The Sportsman is a great recommendation as a first SAK. I wish they would make more models with the file instead of the small blade... I don't need a file very often, but I never need a backup-backup-backup-backup blade :D
Victorinox is definitely going in this direction, with the new Companion model. It is essentially a climber with a nailfile instead of the penblade, and a package opener in the place of the can opener. It is great, check it out.
I spent a couple of hours looking at SAKs on Amazon, and in the end I chose the one that I thought was the best all rounder for EDC for me. Having ordered it, I then, potentially disastrously, looked on RUclips for reviews and recommendations. Yours was the first I checked, and I was getting more dismayed as it went on, as My choice was not mentioned or referenced. I thought I'd blundered, but then - Yay! The Compact, last one you review is the one I got. Given your obvious extreme and excellent knowledge of all things SAK, I can now sleep peacefully. Thanks for a terrific video. :-)
You said "standard opener layer", but the 93 mm Alox also have a noticably bigger and beefier bottle opener, and I really like that. And in general, Alox knives feel sturdier.
I just purchased the Sportsman a few weeks ago and also love it. I love its compactness and the file on it. I wish it came with a scissors and removed one of the smaller pry tools/openers.
I still carry an old *Wenger Traveler* for that very reason. Scissors, nail file and only 85mm in length. No longer available, sadly. You might want to look at the *Victorinox Evo 14?*
Excellent video Slippy! I have been really loving the rambler. I love the micarta scales a lot. You have got me looking at compacts. All of these are great choices.
The Alox Bantam in my pocket and the Swisscard Nailcare in my wallet replaced my Compact as my edc of choice. It’s such a good toolset that can do essentially everything the compact can do with the option of leaving the knife at home I’m going somewhere like an airport or a stadium. The Swisscard is such a slept on option and I cannot recommend it enough even as just a TSA-safe option.
Great video Slippy! The Compact is king!!! Love the 58mm range. Currently trying out the Jetsetter on my keys. But my SAK of choice at the moment is the Alox Cadet. Its lived in my pocket for a good few weeks now.
Great video! The combi tool on the Bantam Alox and Compact is a fantastic piece of kit. The Alox models in particular are VERY smart and make a fantastic gift. SAK collecting is a dangerously addictive hobby!
My compact is in the mail, arriving tomorrow IYH. As of now I mostly carry a Spartan if I want to go easy, A Huntsman a Climber or even a Soldier/Forester Grip if I want to go big. For special occasions I'll carry a Bantam alox or a cadet, both very low profile.
An excellent selection ! Nice to see the Huntsman ( the Bushcrafter's favourite from what I've seen ) in there as well. Must have been hard to decide which 10 you were going to choose though. I imagine there was much muttering going on !
These are my current favorites: 1. Minichamp carried in fifth jeans pocket. The Minichamp replaced a Rambler there because I wanted to have a pen at hand without having to mod the other SAKs to have plus scales. I don't think it's too bulky to carry there - I barely notice it 2. Tourist on a suspension clip in the left jeans pocket for indoor situations. The Tourist is a discontinued model and a small Spartan or a Sportsman with a second blade instead of the nail file. I don't need the nail file since I already carry one on the Minichamp. I want to have the opener layer, both blades and corkscrew. This is the most compact way to carry that. Scissors would be nice, but in most situations the small scissors on the Minichamp are good enough 3. Ranger in my jacket pocket when I'm walking outside. The Ranger is quite heavy, but I like how it feels in the hand. I prefer it over the Huntsman because it adds a lot of useful tools for not much more width, but it's noticeably more expensive, which I was fine with. I agree that the Huntsman is the better bang for the buck. 4. Compact in jersey pocket when out cycling. I wouldn't want to carry two SAKs on a bike and the Compact is a great compromise - it offers most functions I need, but not in the ideal way (no dedicated openers, nail file, etc.) 5. Swisschamp - not for EDC, but it lives in the pouch I carry with me in my backpack or sling bag. It's the everyday toolbox I don't think I really need any other models than this. Maybe I'll get a 111mm Picknicker for food preparation to carry along the Swisschamp in my bag (it's legal here in Austria).
The compact is absolutely my favorite SAK. Always in my pocket. I switched the cellidor scales with red aluminum scales by Swiss Bianco and it looks great. Also love the super tinker.
My favourite cellidor SAK is the Sportsman - I think that's a great recommendation for a first purchase or as a gift. Of the alox models, I'd probably go for the Pioneer-X (my most recent purchase).
A Compact has been my most carried SAK. I’ve modded mine with orange G10 scales. They’re not plus scales unfortunately but I’ve pretty much never used the Victorinox pen. I’ve barely even used the knife blade tbh either. The scissors, opening layer and toothpick are my most used tools! Great selection here though!
I’m an American, but I prefer UK legal knives 😂 medium sized slip joints being my absolute preference. I have some tactical knives just becuase but they get no pocket time. All you really need is a small blade for EDC. My pocket dump: Victorinox Minichamp on my keys, Victorinox Compact in my 5th pocket, Case Medium Stockman in a leather slip in my left back pocket.
Compact's are great and it's what I have been carrying for a month exclusively. The best 3 layer 91mm in the Yeoman that is basically a deluxe Compact. Just sold off both 2023 Winter Magic Cadet's that I had. I just don't like Cadet's and wish that knife had been a Pioneer X. Cadet's are the most over hyped SAK and they have never appealed to me but I also don't really like 84mm SAK's. I could make due with just owning a Compact and a Pioneer X or old cross Alox Electrician's pre mid 80's with brass liner or old pre 1993 Alox Soldier's and preferably 1960's Alox Soldier's in silver.
I bet on (my vote)... 91 mm pocket knives ... Deluxe Tinker, Huntsman, Climber and the Pinoneer X maybe... Where are the Explorer, Ranger, Handyman, Swiss Champ and Cybertools
I find SACs to be so annoying with their tool sets. When looking for an edc knife there are some options that are nearly perfect such as the compact except for them having an awl instead of a usable nail file. Just like how they will have multiple blades on most scissors models instead of a nail file.
No surprises or alarm with the 10 👌If you only had one then huntsman or compact serves many purposes. The waiter for £15 is good value also. Thanks mr S 🦾
The Sportsman is a great recommendation as a first SAK.

