I have watched several videos showing the process of freeze drying eggs. I have to say your video was the only one that I watched that explained in detail all the steps. Thank you for taking the time explaining the total process. We truly appreciate it!
After you seal the mylar you can cut the corners fold over and put back in freezer dryer ( with or without oxygen packet), put on vacuum mode then when done, reseal cut spot. I haven't done it but I saw a video. Waiting for delivery of my large oil-less pump.
Check and make sure your trays are level first before putting liquids in. You can do this with water first to make it less messy. I had to put shims in the back of my freeze dryer to get the trays level.
I have leveled mine with shims now too. Although how high they filled up unlevel as in this video was just perfect for each tray holding half a #10 can. So one batch filled up two cans perfectly. Now that they are level if I fill it up all the way I have some left over and the batches take longer lol. So I just don't fill the trays up quite all the way.
Also, make sure that your drain bucket is completely empty before opening the vacuum valve (when complete)! Otherwise it will suck dirty water back up into your freeze dryer!
Love it! I’d love to have a freeze dryer. Being 100% off grid however, even with a large solar/battery setup with a large propane powered generator to back up the solar to keep the batteries charged when there’s low solar, it would still take way too much power/propane to operate 😞. Hmmm, the benefits of being on grid?
The cost when finished is a couple of dollars from tests people have done. Find a good friend that is on grid and go half and half. Harvest right also has payment plans but hurry because the waiting list is long. Everything in jars can be freeze dried thus making it much lighter than a dozen box of prepped food. I am waiting for mine by freight. I will be stocking up on frozen uncooked hamburger. Freeze dry it, set it in a bowl od water, grill it. You just have to worry about a bun/bread source. You can even freeze dry steak or roast!
good stuff, will the oxygen absorber create a vacuum in your can? looks like you could use put a few pennies on your back feet of your dryer to level it. thanks for video.
There are vacuum chambers and also a way to use vacuum in unit. Some measure eggs in beaker or blender beaker to ensure tray is not over full. Can pre-freeze to lessen machine wear and tear, and time needed…..I process hard boiled eggs for dog pet food storage…I read there are most nutrients in poached or hard boiled, one can fill the instapot for FASTER hardboiled eggs for chicken keeper lovers!
Middle of each tray is spot to test for cold spots…trays have to be in dry mode to use this detection process vs infrared or moisture sensor… If it finishes when you are not there..machine goes into cold mode…. The only one I had was bags of frozen veggies….the pea pods had cold spots…could pierce them or cut in half prior to processing.

Thanks
We have one of these freeze dryers. Has been the best purchase for our preps. Bananas and asparagus running right now.
That's great. I love it too.
GREAT VIDEO, Emergency Guy.
I'd be interested in more info on that can topper thingie.
You could use an affiliate link to Harvest Right to help provide for your video production time…
Thanks
That's interesting,thanks!
Glad you liked it!

I am always very careful on that point. Also if you don't empty your bucket after each batch the hose gets moldy.
@@theemergencyprepguy Yes, I just put those comments on for other people watching who may not be aware.
@@coloradokid8321 sounds good 👍

Yes I bet they do draw a fair amount of power.

@@tammyk6708 Good points
@@tammyk6708 I freeze dry burger patties and pre made raw dog food patties….heaven at mealtime!
Sounds good.
Does the thawed water smell like eggs or what ever you've freeze dried?
Great question. The only time I have noticed it smelling like the food was when I freeze dry onions.
@@theemergencyprepguy Onions aren't too bad. Thank you.
You're welcome!
I winder if one should compost the water from plants/veggies/ fruit! Or water garden with it.
I am sure that would be good for the plants.

Yes I need to level it better. They remove the oxygen but don't really create a vacuum. Thanks for the kind words. 😊

@@learnjcbskidsterchickensga7594 great suggestions.
I chose to refrigerate in zip locs before use.
