The craziest thing about so-called Sypgate is that Belichick was right. He did nothing wrong, nothing against the rules. (And nothing that other teams weren't doing.) The league did send out a memo, specifying certain areas were off-limits for teams filming during games (remember this is about filming GAMES, not practices, which the Patriots NEVER DID!) Basically the areas were places that Patriots team and coaches had access to during the game in progress, so the idea behind the memo was they wanted to prevent teams from hiring people to read signals and communicate them to the team while the game was in progress. A very reasonable idea. The problem with the memo was it was inconsistent with the rule book, just something the NFL created on the fly, but it hadn't passed through the Competition Committee as such changes are supposed to before they are binding. So what it really was, was a pissing contest between the new NFL executive trying to show his toughness (backed by owners jealous of the Pats 3 Superbowls in 4 years), and Belichick. Belichick was technically in the right, but his hubris got the best of him when the league issued an outlandishly massive penalty for what was, at worst, the most minor of infractions. Filming the other team's sideline was never the issue, and it was never illegal, even after "Spygate". Once the ball was rolling on a penalty, the owners saw it as a way to take the Pats down a peg, and Goodell saw it as a way to curry-favor with the owners, so it became a big media spectacle, and they made a big show about confiscating and destroying earlier tapes, which was a superfluous spectacle. Belichick's dad donated one of the largest collections of football books in the world to the Navy's library. Belichick was at his side constantly as a child, learning football. Disregarding the subject matter of the video for a moment; does anyone else think the stage looks weird? Cowherd has the large sprawling desk that several feet higher than the guest seats. I'd be like, "WTF?" What kind of small minded insecure person builds a stage like that for his show?
As a Patriots fan I hated Mangini for a long time, but as the years have gone on I've come to learn that it was really the butthurt owners of other teams and BSPN who pushed to have this incident blown WAY out of proportion. For example, did you know that filming signals was, is and always has been legal? Spygate had zero to do with filming signals. All the Patriots did wrong was they filmed from an area of the stadium you weren't supposed to. That's it. But if you listen to the league or the sports media all you heard was that filming signals was illegal and the Patriots were cheaters because they had all the signals. Total BS.
I could never properly rank Brady on a top all-time list. He'd already be so low because the offensive system he's in is built like a ferrari, but he's been a part of a franchise who are all proven cheaters. The proof is in the pudding. We already know a good deal of what went on, and now former Patriot employees are coming out and spilling the beans... *During games, Ernie Adams sat in the coaches' box, with binoculars and notes of decoded signals, wearing a headset with a direct audio line to Belichick. Whenever Adams saw an opposing coach's signal he recognized, he'd say something like, "Watch for the Two Deep Blitz," and either that information was relayed to Brady or a play designed specifically to exploit the defense was called. A former Patriots employee who was directly involved in the taping system says "it helped our offense a lot," especially in divisional games in which there was a short amount of time between the first and second matchups, making it harder for opposing coaches to change signals.* Manning's incredible situational awareness and ability to recognize defensive formations allows him to relay to the line to "Watch the two deep blitz". Meanwhile in New England, Brady is the puppet on strings while Mr. Spyman relays the play to Belicheat who tells Brady to "Watch the two deep blitz". They are not comparable, and I didn't realize how hilariously uneducated the average fan is until I saw people saying Brady is better, or even in the same league as Manning.
this is a common misconception of spygate. you're acting like the patriots were the only team to tape signals. every team tapes signals and is allowed to tape signals, even today. (jimmie johnson said it himself at the time: the onus is on the other team to change their own signals, everybody tapes it) the reason for which the patriots were punished for was the *location* of where they taped the signals.
Omega8kilo That site was literally created by three butthurt Pats fans who couldn't stand the fact that their team compromises the integrity of football more than any other team combined, so they created a hilarious website to try to justify their own team cheating for so long. lol. Pick the mic back up, dingus.
Salty? I pulled for the Pats years back, before it became abundantly clear what they did to cause their championships to become meaningless. Belichick and Kraft should be counting their lucky stars in the fact that this is the NFL. Most other sports and associations would've instantly stripped them of all accomplishments. Olympics, and NCAA for example. Are you gonna drop another mic and then pick it back up again? I don't think you know what "drop the mic" entails.
Can somebody tell me why this is a big deal as I am a novice to NFL. But of what I understand this was the first game of the 2007 regular season it wasn't like it was a AFC Championship game or for the Super Bowl, so why is this such a big deal?
