- Credited with pioneering some of the most effective tactics for taking trophy whitetails in the Bowzone, SITKA Ambassador Jim Hole takes silence pretty seriously. "The Quiet Place" takes you into the world of big whitetail deer and complete silence.

This guy is real fun at parties.
He said quiet down, your being too loud 😂
You need more tape
Great film but i would have totally ripped a long trumpet-style fart upon stepping onto my stand during training just to grind his gears.
Stresses silence, then drives a ranger to the stand lol
The ranger drives away after and the animals think any threat is gone as long as the hunter stays quiet. If you walked in you would make a ton of steps and make a bit of noise and there would be no sound of the threat leaving.
Why not enter the stand while the ranger is running then it leaves and the deer think the threat is gone? This video didn’t make a ton of sense to me.
Michael Cheser - Natural Visions Media I can’t speak for Jim but I would imagine the answer would be it’s all about making as little noise for as short time as possible. The ranger isn’t loud enough to cover noises you would make if you climbed fast and walked the last 20 yards fast(snow crunching and possible metal clanging from the stand and steps) so you would still have to move slow anyway for them to not hear you get into the tree. The longer the ranger sits there the more time the animals have to become suspicious of the area. If you drive up stop for a few seconds and than drive away it could easily be heard but the deer hopefully think no one got off. It’s not perfect but it’s better than walking all the way in and trying to be silent for hundreds or thousands of yards.
Teleporting would be best :)
Lots of negative comments about his techniques on here but I think people are forgetting that they are hunting old mature deer that have survived 4 or more hunting seasons and they are doing it with a bow so it’s significantly harder to outsmart them than younger animals. Plus with no rifle hunters in the area they prob have had a ton of encounters with unsuccessful bow hunters which means close encounters so they may have had a lot of training to learn from. Most hunters never even see deer that old except on trail cameras so to guide people and have them be successful regularly with Bows is very impressive. Shooting an 4 or 5 year old deer from hundreds of yards away with a rifle is one thing but getting 30 yards from one and getting a shot off without them scenting, hearing, or seeing you with a bow is hard to do and even harder to guide someone else to do.
There are a lot of opinions when it comes to hunting. Some guys walk in and set up early others ride in and take forever to get in the damn tree. All I know is my way of doing it has produced results
That being said, there are always things to change and I can learn something from this guy, but I’m sure as hell not doing everything this guy does. A deer will smell you before he hears you so that’s what I tend to focus on.
Mark Dah Shark if you hammering mature bucks you can’t argue with results
I feel like this guy is one bad whitetail season away from having people locked in his basement and yelling at them to put the lotion on the skin.
Or else they’ll get the hose again
It puts the tape on its skin or else it spends the night outside again. No gear inside. I don’t know if your listening to any of this….k?
You're thinking...don't do that.
You're breathing...don't do that.
You're existing...stop that.
Hingle McCringleberry have you seen the surfing instructor scene in Forgetting Sarah Marshal?
I enjoyed this film. The man is disciplined and you can't hate him for that. Hunters pay a lot of money to hunt there, he is trying to increase their odds of success.
Damn my zipper made a noise. Not gonna see anything now...
Deer camp isn’t just about killing deer for me it’s about having a good time with friends and making memories not only in the woods but in camp as well. I’d never hunt with someone who was so serious about killing that they can’t have a good time
Richard Brigstocke exactly this dude is a deer nazi 😂😂😂
Agreed, hunting with this guy would not be enjoyable at all. Same type of dad that yells at their son for their poor t-ball performance. It's a joke
Yea I would not enjoy being in this fella’s camp. Whiskey? No! Talking? No! Snoring? No!
I bet they won’t do everything they learned here but all would take a couple things away from the trip. I’d go in a heart beat at least once
That’s why you’ll never be as successful
Biggest obstacle is the make Ego... proceeds to run a boot camp
Having a very stress filled occupation, Bowhunting is my escape, my solace. A time to reconnect with the power of nature and vanish into it and be healed. Jim is extreamly intense, but I'd love to have him in my camp. "He gets it." Awesome clip, just wish it was much longer!!!
