    Interesting stuff and nice work. I agree that you only know how you are doing when you actually measure it. I suggest that you add some more instrumentation and monitor temperatures especially across the air handler. The NS18 looks interesting and something I would consider when our York 2T heat pump needs replacing - I would like to keep the air handler. One thing I don't want to do is what a neighbour recently did - spend $20k on a Mitsubishi system!

      im getting the new FS series installed on monday and its the 15k btu unit and its 5700$ taxes in ,, installed ,,, thats 5700$ for 19k btu cooling and over 16k btu heating ,,, how did it cost you 20k$ for your system ,, how big of a system do you have?

    Great video! How much did the installation cost you excluding federal incentive?

      Heat pump alone (installed) was like 8300 but minus the incentive works out to just over 4K.

    Looks like a Gree Flexx rebranded? Same as MrCool Universal / Midea Evox / GE Connected. I keep finding other brands that are the same / rebadged, looks like I can add Napoleon NS18 to the list!😀 I put a 2-3ton one in last spring, worked fine for A/C, and this is first winter heating with it. Good so far. They have the features to make it cold climate capable and efficient (EVI compressor vapor injection, which is a middle intake port to the compressor, and inverter compressor & fan variable speed). It doesn't have a scroll compressor like the fancier Mitsubishi and others, so I think the COP is not as good, but the price of the Gree is a bit less also. I put a new 410 coil in the air handler, which I had previously put in a new ECM blower motor, and it is set up with thermostat for 2 stage heating and cooling. The ECM motor will save electricity. The hi/low blower speed changes the load on the outdoor unit which then throttles back when it figures out it's on low speed. It is also hooked up to a water coil for heating to a hydronic system, and I'm working on measuring the system COP, we'll see how that looks.

      Nice set up. I’ve had to replace the unit (gree) once due to the compressor but napoleon gives a 10 year warranty so it’s good that way. I also installed an ecm blower in my old furnace so now getting better efficiency. Thanks for watching

    also check you furnace airflow. if its 2000cfm(furnace 21” wide) set your outdoor unit jumper to 60000 capacity. if its 1600(furnace 17” wide) set your outdoor unit capacity jumper to 48000(4ton)

      if you have 2 stage furnace most likely it has 2 stage blower. hope you using both stages for cooling and heating. this gree flex ge ac pro condenser will slow down if indoor fan is in low speed. this way you can get 2 stage cooling and 2 stage ho heating.

    you guys are only paying 8.9cents per KW? And I always thought Ontario's power was super expensive, well that is what I assumed considering all the complaining I kept hearing about how super high electrical costs were there. 8.9/kwh is dirt cheap, unless of course you're not adding in the transmission costs, admin costs etc etc etc.

    • @yourelectricneighbour3633
      @yourelectricneighbour3633  Год назад +1

      With the thermostat you can have it change over automatically based on price of gas vs electricity or on outside temperature. I have mine set to heat pump only mode for the most part however as with gas prices this year electricity is more affordable.