Thanks brother 🤘🏻 the compact is a personal favourite of mine 🙏🏻
My favourite is still my 1960/70’s huntsman with the little clippoint blade ❤👍👊🤙. It was my first knife given to me by my grandfather.
Awesome Will
You said "standard opener layer", but the 93 mm Alox also have a noticably bigger and beefier bottle opener, and I really like that. And in general, Alox knives feel sturdier.
Great collection my friend! Loved checking them out. Some very nice ones and you did a great job sharing them!!
Thanks for the visit
The 93 mm's inline reamer is an awesome tool for random tasks - and a fantastic package opener.
Awesome thanks for watching
I just purchased the Sportsman a few weeks ago and also love it. I love its compactness and the file on it. I wish it came with a scissors and removed one of the smaller pry tools/openers.
Couldn't agree more!
I still carry an old *Wenger Traveler* for that very reason.

Great selection! I’ve been carrying the Deluxe Tinker lately and have been enjoying it. Awesome video!
Awesome thanks for watching
Loved this overview of your top 10 SAKs for EDC. Always love a Victorinox video from you. My top SAKs for EDC are the Pioneer X and the Super Tinker.
Thanks for sharing!
Good choices. The Rambler and Huntsman are my regulars
Awesome
Great line up of knives, Slippy! Thanks for sharing, and keep charging!
Thanks, will do!
Excellent video Slippy! I have been really loving the rambler. I love the micarta scales a lot. You have got me looking at compacts. All of these are great choices.
Thanks Randy
I always magnetize all of my SAK screw drivers (and even the nail cleaner tips). It makes them so much better...

Thanks for the info!
Some really great options there. Nice one, buddy!
Thanks for the visit
I’ve modded my Huntsman. Hi-vis yellow Plus scales, the 4th scale tool slot opened up as well as the 2nd pinhole.
Awesome
Great video! I really need to pick up a deluxe tinker.
You should!
Very cool group of sak. Congratulations on a fantastic display
Thanks brother

Compact is perfect, you'll love it

Awesome choices for sure
I got the wooden huntsman one of my favourites I like your selection to 👍🏼
Good choice!
Great choices. The Compact is my favourite too.
Thanks for watching

great choices- I have many of them, but my favorite not on your list is the Companion
Good choice!
Compact is my daily EDC too , thanks 🙏 🎉

That's awesome
My favorite Victorinox is the Alox Farmer
Awesome
Great top 10 but I definitely think you should have the explorer in there as it has a different tool set to the others.
Yeah I agree
What about a side draw sheath for a farmer? Any suggestions?
Honestly I haven't got a side draw sheath 😔
I love the combo tool on the Compact. Wish they’d beef it up a little and use it on other knives in place of the opener layer.
100%
Can't decide between a rambler or a deluxe tinker!!
Depends on what you need it for! Rambler for keys os perfect
Slippy, have you seen the recent YT video from Adam Savage on his channel Tested, when he is restoring a large display mockup Victorinox model? :)
I have not, I'll take a look
XLT

Welp, that’s pretty much all of them lol
😂😂

Right on