Silly. This does not exemplify why we hunt. I would never hunt with this guy. Killjoy that takes himself way to seriously
Craig Fuqua amen.
I agree
To some, hunting is for meat. To some others, hunting is a competition. Not about who can shoot the biggest deer, but the competition is between the hunter and the deer. To some it's more than drinking a beer and blasting a buck, it's a year round competition with nature to get the food plot to grow, to get the shooting lanes just perfect, and to execute the shot when the time comes. I'm sure this guy wouldn't want to hunt with you either.
YngSimba well said! 🤙🏼
Hes running a world class high dollar operation, his job is to get you a buck in a place where one little noise can ruin your hunt and his reputation, hes doing what he should be doing
What is that deer hunters boot camp? Lol
This guy reminds me a lot of my grandpa. Super intense but out of love of the animal and the act of hunting. Awesome video!
I wonder how this guy feels when he watches Dan Infalt walk into a bucks bedding area wearing a t shirt and deep woods off and then kill the buck.
😁 😂 🤣 you forgot to add elmer fudd hat
That’s exactly what I was thinking
I hunted the Edmonton Bowzone in Jim's camp 14 years ago. Was one of my greatest whitetail hunting experiences to date. Hunting the zone is quite different than your typical fall rut hunt in the midwest. The differences must be fully understood in order for one to appreciate the attention to detail that Jim enforces. Glad to see the partnership with Sitka. As soon as I laid eyes on the NEW fanatic pack I knew Jim had something to do with it.
This video always gets me fired up, hits me right in the Jim hole.
That was incredible. Great film!
Well, I’m going to put hockey tape on all my chit
Expert hunter I’d never hunt with him though
Bennett Isley why not ?
Kyran Iwaskow feels like he takes it so seriously it looses the fun of it which is one of the biggest reason I hunt
Bennett Isley the guys who go to hunt with him are paying big bucks to succeed so he wants to make sure that they do
Proving yet again his point about 'ego'.
dlc1119 👍🏼
Cool video. I'm seeing a lot of negative comments on here criticizing his methods and dedication just because its not what they would do or not representative of what hunting means to them. That is not the point of the video at all. It's to communicate what it means to the narrator. Why criticize him if his tactics work? Are there other ways that work in other areas? Sure there are. These are his ways take it or leave it.
Kerry Martin Exactly. Bet Jim has more mature bucks on his wall than anyone who commented
@@pennyontrack yap. Mature bucks are mature for a reason. And hunting them year after year means you're a good hunter. Really good.
Another beautiful film
Ehhh...I prefer films that elevate the land and the experience...not guys like this that elevate themselves and “how tough it is to hunt here...blah blah blah”.
I was thinking the same thing. No thanks
How tough it is is the experience...
Love the film work y'all! Keep it up!
Imagine if he had to hunt with kids
He would murder them
I would hate to hunt with this guy, completely takes all the fun out of it
Sitka hunters are the surf board bros of hunting.
Jim looks like he may have swallowed a Ferris wheel recently. The program should include a workout now and then.
Ole boy is is worried about sound, but uses feathers which sound like howitzers coming towards the animal and a tube peep which is pulling on the string and making taking that bow out of tune and loud as heck. Dope.
I see you Beau!
Awesome video !
I Moose hunted with Jim many years ago, I loved it. I enjoyed his approach its similar to how I go about it. It's not for everyone though. He actually invited me back on another hunt so I must have made the cut..lol. Dudley was hillarious a very funny guy. Jim is exactly what I would want from an outfitter.
That one hunter was getting pretty fed up with his bullshit
Nice video!to each his own! Put in work get results. Just how things work. No one is perfect. Respect.
I wish I could like this EVERYTIME I watch it, I would love to sit with this man and learn.
Wow that is intense. Pretty dang crazy.
He's quiet but smells like chainsaw exhaust lol I do love the commitment.
Sweet video
hey bud ya gonna put hockey tape on the stick you cant see under them leaves? is this the Gordon ramsey of bow hunting?
This guys a little off his rocker
When you run a world renowned hunting resort, you do everything you can to see your clients have success. If hes really serious about silence then I would imagine its the most important factor to killing a deer in his area. If you havent hunted there dont comment on how serious he is. Id learn all I could from him
I’ll comment on whatever the fuck I want to dipshit it’s a RUclips video if he doesn’t like it turn the fucking comments off!!
