I take a walk in NYC in the neighborhood of Willets Point, Queens. This area is home to a large industrial zone, featuring many automobile shops and junkyards. It is also infamous for its many poorly maintained streets and lack of plumbing.
From Wikipedia:
"Willets Point, also known locally as the Iron Triangle, is an industrial neighborhood within Corona, in the New York City borough of Queens. Located east of Citi Field near the Flushing River, it is known for its automobile shops and junkyards, and had a population of 10 people in 2011.
Proposals to redevelop Willets Point started after World War II, but gained full traction in 2007. New York City Council members and the few residents of the area strongly opposed the original plan, leading to several years of lawsuits. In 2011, the city began a $4 billion redevelopment project began to construct a retail shopping center, residential buildings with a combined 3,000 units, an entertainment complex, and a public school. The New York City Economic Development Corporation's plan to redevelop the area was approved in 2013, and demolition of the industrial section of Willets Point began in 2016.
The new development was originally set to open in stages between 2018 and 2032. However, the redevelopment plans were changed after a New York state court blocked the construction of the shopping center. The development was re-approved in February 2018."

The iron triangle. Made famous by Neutral Drop!
6:17 that's the place
@@JMNTN Junkman's Paradise
Kept waiting to hear Cameraman screaming "What's it got Stuntman!" and to see a car come blasting by 🤣
2:15 potholes around there are nothing to mess around with. When i was a kid all i remember was seeing auto shops, body shops, junk yards and junk yard dogs roaming around. Now i still see auto shops, body shops, junk yards and junk yard dogs roaming around. Oh......but if you happen to see a mini van driving around selling coffee, snacks and spanish foods definitely get some because theyre delicious. Pandebono and a coffee mmm yummy. Decades ago they used to drag race around there too
Love the narrated videos. Very informative. Great work.
I love the history lesson. I will never complain about potholes in my town again. You could go snorkeling in some of those potholes!
These don't seem so bad compared to my town
Some of the biggest potholes I've seen for sure!
Stuntman brought me here
Thanks for the tour.
Neutral drop!
I appreciate the neighborhood tours with narration.
What the hell is actionkid doing in Pakistan
omg ..what a shithole....actionkid your the best
he gets around.
This was where the channel neutral drop used to make videos in!
They still do!
Narrated videos are the best! Don't stop doing this!
Wow! U've got a spirit walking through out that muddy streets. Thank u so much for showing to us the other side of NYC. I never expect to see a place like this in NYC & thank u for the narration 'though it seems that u're grasping ur breath. U've got a nice modulated voice🤗
Great video! I'm sure that these kinds of districts exist in the majority of big cities: there's business which is done in small workshops, there are warehouse areas, public dumps vicinities. No reason for feeling ashamed or uncomfortable. Awesome to have a tour of such place which is so much different from a typical sightseeing locale. Awesome to be able to watch another narrated video!
Agree this area may not be glamorous but it seems it serves a vital function in NYC,
I love how you show both sides of New York.had no idea parts of ny looks like this.
Thanks for the unique view of Willis point. The area looked eerie, but it has a lot of character. Quite a few people's lively hood will be destroyed if the area is developed. Keep it this way and I am sure seeing your video, some tourist will be interested in venturing in this raw area.
You might run into Neutral Drop.
Lmfaoooooo
I came looking for this comment
Cool video and a good day for clear footage. Thanks 👍🏽
Great video real working class New York .All your videos are great and this is top three!
I remembered this place back in the 60's. Thanks for this video.
Very nice video. I love to see those not so glamorous parts of a city.
12:19 wow that's really cool Simpsons artwork of Kang & Kodos! I love your videos thank you for making them!
Beautiful video 📹 and Beautiful voice,, action kid,,, you are the best!! 😊
.,......love it when you narrate!!..THANK YOU!!!...….
Definitely this is a side of the city that TV and tourism channels doesn't have much interesting to show. Thanks for sharing! Márcio - Brazil
Wow .Interesting place . good work with the narration .
