Getting to know the Honda NX500 with some fun in the mud

Well, Easter weekend is upon us but the weather has not been great recently. Still I need to try out my camping equipment so decided to go for a 2 day ride with my Honda NX500. So I took it out for a ride along the Trans European Trail in Kent and Sussex and ended up wrestling in the mud and dropping it a few times. Just got a V7 Stone Ten. I've been riding for 60+ years. The Guzzi is unlike anything I have ever rode and I'm loving becoming friends with it!
Your killing the bike man! You need to shift to keep it at the correct power curve!!! Down shift man! The bike was suffering unbearably
I bought one 3 months ago. British racing green same as that one. Love it. Always someone coming up to compliment 'what a beautiful bike'. Goes well in traffic but great on the open road and through the twisties. Greetings from Australia.
t 100 🤪🤪🤪 j'attends la mienne pour fin janvier. Édition icone.
Awesome video 💯 I looked at a Bluroc Spirit 125 in the green and chrome. Stunning bike and looking at this video it's pretty fun good and can't wait to get on the road 😁
It's a fantastic bike, and i really like the colour.
RE is raw and down to earth, just like the streets it was ridden in. T100 is more posh and quiet, again just like the posh streets it was ridden in.
Thanks for the video, waiting for the next!
Is it mph or kmpgh
They do move about (sideways) due to throttle movement but I like that a lot. Guess if you’ve not come across it before it can be a bit weird.
just beautiful
In a little collection of motorcycles, I have a '23 V7 850 Special. These bikes have their place and excel at being beautiful and have a character unlike any other bike. I don't ride my v7 when I'm wanting to have a run through the leafy lanes in the late autumn. I take something else. If you have 700 miles to do in a day or, you are on the type of tour that means you will pass though heavily congested city traffic for hours on end, this bike won't be the best option. However, if you are going to an evening out and want to arrive in style, or want to have a days ride out and want to have people turn heads when you arrive at a destination, perhaps just a drinks stop or photo op' then there little else that has the same presence. Unless you understand the niche where this bike sits, and have the place to really make use of it, "Something else" will serve you better. "Ride safe!"
At least in the video, the Interceptor sounds more 'raw' and engaging, the T100 more 'fine' and 'having more class' for a lack of a better description. Did you also have a look at the 900 Scrambler?
I am in a similar position ... just 'a couple' iof years older. I did my licens 25 years ago, now plan to get a bike next year. After some training lessons the test rides will start. This is the first video of yours that I am watching, looking forward to all of your 'hunts'.
5 miles = 8kmh. Way too much.
Helpful video, thank you!
I agree with your assessment of the 650 Interceptor. The low speed handling and the twitchy loose feels like the wheel could could skid and hit the fork lock. There's none of that with that T100. Along with the orange peel paint and poor fit and finish on the RE. The only thing to like on the RE is the engine. As soon as I started my test ride on the T100 knew it was a much better bike than the Royal Infield.
Thanks
The combination of the colours with the chrome, make this bike a work of art!
Interceptor !! 🏍️😎
The other day, I had to do a turnaround on a narrow 2-track on my 22 CB500X, and the pivot on the kickstand trick worked really well! I have Barkbusters, and the Rally Raid skid plate on mine but the weight is the intimidating part. I've been thinking about selling it to get a dual sport but in my gut, I reckon I'd miss the CB500X. My bike is very similar to yours with the USD forks. I just did a 1300K trip over two days on 2 lane roads in Nova Scotia and it's fantastic ride for that type of trip.
exhaust same? i like triumph sound full bass
I put a fender extender on my bonneville front mudguard to stop the muck, dirt and water spraying all over me znx my enjine. The back mudguard looks extremely cool and classic and works perfectly. I honestly don't get the whole tail tidy thing, it makes the bike look silly imho . A fox with no tail 😮 The micky mouse wing mirrors are also excellent for rear observation. I just love the classic look and the powerful thumping 50s soundtrack 😍
I had a 650 V Strom, it wasn’t a mudder either.
