Hi guys! You just watered my mouth! I have just made my EASA PPL and I am a member of AOPA Austria. Can you give me information about making the US PPL down at your beautiful site (Fort Laudadale or Bahamas)? Greatful for reply! Ferd
In the aftermath of landing on the moon, 10 members of the launch team departed Miami in 2 a/c to Bimini. Upon our attempt to depart to Miami, there suddenly was "NOGAS" available. After some discussion, we comenderied the gas truck and filled our tanks. Then, we were told that Miami was had IFR weather....a check via he ADF receiver said other wise. Then, the part time "tower" denied our request for T/O because of weather in Miami......We departed anyway. Clearly, the airport was seeking a payback from local hotels if they could cause 10 people to need to spend the night in Bimini.
Like rural US airfields, many will have basic services. The main difference is immediate availability. Aviation fuel is shipped via barge and can be spotty at times for more out island locations. Along with normal flight planning, the prudent island hopping pilot will call in advance to plan refueling stops with an alternate fueling stop in mind in case of a local outage. Otherwise, they risk horribly inconvenient and potentially expensive delays of days waiting on a fuel barge or pumping equipment repair. Like anything else Bahamian, you will be on Island Time - which is the reason many travel there in the first place.
fliying to the bahamas, fliying to the bahamas, fliying to the bahamas..........and all the private pilot comunity How are they going to help them because of the huracan Dorian...???? or it is in just good times.....???
I have currently flown into 42 different airports throughout the Caribbean and your video is very good. Thanks for posting.
