    Both sounds good. The Triumph more mature, the RE like an angry teenager. As a Triumph owner I must of course vote for the T 🇬🇧

    Had an air cooled 865 Bonnie for over 10 years & currently have an Interceptor just the same as in the video. Both are great bikes for scooting about country lanes. The Interceptor looks and rides much nicer than my older bike, but I'm sure the latest water cooled variant is better than all. The power and torque of the interceptor is quite a lot less, this only shows up on faster main roads. I do much prefer the Triumph 5 speed box to the 6 on the Interceptor, It feels like I'm forever changing gear for little change in engine speed. I also like the idea of no water cooling rad & pipework on the RE. The Interceptor is better value if just used a weekend plaything, but the T100 is better if money no object.

      I have an interceptor, interesting to hear your take on the 865, I watched Freddie Dobbs video on his comparison and thought maybe I had made a mistake buying it. I tried a T120 but I don’t need that power or torque. I also like the fact that the interceptor is air cooled.

    At least in the video, the Interceptor sounds more 'raw' and engaging, the T100 more 'fine' and 'having more class' for a lack of a better description. Did you also have a look at the 900 Scrambler?

    Love the T100 low rumble. Also, as I think nobody's mentioning it, RE 650, even though more than 10kg lighter than T100 actually feels heavier. It's got higher ground clearance and the centre of gravity is noticeable higher. It's also higher and has shorter wheelbase, making it look less appealing to me at least.

    The extra 250 cc engine in the Bonnie gives it a much more "Basso Profundo" voice to be sure. The RE has a more raw boned sound. Really can't compare these two bikes. The Triumph is more polished and will be a bike that you can grow with. It is, also, 30% more expensive. As far as riding the Interceptor is concerned, sometimes it is more fun to wring out the throttle on a smaller displacement bike and ride it like you stole it. The Triumph will be much calmer and relaxed to ride, but would suit you well on higher speed country roads and/or long distances. Now, Geshmaal made a good point about the crank timing. Many of the newer Parallel Twin bikes are, now, tuned at 270 degrees to give them a more V-Twin sound. I believe that the only Brit style bike currently being built with the classic 360 degree crank, thus giving a nicer British Twin sound, is the Kawasaki W800. You might want to go check one out before you plunk down your hard earned money.

    • @YouMotorcycle

      Why not check out a used 865 Bonneville with low mileage?

    • @get_to_the_lunchbox
      @get_to_the_lunchbox  Год назад +3

      Yeah, in the UK the most expensive Interceptor vs. the cheapest T100 is about 2/3 of the price. Personally think the T100 is worth that extra. I get what you mean about the smaller displacement bikes. I'll see if I can get hold of a W800 to try. There seem to be some on the second-hand market so maybe they discontinued it here in the UK, or perhaps they were imports.

  • @Zbroja69
    @Zbroja69 2 месяца назад

    RE is raw and down to earth, just like the streets it was ridden in. T100 is more posh and quiet, again just like the posh streets it was ridden in.

  • @Geshmaal
    @Geshmaal Год назад +3

    Bike availability might be a limiting factor but it would be cool to compare a Kawasaki W800 or Bonneville 865 for a 360 degree crank and Kawasaki Z650RS or Honda CL500 for a 180 degree crank example. People seem to overlook any "traditional" parallel twins now but I really think they all have their own merits.
    Really interesting to hear these bikes with the same setup though, you you pointed out the Enfield needs more throttle to do the same speed as the Triumph, it's tricking you into making it sound better!

    • @get_to_the_lunchbox
      @get_to_the_lunchbox  Год назад +1

      There's a lot of factors as to how a sound can come across, from youtube compression to the helmet you are wearing. However this is pretty much how I remember it, if anything the T100 comes across as a lot more subdued in the video than in real life. In terms of differences to me the Triumph came across as being a lot more refined, easier to ride confidently and worth the extra cost. To be honest I wasn't concentrating on vibrations, it's more about my visceral feelings.

    The Triumph's colour and handlebar setup looks superior. Sounds wise - both are hopeless with stock exhaust and REQUIRE a good after-market upgrade. It's more affordable to upgrade the Interceptor then the Triumph. For the price of stock Triumph, you can get a fully customized to your preferences Interceptor. But if the money is not an issue, then.... Which are you more inclined towards?

    • @get_to_the_lunchbox
      @get_to_the_lunchbox  Год назад +1

      To me the T100 comes across as a more refined bike, I felt very confident on it. I think they both sound great and personally feel they don't need after-market exhausts other than to change aesthetics. Hands down, if money is no object then the Triumph is the better bike in my opinon. With the T100, I feel I would have to mod very little. Clean the rear end up with a tail tidy, perhaps new indicators and shorter front mudguard. That's really about it. The interceptor would require a bit more work for my tastes.

      @@get_to_the_lunchbox TEC from Uk have very good reasonably price after exhaust for these Triumphs , a good decent aftermarket exhaust will always cost you at around £400 but for me the Triumph already has a decent sound stock, its just difficult to record it on video, in real life is good enough. That kind of money will always be wiser to spend them first on crash bars and save some for future suspension upgrades.

    • @get_to_the_lunchbox
      @get_to_the_lunchbox  Год назад

      The Int definitely spits and burbles a lot more than the T100. But I feel overall the T100 is a bit nicer, and with an aftermarket exhaust would be even better, although doesn't really need it. I think that's the thing with the T100 over the Speed Twin/Scrambler is that it's kind of a base to build on. Which is why I'd choose it over those other 2.
