Happy December! Thank you to Bee and Roberto for playing my pieces so well in today's episode - be sure to check out their full performances in the description above! And yes, the new piece (which hasn't got a real title yet) is coming out next week hopefully - I'm currently scoring and recording it as fast as I can! Let me know down in the comments below what you thought of the performances in the video :)) And once again - thank you so much for 20k subscribers and for supporting my music, it means so much to me! #TheStudioFamily
Thank you so much for all the praise and critique! I admit I had a lot of problems with the sixes and nervousness and whatnot but it just means I've got more to practice! Moon was the piece that really pushed me into doing percussion in college and I hope you keep writing more because I really can't get enough!
Hey you still did an awesome job man! Not easy playing it that powerfully and you did a great service to representing the intent of my piece! I really appreciate it so much :))
RC me emocione mucho con tu interpretacion pero aún mas con la emoción de el al verte interpretar su pieza. Sobrino no cabe duda eres grande, muchas felicidades
Saw the thumbnail and couldn’t help but be reminded of our percussion professor using “That was very accurate!” as the biggest backhanded compliment if you played something in a lesson or studio class that was accurate, but not musically interesting.
Lol, i was in the room during the first performance. It was very tasty live, I remember when they announced what they were playing I was like :0 hell yea Adam Tan music!
Hey Adam! Roberto's words about your piece are beautiful, and you definitely deserve to know what he said! This is my translation of what Roberto said: "Before I begin, I'm going to speak a little bit about this piece. The piece is entitled 'Lotus'. Lotus, like many of you know, is a flower. In Asian cultures, the flower is a symbol of beauty because of its perfections, even though the birth of the flower isn't exactly what you'd call perfect. It's born in the mud, and in the end it lies floating on water, but it remains a symbol of beauty despite its beginnings. So in a sense, it's a metaphor for the whole piece, like some of the peaceful moments that reflect a peaceful life. The interesting thing about the flower is that even though it was born in the mud, when it becomes perfect it actually survives for hundreds of years. This is Lotus by Adam Tan."
I played with Bee over the summer and when he showcased this to the corps the night before this performance, it was amazing to see him performing the solo, and I’m so happy and excited for him that you showed his skill
Man the carpet in those rooms really just eat the sound up. When I competed in the collegiate marimba competition at PASIC, we actually played on a stage in one of those rooms so the instruments didn't sound so dry.
In 8th grade, none of my teachers had even started to teach me four-mallet grip. If you're already able to get through a page of a four-mallet solo, you're well on your way.
@@LuckyHamburger Thanks! But our instructor literally went over it one day in 7th grade and then normal class went on with our band director. Everyone forgot about it but me and my friend so we just went to my friends in HS pit who we knew as the 8th graders last year and seniors who are with my sister.
@@heyjuleshere7806 Ah, I understand. I'm sure you'll go over it in more detail in pit, then. I came out of my 9th grade marching season knowing all about Burton grip. Good luck in the future.
I've preformed every single one of your solos in solo and ensemble and also some district performances. I'm planning on using your brand new solo that you just put out for my college auditions for scholarships. I'll have to explain it just came out and it just made me choose that one over path, the one that I have best, just because the new solo is just so good.... can't wait to start working on it tomorrow
Hey Adam I’m learning moon right now for Solo and Ensemble and I was wondering if you had any mallet recommendations for the song? I was thinking of the Nancy Zeltsman graduated set but I would like your opinion. Thanks!
you should do a giveaway or some sort of competition where winners can submit original marimba compositions and get personal feedback from you or something like that
Haha if I can get hold of one for longer! I've played on a few and they are good sound wise, but I personally don't like the frame design (the voyager frame ends are super unstable). If it is a marimba that doesn't move around much it's pretty good!
@@AdamTanPercussion I like the frame Design and I get a Adams Alpha 5.0 at the End of december. Do you know Alexej Gerassimez? You should react to him👌

I thought you did beautifully, and I’m so glad that this was the piece you chose. It’s beautiful.
LOVE YOU BEE!

Me encanto muchisimo Roberto! BRAVO! Tú pasion con la pieza y musica en general es muy inspirante. Felicidades!!

Man he really nailed the description, that is amazing! Thank you for translating for me!!!
Oh dude, thank you so much :)
Yes Adam! Roberto was talking about the Lotus flower and how the piece reflects its meaning and importance to Asians.

😭😭😭
He can’t even see out of his right eye with his hair how is he accurate 5:10
Ahahahaha he's just that skilled!!
He can!
Ok how is the first dude so accurate, he’s pretty much using only 1 eye
I have learned both your 4.3 solos. Make some more of those. They are great and I love your writing style
I definitely will! Hope you will give my new piece a new try :))

I tried doing Path, Keep in mind I'm in 8th grade this year, and failed terribly! It was nice to at least get through the first page and a half.

You're doing great man! It's definitely not something I'd give to someone in 8th grade so that's already a great effort!!;
The first solo was so *TASTY* it made your lips dry.......jk love the vid
Hahaha facts

Thanks so much for learning Moon man!! Yes I think that set would be ok! Or any similar configuration on the warm side :)
Thank you for writing such amazing music like moon!! I’m loving it so far and I will definitely get a set of mallets with a warm sound
wow you have such good solos adam, i bought you solo "together" and im going to play it for my freshman solo and ensemble
This weekend I'll be posting my rendition of your piece Skyward, I really want to upload the best rep of it but little accidents always come haha
the mallets clicking becomes irritating in the first solo in the forte passages,
It definitely was very annoying on the performer's side too. It was the marimba frame moving around and wish I could've fixed it before I went on.😭😭
Yes I'd say it was more of the marimba frame noise than the shafts haha, shame that thing rattled so much!
you should do a giveaway or some sort of competition where winners can submit original marimba compositions and get personal feedback from you or something like that
Can you test The Adams Alpha Marimb
