  • In this video I show you how I diagnosed and fixed a misfire on cylinder 2 in a Fox 1.2 liter (engine code BMD). I first read out the error and then visualized the misfire detection in the measured value block. Then I swapped the components such as the spark plug, ignition coil and injection valve across to check whether the error moved along. That wasn't the case, so I did a compression measurement and found that cylinder 2 only had 5 bar compression instead of at least 10 bar. After troubleshooting, I had to remove the cylinder head. After removing it, I saw that the exhaust valve was burned and no longer sealed. However, the cause of the error was the worn valve guide, which meant that the valve did not rest properly on the valve seat and could release heat. Consequence: The valve burns and no reasonable compression can be achieved in the cylinder.
The same problem can also occur on the other cylinders:
    P0301/16685/000769 - Cylinder 1: Misfire detected
    P0303/16687/000771 - Cylinder 3: Misfire detected
    00:00 - 0:17 Read error memory
    0:18 - 1:31 Read measured value blocks
    1:32 - 1:43 compression measurement evaluation
    1:44 - 5:54 Cylinder head removal
    5:55 - 7:27 Install exhaust valves
    7:28 - 8:40 Cylinder head installation
    8:41 - 9:33 Test run