I hunt late season and you cant be quiet enough. The silence in the woods is beyond comprehension at times.
Great video. Wish it was longer would love to hunt whitetails in Jim’s camp. He’s a little over the top, but then again I am too, when it comes to hunting whitetails with a stick and string. I don’t agree with the tape. I feel that cloth tape holds more scent than it’s worth. I do tape up my carabiner and a couple other things but definitely not everything.
With that, said to each his own. The reason why he has all of them big bucks on his wall is because his system works for him.
Guarantee the neighbor with a cornpile and a two man ladder stand kills just as many giants
I would love to have a mentor like this guy in my life.
As long as it’s legal and high character hunt how you want. Don’t disrespect others doing the same. If you primary focus is shooting the biggest buck you can as best as you can, this guy is great. If you want to go hunting and goof off at the shack with buddies, probably not for you. Both are great.
You're running a drone for footage... too loud, do it again.
It’s not that difficult to keep deer from hearing you. Unless I’m sneaking into a bucks bedroom, it’s the least of my concerns behind smell and staying hidden.
I imagine out there its priority number one just because of how dead silent it is
Is pissing off your stand cutting corners?
I took a crap 50 yards from mine came back and had a 10 point walk in on me.
Anyone know what kind of lenses where used to shoot this film?
Jim Hole is a legend. I would love to be able to hunt with him and pick up on all the little things he does differently. Awesome video guys, keep it up 🏹
Is he just using large stakes/nails instead of screw in tree pegs (4:15)? Tree pegs are expensive and I'd consider switching if anyone has any experience doing so.
This dude is the colonel Kurtz of deer hunting 💀
What is he using to attach his bow to his hip
Just realized that at 5:26 he's not using a D-loop on his string. That's neat. I've only ever heard about old school bow hunters doing that with a finger tab.
Fah Q I bet he had a failure on a d loop once and stopped using them
If I was this nuts about silence I would wear all wool clothing. The fanatic coat and pants I felt at the store had a slight crinkle to it.
Yeah he was wearing the celsius midi which is one of the pieces that doesnt have the fleece outer layer
This dude is way over the top, but hey, if that’s what he wants to do, more power to him, nothing wrong with it, Deer Hunting Boot Camp here lol 😅
Awesome film. For those of you saying “I wouldn’t hunt with him” the truth is you couldn’t hunt with him you don’t have the commitment or discipline this man has. Props to him.
I couldn't hunt with him because I wear First Lite apparel!
I’d compare my wall to his and don’t act like a dumb fuck like him!!
Or the cash. 3 year olds taste better anyway.
What belt is he using or whatever to hang bow and tree stand on?
This is the only reason I scrolled down to the comments after watching... hoping someone had asked and someone had answered.
Good luck 👍🏼
Would like to know as well.
Guys it’s 8mm oplux with 6mm purusik knot very strong stuff and very light
And I think the rope that he used on his stand to attach it is amsteal daisy chain
Anyone know the music they use for this video???
Man, I wonder what he feels about my First Lite apparel.
Matt Dove not quiet enough
Hockey tape it
@@keethpoop9797 Funny!
What is the tape do you use to reduce noise?
Whays the song at the end?
This guy is Terence fletcher from whiplash.
Not my cup of tea. But if you’re willing to put up with this guy to get a nice buck, more power to you.
Anybody know what kind of portable tree stand they're using at 1:26?
Lone wolf
Lots of comments saying he’s too intense. I disagree he’s particular about certain things. My grandpa is the same way. Do it right or don’t do it at all
Is this a lone wolf tree stand Jim’s taping up at the beginning?
Why tf are they packing in stands and hanging them every time.
Because stone cold said so.
I'd like to see this guy stalk a mule deer
Zach he wouldn’t hunt such dumb animals 😂😂
Hell He said it takes him 20 minutes to go 20 yards, he would never get close enough
I want to know if the guy at the end smoked that buck or not
That was just spliced footage lol they wouldnt be running a drone while hes hunting
Great film! But you couldn't pay me enough to hunt with that guy.
