hello, it is a great tutorial! however I’m confused by what happened at 3:50 when there were suddenly so many duplicates of the scales . thank you
wow, that's strange... I guess I skipped showing the second array by mistake...
but you can add one more Array modifier to the scales, set Fit Type to Fit Curve, and add the path to the Curve windows that appear below, hope that helps!
Hey guys, I uploaded the missing part here:
ruclips.net/video/W8zbE78I3xA/видео.html
@@Shieverski what a legend, really loving this tutorial so far!
@@Shieverski understood, thank you
Appreciate it bro, thanks for watching!
This is the most interesting modeling tutorial i've watched on youtube. Please keep making more of these.
Glad you think so, thanks!
Sure, a lot more to come...
You're a genius.
Glad you think so;] thanks!
Ok I figured it out on my own. You failed to show that you deleted the two vertices of the curve -x of the 3d cursor. Made all the difference in the world. Seems like there are errors and omissions like this in almost all of the tutorials I watch on youtube. Gets your watch hours up there quicker though doesn't it. Thanks for the help brother.
Hey, thanks for watching bro, I'm glad you figured this out!
Yes, there are jump cuts in the video because I wanted to make it shorter.
In the beginning, I'm showing how to set the curve and I do not want to show the same process over and over again, but as you can hear there I'm saying - adding the curve and adjusting it as before... and I believe it is visible that the curve is scaled down already and the other half is deleted with the origin point in the beginning of the curve and at the center of the scene.
I'm not doing this to trick you, mislead you, or lose more of your time watching the video... I'm actually doing it so I can optimize the video and make it shorter for all of you, but I'm sorry if that misled some of you.
You are saying "Seems like there are errors and omissions like this in almost all of the tutorials I watch on youtube."
but I think these are just not beginner-focused videos and do not show the process step-by-step, assuming that you already have some experience and knowledge with Blender...
Be aware that there are other jump cuts like that in the these 3 videos, but I believe that once you see something you can learn it and apply it later in the video, hope that helps, and thanks for watching though!
what happened, cause I am facing lots of problems but following along too, bottom scale wont array properly, also the solidify on scale itself went broken aswell, I even followed the layer management of it,
Man this is so amazing, hope to see your next part!
Thanks man, sure coming out in a few days! ;]

Hi, I rarely comment on anything on RUclips. Still, recently I wanted to give up on Blender, specifically sculpting and modeling due to the difficulties of topology (I am a beginner and have never taken any 3d classes besides those on RUclips). I stumbled upon your video and was amazed by your work! Thank you for your in-depth tutorials. I will be sure to try them out!

Yo! the tutorial is great, but im wondering what you did at 24:29 to make the eyeris a circle? when i use shrinkwrap it warps the circle around the eye
Hey, thanks!
Just change the wrap Method of the Shrinkwrap modifier to Project
This is really awesome! I was right with you until 10:13 but when I extrude or otherwise move points they parented objects duplicate but straight down the body they don't follow the curve. I've gone back over it but can't find where I went wrong. I'll keep trying sometimes I just hit File-New-General and start from beginning. Lol Thanks again this is really awesome!
Thanks a lot, bro!
Make sure to adjust the curve path as we did in the beginning
Hey, I don't know if you are still answering questions about this tutorial, but I've been scratching my head over the array modifier , because when I add the empty cube as the object offset, it makes the other scales huge, and when I try to apply the scale after with "ctrl + a" it makes it all distorted, would you know if this issue is because of the model of scale that I've made or am I resizing the empty space wrong?
I've tried with relative offset and for some reason the scale dupes remain the same size, so I guess the problem would be with how I'm incorporating and resizing the empty space.
Thanks in advance!!
Nvm, I fixed it, it was a problem with the thickness of the solidify modifier, that was causing the distortion. After that I just ctrl + a and it resized.
