  • Jordan and I kicked off our Escalation League for Infinity this week and the first two games are at 100 and 150 points. That means you play on a 24x36" game space, so I decided I'd also make a tutorial on building a board alongside!
    Materials:
    - Hlokk Station ($30USD) store.corvusbelli.com/en/warg...
    - Tinkerturf Containers ($33USD)
    shop.tinkerhousegames.com/pro...
    - 24x48" 1/8" MDF Handy Panel ($10)
    - Dollar Store Artists boards 8x8" and 8x10"
    - Dollar Store furniture pads
    - Any grey Spray paints in a couple dark to light colours.
    - Pencils/Sharpies
    - 90* angle ruler
    - Elmer's Glue/Spray Adhesive

I mentioned it to you at Adepticon, but you're actually the reason I went over and purchased my first set of Infinity. Corvus owes you some kickback. Great video Ash. I am definitely gonna mount my poster board mount.

This was superb! Exactly the kind of content we need more of in the hobby. I love seeing the different tables in all your videos. Very excited to see how this one grows!
PS There's even more of a sneak peak at your Haqq at 10:52 - I see the much maligned Shakush is ready for action! Beatiful paintjob as usual :)

That might be the best intro to building a Infinity table I've seen yet, the fact it was on a budget was just a bonus.

This is super helpful thank you. As you always say the 3rd player is the terrain and its great to get such a thorough tutorial on how to get the most of the starter pack

You can prevent damage while ironing stuff by putting some kind of cloth or non flammable paper between the iron and the poster. It's what I did for a long time flattening out posters at a graphics shop

I have piles of fabric I could have used too. I’ll probably scrap this one as I’ve got a couple of these posters and give it a ago againS

Fun fact about that pencil and space pen meme. After initial testing, USSR cpsmonauts had to have fancy space pens designed for them too. Turns out having tiny flecks of pencil lead lift off the page in zero-g and then float around looking for people's eyeballs to land in wasn't ideal.

    • @TylerProvick

More importantly, the lead (which is graphite and always has been) is an excellent conductor, so if it got someplace bad it'd cause a short and even a fire.

Because I love the space pen story I'll add from history.nasa.gov/spacepen.html "Fisher developed his space pen with no NASA funding. The company reportedly invested about $1 million of its own funds in the effort then patented its product and cornered the market as a result.
Fisher offered the pens to NASA in 1965, but, because of the earlier controversy, the agency was hesitant in its approach. In 1967, after rigorous tests, NASA managers agreed to equip the Apollo astronauts with these pens. Media reports indicate that approximately 400 pens were purchased from Fisher at $6 per unit for Project Apollo.
The Soviet Union also purchased 100 of the Fisher pens, and 1,000 ink cartridges, in February 1969, for use on its Soyuz space flights. Previously, its cosmonauts had been using grease pencils to write in orbit."

Good stuff! I like cardboard terrain - I have a lot of Battle Systems terrain - mostly I leave the walls / roofs separate to save storage space but it's lovely stuff to use. Would be interested to see how it compares to the Tinkerturf stuff and other card terrain.

    • @BetaRayBill32

I have practically everything BS has made and one set of TinkerTurf that I haven't assembled yet. TT is made from a thicker card and so it looks like it's sturdier than BS terrain but obviously you lose the option of building it multiple ways. I think the art on TT stuff is quite good but short of BS stuff.

Fun fact, fancy space pen vs cheap pencil is a bit of a myth. The pen was developed because having the graphite dust and broken bits from using a pencil floating around was considered to be a risk to the spacecraft. 🙂

Have you used Acid House Terrain? Wondering how the Tinkerturf cardboard compairs, I've enjoyed the Acid House sci-fi set, I've kept it in foldable form though so that it can easily pack up, it's not really intended for gluing.

I quite like the easy conversational flow. I pop it on the side whilst I'm doing the washing up or building teeny tiny worlds.