Proving yet again his point about 'ego'.
Because hes serious and can put you on huge deer?...
He preaches about ego because his ego is the most important!
Ok guy tell us how great u are
$100 says that guy was a local cop before becoming an outfitter
what kinda bow is that those cams are tiny!
Matthews
Slick
I've hunted and fished with Jim many times. I see a few negative and quirky comments here and everyone is entitle to them. I've gone hunting with many other and they're a bunch of yahoo's who 'stalk' the farm lands with a beer in hand while driving their 4x4 till they spot some deer, peel out, walk for 30 meters and shoot. Then they claim they had a tough day hunting and the embellished stories I hear them tell. That's not hunting. Jim is a purist as they'd say. If you don't know anything about him, research first then see if you can get as close as 25 yards to a deer with a bow and no blind. Nothing wrong with learning from someone. He asks me if we want to go fishing or catch fish...and he can guarantee catching fish as we watch others float by waving their fly rods like newbie traffic officers.
I’ve had white tail in 3-10 yards my first year of bow hunting... sitting on 5 gallon dove bucket from the 1980’s. Scent and self control go a long ways. But don’t get me wrong I’ve blown 10 deer out before I got stuck one
What stand is that?
First is a lone wolf, not sure about the second ine
Why does he recommend grabbing the bow as late as you can? I would think earlier would be better.
GUUUUUMMMMMPPPPPPPP!!!
WHY DID U PUT THAT WEAPON TOGETHER SO QUICKLY?!
because you told me to drill Sargent
What’s the booties he’s wearing over his boots at the 8:30 mark?
I was curious too, figured out they are Canadian Forces Mukluks. Sounds like they are great for cold, dry (ie no melting snow) conditions.
I don’t know but if Sitka has their name on them they’re probably $800!!
I have learned so much. Thank you!
This is a hunt for own's ego! Ready to test the body, but more importantly...the mind! Once self control it's achived...deer stew can be served!
I think this guys needs Robin's William's to tell him "Its not your fault".
what boots is he wearing though??
Many archer hunters, question !
How to take it to another level! There you go. For me (retired) when I hunt with most guys, I try to get them to take it too another level. They listen but don’t act, like getting in you stand a hour before legal light or go a mile, even two. Same guys help me drag my deer. Still won’t get up earlier or go deeper!!
For me weekends fun & hit the diner. During the week game on! Like two different hunts.
My drag an average of an hour and half.
He was a ninja before he became a hunter
This is so over the top. I took a jog into my tree stand last week and killed a buck 3 mins later
As if deer hunting isn’t already boring enough😂 jk but this was Ana amazing film
I respect it
Who is that guide?
Jim hole
Is this deer hunting or boot camp
I know heart surgeons that don't pretend to take their job as serious as this guy. No thanks.
What is he covering his boots with?!
Супер 👍👍👍
What kind of hockey tape does he use!?
He said he uses mole skin so you could just use that
the ranger was too loud. needs more tape😂
Love it. Each place in this world requires something different from the hunter in order to be successful. He is the Bobby fischer of whitetail.
Last year I shot a booner with a bow from Walmart wearing crocks and blue jeans drinking beers and watching the cowboys game on my phone . And y’all wanna learn from this dork ?
hahaa fucking right bud
Merica!!!!
Well written Jacob. Way to much "knows everything" in this video. I don't like that kind of attitude.
Thumbs down.
He knows what works where and when he hunts. Bitter quiet cold.
So tough he has to wear gloves 😅😅😅
I’m all about respecting the nature of a hunt and it’s conditions.. especially when being guided.... but holy hell way to take any and all joy out of bow hunting a (pretty average size at that) whitetail
Average? Dog unless you hunt in Iowa i wanna hunt wherever your hunting. and i imagine those are probably average for his farm and they just took some footage of some bucks just for the vid
@@keethpoop9797 Definitely not what I would call a giant but I hunt Illinois and Kansas! This dipshit on this video is wasting a bunch of his time doing most of this stuff! I’ve killed a ton of giant mature whitetails and never did this crazy shit he’s doing!!