Hey, try to apply the scale of the objects. also, make sure you adjust the empty size with the right mouse click not with S because that's a different thing, check that and let me know if you still need help
@@mikeock14 I see, it's nice you figured that out
🔥🔥😎👍
Around 3:00 when you select the empty in array, in my project that scale is appearing outside the box empty top and down and in different sizes. Can you help?❤😊
Hey, make sure you apply the scale and rotation of the mesh and also adjust the empty size with the right mouse click option instead of scaling it with S
Thanks bro for share
Thanks for watching bro!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Please help when I try to spin the scales or even make them one becomes bigger than the others and when I put it at stop of sphere at 3:20 I just force me to quit this and I like dragons
Hey, that's because you scaled the empty with "S"
You have to "adjust the empty size" with the right mouse click like in the video, and that's different thing, hope that helps
hi I hope that u will answer me but when I use array on the path line the object don't respect the line can you help me pls
Hey, maybe it is because you skipped some of the steps, try to replicate it following close the tutorial and let me know more about what happens if you get the same issue.
10:13 How does the path extrude into such a smooth curve? When I try it looks very jagged and straight when making those bends. Pls help!
Hey, for this, you have to use a path, but make sure you always have at least 3 vertices of the path because if you leave only 2 vertices the curve will not be smooth anymore when extruding
Awesome tutorial! When will the part 2 come out?
Hey, thanks! Two more days to finish the editing there, coming soon!
Damnnnn
Hello, can you tell me what size the curve should be at the minute 9:50
Hey, it doesn't really matter cuz you can make it as long as you need, just delete 2 of the 5 curve vertices so the curve starts from the center
😍😍😍
Hi great tutorial but how do you tapper the body tail? I cant scale the last point of the curve
Hey, thanks for watching!
What exactly do you mean - the tail is an object arrayed on another curve (not the body curve)
Did you connect it with the curve modifier like in the video?
sorry@@Shieverski Iam new to blender and I was pressing S instead ofo ALt-S to scale. Thanks!
I'm just doing something like this for work 😅. Waiting for which animation method you used (I opted for a fish-like solution that I learned from another RUclips tutorial).
Hey man, thanks for watching! Part 2 is out there, so hope it helps.
Still, I'm curious what's that fish-like solution you mentioned
great tutorial! however at around 3:00 my array doesn't do the same thing and makes a scale that's just way too big and I can't solve it... Do you have a solution?
Thank you very much!
Hey, that's because you have to "adjust the empty size" with the right mouse click menu, don't scale it down with S because that's a different thing.
@@Shieverski Thank you for your answer! It wasn't that problem in the end, but after starting again I understood that I hadn't "applied the scale" at the beginning. thank you again for responding so quickly
We want more animation tutorial...
Sure, already working on the next one!
Brother, I operated there at 5:19. I selected the merge option for my array, and I also put the array priority to the first, but my graphics just overlapped and were not merged like in the tutorial. How to solve this problem?
Hey bro, yeah I know what you mean - you just have to play with the vertices position - the ones at the end and the beginning of the mesh. You can also adjust the merge value to get the welding between these vertices right, let me know if that helped
I solved it bro, because the gap between the vertices at the end and the vertices at the beginning is a bit big, so I merged the extra nodes at the end, and then I can merge them.@@Shieverski
Nice, glad you make it! @@user-tj4yg8ly6m
WAITING for part 2
Hey, thanks for watching, part 2 is there
Do you use a drawing table or only mouse to model stuff?
Hey, I'm using both, depending on what I'm doing, cuz the mouse is more comfortable in some cases...
@@Shieverski hmm interesting. Please could you detail more in which cases one is better than the other?
From what I have researched, it seems that the pen is best for sculpting and you can use mouse for about everything else.
Therefore, for someone doing mostly stylized models, mouse only should be fine.
Yes, it's best for sculpting, and if that's your thing the tablet is a must. Even if it's a small one without a screen the difference is big.