I love my gold line 2022. But I hate the sound and vibrations above 4k RPM. I much préfer the engine of the T120 which I have tested Yesterday.
I realize you are shopping for a first motorcycle and so are new to the game but please pay more attention to your speed and RPM. You are doing the bike no favours by riding in 5th and 6th gears at low speeds. In time you will get the hang of it but a higher RPM will keep the bike where the engine needs to be to get you out of trouble. Free advice for what it’s worth. Of all the bikes you have on your list the NX may serve you best. It is already equipped with features that will be an additional cost. The NX will cruise at legal speed all day everyday, and assuming you are riding without a pillion passenger (and as a new rider please don’t carry a passenger) should be all you need. Make your mistakes on a bike that is lighter, dependable and more beginner friendly before deciding you need more power. It’s not so much the speed that kills as it is the uncontrollable acceleration. I’ve been riding for 58 years and this bike is one Im considering for a final ride. Good luck on your new adventure.
Definitely the T100. Hopefully buying one in near future. Been weighing up the T100, the Interceptor and the Super Meteor 650.
I'm buying the NX500 early next year. I doubt I'll use the stock tires. They're pretty crappy. I'm going to look for a real tire.
What's that high pitch noise in Bonneville t100 along with the exhaust sound?
I’m supposing it’s the transmission.
Skid plate and hand guard
Re the mic....the bike sounds great, you sound terrible/distorted. Is the Zoom H1N doing both?
Is it better than an INT650. I have both.....the 16,000km service intervals on the T100 vs the 5000km service intervals should tell you if it's better...that and the added horsepower. If you can afford a T100, buy that....otherwise buy the INT650.
Man your videos have great cinematography ! I am really impressed, I also want to see more NX500 vids, so keep this epic quality coming! You earned a sub from me!
Where did you go? Any more vids coming? Have you done any touring yet? 😊
'Trottiscliffe' is pronounced Trosley as I remember. I'm from Kent originally.
I'm assuming at this point that you got to the lunch box and stopped making videos. Stay safe my dude.
If you haven’t got good off road tyres you can’t really do a good off road review
Love the T100 low rumble. Also, as I think nobody's mentioning it, RE 650, even though more than 10kg lighter than T100 actually feels heavier. It's got higher ground clearance and the centre of gravity is noticeable higher. It's also higher and has shorter wheelbase, making it look less appealing to me at least.
O Felt the same! T100 is better, but It os expensive
I have a NC750x which I found to be a great improvement on the BMW F650s I have ridden for years. I have taken a NX500 out on a test ride during which I managed city countryside twisties and motorway speeds on a 6 mile by pass.. I loved it and am selling my other bikes to get one of these.
You're selling the NC 750x for the NX? Was leaning this way myself
I've been shopping around for my first bike as well. love the look of Moto Guzzi, but I sat on one, moved it from side-to-side, and felt the same thing you described where it feels heavy whenever it leans over a little bit. I'd like to test ride one, but that might be more of a future test ride for me for a second bike since I personally didn't feel comfortable with it.
Throttle snatcher…it’s not an on/off switch mate🤣
These bikes are so good looking…love em
I agree with you that the front end of the 2019-2023 CB500x looks nicer, more slick. Despite deposit & PCP payments being very close I went for a used 2021 as I don't really like the square boxy front of the NX. I have just added a Chigee Play that gives phone mirroring via carplay or android auto and it fits really well onto the bar above the dash display.
Thanks for the muddy and fun ride with that beauty, greetings from Venezuela👊
I imagine the wind resistance not being very good on this bike, is that correct?
hired a v7 stone last week in Mallorca. yes it had quirks, but i ended up really loving it. i ride an africa twin and a speed triple normally. im now consuming online content about guzzis....might end up getting one
It's going fast 😮
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You grabbed that front brake lever handful 😅,but the thing is it's a learning curve, keep going, you will get better in no time..ride safe✌🏻
😑😑
Nothing that a good pair of more-off-road oriented tires could solve....