It wasn't a big deal. In fact, what the Patriots did for SpyGate was illegal for only a week. They made it illegal in the 2007 offseason. And you actually were allowed to film practices, but only from a certain area. So the Patriots filmed from a different area, and then the whole thing blew tf up as "OMG THE PATRIOTS ARE CHEEEEAAAAAATERS!!!!!" and people were saying how their Super Bowls were tainted even though the previous Super Bowls came before 2007, which was the year "SpyGate" became illegal and even in 2007 after the Patriots lost a 1st round pick, the Patriots went 16-0 and went to the Super Bowl.
Because they been cheating from day one from what two exstaff personel from the patriots who went on record with the media said. plus mangini was on the jets came from new england as def coor how would he know if they only started doing just now
They didnt just start doing it, everyone had always been able to do it, they had just recently changed the rules and the Pats misinterpreted them. They were doing it in front of everyone, they were not even trying to hide it. Also as Eric stated it doesnt really help much.

He regretted it. During spygate, media thought it was illegal to record sidelines but is not. He are allowed to record opposing sideline from skybox. Teams only allow to look at recording after the game.
@@hecivil1 Stop reaching. This has all been hashed over, over and over. You sir, are reaching.
He lying, he never talked to Bill previous about not doing it in New York. At that time they hadn’t talked in months says Eric
Mangini has a Mangina.
'Nuff said.
At the end of the day he is a 🐀
I hate the Pats, but thats called snitching
@John Arch Yeah, because no other teams were videotaping signals. Give me a break.
BELI-CHEAT
Bill rents a big warehouse in your head.
I'm no English scholar by any meansand I had to use spellcheck twice already.Mangina says "If it came to our stadium" Hearing the if made the whole spygate BS which Bleacher Report made two articles about it saying other or what they reported was every team has done it but it was no big deal because it's about where you're located doing the video taping which you are allowed to do and you can check it out yourself.Getting back to what I was saying...When a loved one dies and it's a wife that the police have this tell by the word they use to really help them is if the husband says comments using past tense or present.I know I butchered that so forgive me.With him saying "IF" to me implies prior knowledge as to meaning he knew of this tactic before.......and it's shady they destroy evidence asap. When you're on top and dominating, everyone comes for you and I find it ironic that Jordan took some time off "ON HIS OWN"?!?! Not buying it.
Ohhh so when you were on the side of the people doing it, it didn’t hold much weight. But when you were on the other side you felt differently lol
Disregarding the subject matter of the video for a moment; does anyone else think the stage looks weird? Cowherd has the large sprawling desk that several feet higher than the guest seats. I'd be like, "WTF?" What kind of small minded insecure person builds a stage like that for his show?
Keep in mind The Herd is a radio talk show, not a TV talk show. That can explain why the stage design is unusual.
Watch his interview with Bill Burr. He brings it up
Becuz Colin needs to feel superior to his guests to effectively do his job
they were stealing signals during games
Fredo Mangini.
Eric and Bill are friends......no one knows
You should go to ShepherdSurvives website if you'd like to make it better guys.
Snitchhhh nobody likes that
tell "the truthiest" that ha!
He was right. They cheated. Is cheating not breaking thr rules???
Mangini is a snitch. All teams try to get a competitive edge. If you don't know that or think only one team does it then you don't know the game.
Total BS.
🐀
lol
A former Patriots employee who was directly involved in the taping system says "it helped our offense a lot," especially in divisional games in which there was a short amount of time between the first and second matchups, making it harder for opposing coaches to change signals.*
Manning's incredible situational awareness and ability to recognize defensive formations allows him to relay to the line to "Watch the two deep blitz".
Meanwhile in New England, Brady is the puppet on strings while Mr. Spyman relays the play to Belicheat who tells Brady to "Watch the two deep blitz".
They are not comparable, and I didn't realize how hilariously uneducated the average fan is until I saw people saying Brady is better, or even in the same league as Manning.
clearly u never watched football a day in ur life
or played it for that matter u don't know wat u talking about
this is a common misconception of spygate. you're acting like the patriots were the only team to tape signals. every team tapes signals and is allowed to tape signals, even today.
SNITCH
Smh Mangini caused all this, and it wasn’t even that serious if y’all would look into it.
I am a Jets Fan but i think Tom Brady is the smartest QB when you know your deficiencies you figure them out and cheat. if you are a pretty boy like Tom Brady then you get free passes like the tuck rule all the rules get bent . even bring your own game ball to the game a rule change for TB and peytong manning.
I know I’m a year late but I don’t care, your team literally did the exact same thing to patriots and received no punishment whatsoever
Yes! We video tape everything--signals, opposing teams' practices!
You should be *fired* and never eligible to have another job in the nfl.
If it was happening, he was alright with it as long as he was with the Patriots. Word is all the teams did the same thing. It was a grey area.
