Would it have been better to run your insulated piping to the coops on the side that gets sun all day in winter instead of the shaded side? Wouldn't you be able to utilize passive heating that way instead of working against it?

Just found your video... what's your location and also, is 3 feet deep enough to make a difference? Asking because my greenhouse is going to be about 12x24 but i don't want to go down to deep. Most videos showed the dig over 6 ft..

My chukar escaped two days ago and I’m really sad he is way too naive to get back home on his own he either died from hunger or someone caught him also it’s raining these days too so I’m just watching chukar content rn they are really fun to be around mine was always following around and biting lol I still has the scars from his bites I can’t accept his absence specially since he was the only one we had for a while

Hey good to see you! That's very cool. My family and I survived Hurricane Milton. We put all the chickens in the garage. We had preps. I think we could have done better but we were also blessed with little damage. Amazing to see so many people unprepared running around like crazy and being rude. It's still that way though supplies are starting to return.

It's great to see the pecking from the big girls in action because it helps you gauge what is normal. My littles are 10 weeks old and they have been within sight of the OG girls now for a couple weeks and then just recently I let them all free range together. They didn't do great lol. It was like "Finally, here is my chance" and they chased and bit the littles and even pulled out a few feathers.. so back behind chicken wire they went. We have been slowly trying it again and it is slowllllly getting better. I am going to keep them under strict supervision for the few times they are actually together before I remove the barriers altogether.

A lot depends on the breeds & if there is a cockel involved. My 23 wk New Hamphires (cockerel included) didn't take to 4 adult hens Orringtons. I separated them again & going to try it again this weekend. They share a 2 sided run that's made completely of wire cloth, so they can see each other for 4 weeks now. Cockeral about killed the head OR, who is 9 y/o, the other ORs are 18 months. I've been placing treats on opposite sites of the fencing, forcing them to tolerate each other to get what they want. But the cockeral makes the tension skyrocket, even after the females work it out. 🤷‍♀️

Now that you have them in there, are you giving them all the same kind of feed?

I just built a cage likes yours and love it. If i would have known the rabbits would 100% not be able to get to the wood i would have used all treated lumber so i could do a mister system on s timer for very hot days

You said the more you let the chickens out , the less food they eat. Actually, that seems incorrect. They eat quite a bit more forage they find per day than they eat commercial feed, But forage and commercial food together will add up to more total consumption per day than if birds were just allowed commercial feed and cooped up. I feed spent brewers grains

Ok so the rabbits can they chew the plastic? And also where does the feeders go if on the outside on the front will the plastic go around them no problem or would I have to add a bigger roof? I am trying to get ideas because stacking cages can only do 3 high then with the cost of the trays, it cost pretty darn close to build one like this and be able to put more cages in a 16 foot span I think I figured I can get 5 30x36

Why did you get rid of it he Hatch Time pens. What was wrong with the pens.

I noticed that the younger ones pretty much went to the Buff Orpingtons (seems to be a very chill, friendly breed, I only have the one). It really depends on personalities/breeds, and how strong the pecking order is. I used to have a mixed-breed alpha, who was the ultimate mean girl to any newbies. She has passed now, and the pecking order is almost non-existent, so I think when I introduce the next batch, it will likely be easier. Plus I have my friendly Buff Orp to help in the future. As well as their broodiness, they seem to have better mothering instincts of protecting lower ranking birds.