I've never seen anyone walk the Iron Triangle before, haha, that's epic! As someone who has been coming here for years and made several videos here, I really don't agree with your statement in the video that the status of it is upsetting and they need to do something about it - I love the rawness, dumpiness and authenticity that is unique to this place only (at least within nyc)
Thanks! I love the neighborhood of Willets Point as well, it's truly a unique community of people. What I mean by the government needs to do something about it is that the community should be consulted for the best direction of the neighborhood: whether it's a redevelopment of the neighborhood (which seems like a done deal from the articles I've read), or leaving it as is. Basic services such as plumbing and road maintenance should be provided since the community and property owners are paying for it through their property taxes. Many in Willets Point want the roads to be repaved, and the community shouldn't have to suffer due to the city politics of "it's not DOT, it's EDC, or vice versa" or pure neglect on the city's part due to wanting the land.
I work for the DSNY. They used to send us over there every now and then to clean up the area. I thought they had plans to rebuild. Most of the chop shops and businesses were bought out or closed. But a few remain. It's definitely a shame to see a neighborhood look like this.
That's what I as going to say. That's what I love about this channel actionkid brings you to the street you live on. Well some live...😉😉👍👊
Yeah, it's great that you can change your perspective. I can do that as well. Life is better when I can do it. It helps to not have expectations, too. Great comment.
I am totally impressed
I never heard of this neighborhood in Queens near Citi Field. Very interesting indeed. And I like it when you were talking about the history of the neighborhood. Thank you!
One of the best videos you have done, that I've watched so far. Little did I realize when I was at the NY World's Fair back in 1965, this neighborhood was less than 1/2 a mile away! Reminds me of the outskirts of Tijuana, MX. Excellent narrative and time of day add to this video!
Thank you very much!
YAAAY! the narration is back!
Just amazing!! Total lovable the red ghost (PacMan) and Kang and Kodos (from The Simpsons) graffities. Thanks a lot Mr. Action!!! (the cloudy day gives the exactly (exact say to me the translator) tone, ambientation for your words)
Thanks dude!
very interesting actionkid my kind of place. Awesome! video
So so beautiful.. 😊
Nice of you to show other side of New York. I dont know why but I enjoyed walk over this hood.
wow so interesting. really love seeing these authentic real side of NYC. for me since, all i've had an exposure for is i guess tv shows or movies. seeing real people is also so interesting.
Never saw or even heard about that area before. Look very different! Would never imagine that’s NYC. It looks like a third world city. Really surprised. Great walk as usual ☺️
This reminds me Juarez Mexico, except the weather is nicer there.
Actually Juarez has been through a intense concrete pavement program for the last 2 years. Some parts of the city look quite different now.
Don’t laugh of my Mexico :((((
@@jorgecorona6783 Good to know.
Cool video, it's bigger than I thought it looked like
*Reminds some points from São Paulo's city! Madness...*
Great non-judgemental narrative. Great work.
Thanks!
That was charming I really enjoyed it. You have the best Queens accent I ever heard, not too nasal. Just right.
Thanks
I just moved to flushing and i work in astoria I really like your flushing neighborhood videos.
Damn how long does your commute take?
Cowboy Bepop 20min driving and an hour using the subway
Interesting walk, it looked like hard going avoiding all those puddles! :)
Great video..
A wonderful narrated tour in an area where you wouldn't find any tourist !!!!! "I would cal lit: The "vehicle slum" area. Again a for me unknown area. Ruud Mulder The Netherlands
Totally different 🤗🤗
This used to be the place to go when you were building a car i been here many times with my family its basically a supersized junkyard
This was interesting, especially for the fact that you said it's a community
More places like this☺
nice, thanks
It’s a good place to get your muffler fixed quick. I used to drive a 73 Buick lesabre that had bad shocks so it would bottom out all the time wrecking the exhaust so I’d have to get it fixed at willets point for cheap
I'm hoping to go back to NYC this spring break; Willets Point is high on my visiting list! A microcosm of the once famous rough-n-tough bustle that built this city, that alone makes it more interesting to me than Madison Garden or Times Square ever will.
Visit it soon because it's about to become a construction site for affordable housing, a shopping area, as well as one of the prospective sites for NYCs MLS soccer club stadium location. Almost all of the junkyards are gone.
@@nycsneakerfreak7 I'll do my best!
Those potholes looks like portals to other worlds there sheesh
Every big city has an area like willets point!
great spot for a movie scene - a seedy movie scene
looks like a very scary neighborhood. so close to beautiful citi field.
