' is suggested, it better include
women, because the young men of today, consider women to be equal in all things, including serving their country!
p.s. I served six years 1963-69, in the NY Army National Guard!
Congress knows that and that is why they won't be a draft. Plus current military policies do not accept anyone who asks for a disability accommodation, per the Americans with Disability Act.

@@Jodywithawhy Could low recruitment numbers lead to it?
Low recruitment numbers by themselves wouldn’t trigger a draft. But if a significant war were to happen, along with low recruitment, that increases the possibility. At that point everyone should wanna fight for their country, or they’ll lose their country.

It could but not an absolute. Between the two searches you might be able to find an answer.
@@thebastardgift Actually claiming to need accommodations for a disability under the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) is an automatic disqualification from enlisting, keep in mind mental conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, and depression, are included as a disability. Actually back in 1994, shortly after ADA was implemented they had hearings about the draft and how ADA would effect it and they felt that with ADA a draft would collapse as anybody who did not want to enlist would claim a disability and ask for accommodations.

And we can send every male member of our families to Europe. And I will finance the move! Vietnam Vet USN joined at 17, 7/71. Father of a Combat Infantry Marine,Iraq and Afghanistan. Of course we’d defend our Country on our own soil, other than that your on your own!
It is against the law to discriminate based on sex (gender). Why should women get a free pass?
Unless your drafting everybody, regardless of race, gender color or creed, I ain’t going
Even then, I still ain't going.
Draft is regardless of race, religion, and will include women this time, that was voted on in 2015. So yes, it’s equal all the way around. We voted for this, Biden has been known for decades to support wars, so the times here. I’m not clear why people are not signing up in droves, this is what we all wanted and knew would he pushed when supporting Biden
@yvonnepedersen7031 Not everyone supports Biden though. Libertarians don't, Republicans don't. Only democrats. Only democrats want that nonsense.
Better yet send congress. I'm not going
Call up the military draft now!
Every dictatorship has to do it.
They better ask George Lucas for a clone army cuz I ain't going 😅 the first mf state agent that come up to me tryna draft me you gone get yo WHOLE ass taken try me
They better get their asses to Kamino.
They can't draft you if you're already in.
🗣️
They can't draft you if you're in, that's right however let's say if a military member decides to separate or retire, and the recruitment numbers is low they can Stop-Loss military members..basically the military can make you stay longer.
@@princejazz, yes they can, they have, and they will do it again.
@@thebastardgift i totally agree with the mess going on with Ukraine and China i do see a possibility. But you didn't hear that from me. I'm trying to make it to retirement next year, 20 years in the Air Force.
@@princejazz , good for you for running the distance and being so close to retirement. I agree with you Ukraine is a mess, too much of a mess to be a long-term war.
You all need to know over a million people crossed the southern border most of them are of age to enlist if they don’t won’t to do national service and protect America put them on the next bus out of town
Bottom line if you don't want to have to deal with the responsibilities of being an American citizen then you can give up your citizenship and leave, there are many people in the world who will gladly fight in a war if it meant becoming an American.
I feel that should put females as wall for draft cause did feminist fought for equal right what more equal then getting draft that sound fair to me
Are you a recruiter in san antonio?
I’m a recruiting instructor. I teach new recruiters how to do their job now. If you need help finding a recruiter I can help though.

If there is a war and it looks likely, there will be a draft they would have no choice the man power now is not there. So yes they can and will enact a draft and saying no is not an option. Leave the country or.face prison.
Prison requires a criminal trail and conviction by unanimous vote (12-0). Good luck with that and what if 50,000 refuse to show up, that would just break the back of the DOJ.

@@TheReaper-ep2cq None of the thousands of men who ducked the draft the last time lost their citizenship.
@@janefelix3821 I'm just saying if you don't want to live with the responsibilities of being an American, then don't be an American.
@@janefelix3821 No, but im just saying if you don't want to be drafted, find another country.
Well if the current defense bill gets passed then women will be added to the Selected Service System.
What bill? because there is litterally no evidence about what your stating. Yea someone made a viral video about it but there is no evidence to back it up. JEEZ PEOPLE ARE GULLABLE
Doesn't make a difference as Congress will decide on who gets drafted only when they actually implement a draft, not before. Currently, Selective Service is a data mining entity of names that can be used for recruiting purposes, but there is no way of making anyone who does not want to enlist.
I thought that happened already during the first obama administration.
@@janefelix3821 "Doesn't make a difference as Congress will decide on who gets drafted only when they actually implement a draft, not before." I have a buddy who talks like that too, thinks the constitution is still alive. Heck, it can probably be done with a simple and quick executive order, which has superseded congress many times now. Welcome to our growing dictatorship. The past was wonderful to remember though. :)
@@EarthSurferUSA The President can not sign an Executive Order for a draft as no one will follow it and there will be no way to enforce it.
I rather go to prison than serve i rather go to Russia and fight for putin a honest man right there
O its posible soon
They should bring back the draft boys are staying boys and not becoming men
Goodluck with armed boys who are ready to hurt the recruiters as if they are doing with students and being in military is same as simping and being a bootlicker for military.

In these times of equality and women's rights, why are females exempt from the draft?
Also, given that there appears to be no one in government that can determine what a woman is, how do they decide who is eligible for draft and who is not?
Women have the continous burden of birthing the next generation. So, you want women to birth and serve on the frontlines? Are you a coward? What is the man's burden? Are biological males capable of birthing children? NO! Men's burden is going to war. I don't agree with draft, but your daughters shouldn't be on the frontlines when men are nearly 40% stronger than women. Drafts are rare, but men need to be men and stop thinking women should be put on the frontlines.
IT IS COMING
I think so too.
@@thebastardgift same
@@bigdog4166, it's a scary thought that does not fade given Russia and China engaged in war exercises together.
Do yall know how was it is to reinstate a draft😂

Just passed
It’s august 2023 and the Biden Administration a already talking about the draft
No, they're not. There is an election next year. A draft would guarantee a Republican being elected. Plus a draft has to pass Congress (Republican House) and deal with a Filibuster in the Senate. Good luck.
At this point take away women rights
