- The Game Boy Family was awesome. Every kid had at least one of the accessories if they owned a Game Boy (Original, Color, Advance or any of the other spinoffs). I'll be going over the Game Boy accessories that were the best and most creative, so besides the classic ones, you'll see a few that you may have never heard of that are...a bit bizarre.

A fish-finder that plugs into the Game Boy? What the hell, Bandai?
I don't know about you but I've often thought "You know what I need? Gameboys on my feet."
No backlight because of battery drain. Can you imagine how fast that would drain those AA batteries. Wasn't practical until they came with built in rechargeable lithium Ion batteries

Basically this and size. Back in the days when those devices were new (so until 2000), there just WASN'T white LEDs, or at best, no decent ones for color backlight. The worm light has a blueish tone exactly because the 1st white LEDs were quite terrible for color reproduction (they output blue and yellow light to sum and become whte, instead of the red, green and blue necessary for a good color reproduction). Back in those days you would need to either go incandescent light (bulk, battery drain, heat and bad light tone possibly), OR like laptops did (and so did the Game Gear, Nomad and Lynx): CCFL aka fluorescent lamps. That's a lot of power and extra bulk added, as you can see in the examples of that time.

They had Gameboy light though
The Worm Light was good for a quick fix but was an absolute battery vampire. But not to the extent the Game Gear was!
SoftwareAgentsCorp For sure. I didn't use mine as much for that reason. I had an adapter for my GBA that plugged into an outlet, so when I got a chance to use that, I used the Worm Light without killing batteries.
I think they didn't include the backlight to extend that battery life. Allowing people to have a backlight would damage the brand which probably focused on playtime.

Actually the name of the gba link cable was given to the gba accessory that connects to the gamecube.the multitap was the new name given since some gba games go up to 4 players

As far as I know, the screen on the GBA-SP was _frontlit_, not backlit.

The ags-001 model was front-lit while the later ags-101 model was back lit.
It was "Pokemon Gold & Silver" that was last game for the GBC, and N64 at an attachment that plies Gameboy Games too. Just sayin

The OG Gameboy did come with an accessory that did allow for the Worm Light to plug in it was a two pronged adapter that on end plugged into the OG game boy and the other accessory from the gameboy color plugged into the other end.
Ah the worm-light, I had one of those... Yeah now I feel old... lol
Youre supposed to move the wormlight into the position you like, angle it so the light isnt shooting back at you and so its not blocking your view

I had a lot of these….. HandyBoy (a bit clunky, though, and button analog thing unneeded, they didn’t help at all, decent sound, though), e-Reader, Camera including the Zelda edition 1, Printer, Super GameBoy (Japan had a 2nd that you could link up a GamrBoy Pocket/Color to.)

I wanted one with speakers on the side. Only accessory I had was of course the light.
I would have loved to have the "Work Boy" when I was a kid. I wrote a lot as a kid.

All the Generation 2 Pokémon games were compatible with the Game Boy Printer and had parts of the game that allowed you to print out stuff.
*sigh* Ah the Link Cable. Those were the days. So nostalgic.
I didn't have a link cable. So I had to deal with an incomplete pokedex in Pokémon until I found out about glitches.
I love my DS and was surprised by that because I didn't think I would like it because my psp was my favourite hand held and now I'm not sure if I like it or the DS better I do like the fact that it uses carts instead of umd discs that I loved when they first came out
The Gameboy Light didn't come to the US because Nintendo of America didn't want to waste time with a new version an old handheld when the brand new Gameboy Color was right around the corner.
One of the most anoying things about the worm light is that when you plug it in and your power is low poof it turns off

Wasn't there also a TV tuner like the one SEGA made for Game Gear?

Where did the video go silent for you? I rewatched the ending and there was no part with missing audio for me. The only gameplay audio that was silent was when I was talking over the Pokémon footage, but the segment itself still had my commentary over it.

The end for me is just two pictures of gameboys with link cables when I say "thank you all for watching..." and then it ends without any extra space. I'm not sure if RUclips glitched or if I'm just not seeing something. I'll look into it.

I sure admit to having that heavy lighted magnifying glass for OGB....still have it but it was pretty much useless from the get go. I remember the first hour ooohing and aaaahing over how "big" and lit it made the screen. Two or three days later I was back to using the OGB naked....lol. The thing was way too heavy with stuff on it and the difference it made wasn't big enough. Did you know that when the original GB came out Nintendo made batteries and tried to convince us that any other batteries "could" damage the GB?? Always use official Nintendo batteries. I guess so---the thing sucked up four a week, lol. I actually asked my science professor if that was true and immediately started using regular batteries when he said it was just a decietful selling ploy. COOL. The link cable was the best accessory. That was a really good video, thanks

I never heard of that before now. I looked it up and it looks useful considering the removal of the headphone jack was the only removed feature I did not like when the SP came out. I loved everything else.

excellent video but I don't understand the deal with those designer platfor. shoes or whatever . If that was there to be a gag to throw us for a loop okay, but that's not an accessory. that's a postmodern art display. I'm sure there's one more you could have squeezed in there aside from that.
I sometimes put a joke entry that still makes sense in the context of the list, but is there for a comedic, obscure choice. I thought it was a funny play on words that someone made an accessory out of gameboys, which is theory is a gameboy (clothing) accessory (like how a clothing accessory made of gold is a gold accessory).

Many of my lists have a joke entry and that was the joke entry. I don't exactly think of it as trolling since I thought the segment was pretty self aware. I found that weird fashion statement in my research on gameboy stuff, so I thought it would make a funny entry since they're impractical for both a gameboy and a person.

I got the gamegear as my first hand held so it took me along time to get a Nintendo hand held because my friend had a original game boy and it didn't come close to the gamegear which I have one still today not my original one but I got a good deal one this one with 23 games

Uh, I was unaware I said anything negative about the Gameboy Advance SP. I meant to call it an upgrade from the original Gameboy Advance rather than a spinoff, but other than that I think I treated it pretty well considering I was using it specifically for the backlight when recording certain parts lol
***** Lol. I was sorta joking, because you called it a spin-off. I count the SP as a remake of the GameBoy Advance, kinda like how, in Pokemon, they just remade Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire Versions in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Version, and they are counted as main-series. Where as Pokemon games, such as the Mystery Dungeon series (Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity for example) is counted as a spin-off, or side series. I meant no offense, just joking around. ^_^ Also, I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOUR NUMBER ONE!!! THE LINK CABLE IS NOSTALGIC TO ME!!! Younger kids nowadays won't know wtf it is, but I love it. xD :)

Haha, I had a feeling it was a joke. My main three (the nostalgic trio) are the clear purple Gameboy Color, See-through Original Gameboy Advance that was the promo ereader pack, and my cobalt blue GBA SP. I've been slacking on getting the recent DSs, but I may eventually, which would be shown off in a video if relavent. You have a nice collection there, especially with the line of 3DS releases.

Sadly, it's only compatible with the various Game Boy systems. DS connects with other DSs wirelessly.