Finally Narration!!!
I would be almost anything on that breakfast place making simple but delicious and hearty food with fast AF service.
Born and raised in nyc and never have been in that part of town
WOW!!! Thats why I love this channel!! You go were others wouldn't go to give us the real New York exspence. I love New York so much the history, the people, the architecture. I must say I never knew it was called Willets point.🤔 I know it as Iron triangle. I must say your brave to walk through. All the videos I've seen guy driving through at a high rate of speed trying to get the hell out....🤣😂🤣😂 Your the man. That area is typical New York haves and have not... Hay there's word that Trump wants to tear that community down and make Casinos and a wall. The great wall of New York....Hahaha😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Go back when the redevelopment construction starts and maybe when they finish the first phase . It will be interesting to compare.
also, it seems that as willets point is featured as the place for auto repairs in "the great gatsby" that thing were going on there before WW2
Thx for this vid, actionkid105! Awesome! But your shoes, tho...;-)
My poor shoes!
That's a hammer, a new candidate for "Best of", and never to get from a tourist information.
Great, "Kid", really great. - I agree with YOLO's statement. - A hint: Use also the street view feature of the MAP route…
More of this may not harm. - TNX
Hotels and motels for that stadium . But like you said. the locals probably wont budge at the price they may have been offered. HEY. by the way. I mentioned you on Casey Neistats channel, which was about how hard RUclipsrs work. I hope some of his viewers cam over to visit you. another awesome video. Thanks
nice video
Excellent social commentary; abusive City practice...and important feel for the neighborhood; thank you.
Be safe Man!
in another video, it is claimed that the last resident of willets point lives above that deli/restaurant
Like walking through a War zone.. Google earth didn't drive through there ether..Must smell terrible there..Thanks for the video Kid.. Very interesting..
Nada es perfecto en la vida.....!!!!!!
I hear as well there was chop shop in that location but is long gone.
There were HUNDREDS of chop shops, so many that the movie called Chop Shop was filmed here!
Those roads look just like our roads here in southern Italy
The streets look ridiculous, but Im used seeing that kind of stuff, it gets like that in Buffalo after the snow and plows are involved
Flushing is so aptly named....
Simply unbelievable. How is this even tolerated?
We used to get used car parts from there in the early 90's.
I think it is the real estate developers lobbied their ways into the City Hall, not the city government!
LOL, I remember Hunt's point in the 80's-it was the wild west back then-any different now?
Yes & no, Hunts Point is starting to get gentrified but still is more industrial
I’ve actually never been there yet.
Protect Willets Point!!!
It's just the "junk drawer" of the city!
I just love you action, I mean, do you really think this area could use a make-over or are you just funning us?
Yes, the area without a doubt needs a make-over
All Russia Like This
Russia shit I told you @M M
im from russia and yeah, we have downtowns in our cities like this stadium and when you step aside couple of miles you can find willets points everywhere (Moscow is different im talking about the rest of the country).
What a depressing location. Thanks for sharing.
*I was actually scared for you there a few times, skeeeeetchy*
It definitely looks like it but I wasn’t as concerned here as some of my other walks
Wow, did I see that there is a restaurant in there somewhere?
Yup there is!
7:40 Brand new Mercedes
12:40 "I made a WRONG TURN.." that is scary
6:12 - Junkman's Paradise
6:10 and there's the junkman
stay safe
Thank you
Bet it smells great down there eh?!
Neutral drop baby
geez its a very under developed run down looking area, I bet the council still charges rates on the buildings owners. well you may call it something different but here its called rates and goes of the value of the house. and in it there is the 3 bin garbage charges as well. green waste or organics, recyclables and general waste. That land would be worth millions? But then if its off the beaten track maybe not heheh
Narrated! We just got a free upgrade, folks. Thank you, actionkid105.
Hard to believe this is USA. I'm a Wyoming guy, for my whole life. More people in that city, or even in one burrow, has more people than my entire state.
Greetings every one. Please stay warm.

As of the end of July 2020, Alex Rodriguez and his group of investors looking to buy the New York Mets have plans to attempt to purchase the Willets point area to develop it into shops and entertainment venues surrounding the stadium
This is basically Houston off of Brittmore by Beltway 8. I guess every city has one 🤷🏾♂️
What part of NYC is this?