I'm comfortable using the pen for anything, but for example, if I have to adjust all the modifiers settings on the side it's easier to do it with the mouse...
But yeah, for someone doing mostly stylized models, mouse only is ok...
How to curve the array,it is not happening, like the blocks are going straight
Hey, if you tell me what exactly is wrong, I'll help. Maybe you skip some of the settings, try to repeat it and follow all the steps
anyone else have a smooth bit and a really chunky bit after adding the simple deform modifier at 17:07
the first bit is smooth, like his, but it becomes jaggered after that (idk how to explain it)
Hey, maybe is the scale or rotation, try to apply these
hey does anyone know how to mirror edit for the scale at first?
Hey, ain't get it, but if you explain more I'll try to help, thanks
If all the scales moved along his body and also the tail wiggled it would be awesome.
True, maybe on the next one)
5:41 Why does the bottom obj move when I move it?
Hey, maybe because you move it in object mode? You need to adjust it in edit mode.
Hello, great video so far but I am struggling a bit at 2:20 whenever I try to put it into complex mode one of the pieces gets inot the corner when I edge crease leaving a semi sharp corner, I've been trying to fix it but idk what's wrong, if anyone has a idea on what might be wrong I would love to know.
Hey, can be anything... try to move some vertices or play with the settings of the modifier, or apply scale, if not just recreate it again following the steps, hope that helps!
I have the same problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@JerryManMan Hey, I didn't find an answer to this, so just adjust as much as possible until it looks the best. It doesn't have to be perfect since there will be a lot cramped together.
Hello, this tutorial was really great
I just wish you didn't cut the video anywhere
But overall it was great👌
Hey, thanks for the feedback!
Yes, I wanted to optimize the video without doing the same thing over and over, but I understand that it makes it difficult for some of you to follow, so I'll improve this in future tutorials.
Hi, Great tutorial but there is one part at 10:06 where I can't get the mouth part to turn and form the right shape do you know why.
Hey, did you adjust the curve as at the beginning - deleting two of the control points?
@@Shieverski I didn't see in the video how to adjust the curve and I did try deleting two of the nerbpaths if that's what you are talking about by control points
Yes, the curve there is already adjusted like it was done in the beginning by deleting 2 of the vertices (control points)@@spacerunner357
@@Shieverski I see, I'm not sure why the mouth part didn't loop around because for me the mouth part just went staight.
@@spacerunner357 It's dependent, can be scale or rotation not applied, or it's not added to the modifiers, can be anything, try to recreate it with another simple object and see if it's working
Teacher I have a question. I followed the modeling with your youtube, not as beautiful as you but similarly.
However, I'd like to use Monster as the boss of my indie game, but I think there are too many vertexes, so can you explain the retopology for later games?
Hey mate, I don't have experience when comes to games, so I'm not sure about this.
@@Shieverski Okay. Then can I ask you a small question? Is there a reason to use the NURB curve? Most blender instructors use the Bezier curve. What are the advantages?
@@user-rm2pj9jf8s No special reason, just the path is easier to adjust. There you have only points, but on the bezier curve you have handles that can make it harder to get a smooth path.

Thank you for this great tutorial. I am making progress, though I really notice my utter hate for curves. These things seem to hate me, I hate them.
I have an issue with the mouth around the 10:15 mark, my mouth just won't turn out curvy... Everytime I extrude the curve, it just turns straight. I thought I had adjusted the curve properly and deleted the points to one side of the world origin, but apparently I must have done something wrong... I'd be grateful for any advice you might have, I'll try to figure it out tomorrow.
Hey, thanks! When working with paths, make you you always have at least 3 points/vertices, because if at any time you are left with only 2 points, when extruding after that the path won't be curved but straight. Let me know if that was the issue.
@@Shieverski Thank you so much, that was indeed the issue and I was able to fix it! Can't wait to continue with the tutorial!
