Please do a color theory video! I love your explanation and wording of things, it really helps me understand. I’ve been struggling so much with gouache and portraits, so I’m really trying to step back and understand and learn as much as I can.
I've started planning a video on color theory! 🎉 I want to take my time with it to ensure it's a valuable resource for people. It's so fantastic to see that there's interest in the topic!
I have been watching some of your older videos since just finding your channel and wow, watching this one it is so amazing and inspiring to see how far you’ve come and how amazing you’re doing! 🥲 well done Emily 🎉keep up the amazing work xxx❤
Stunning and mesmerizing to watch how this beautiful face emerged with strokes of paint and colors! I would love to try a first portrait of a young woman I met at a Botanical garden in Matane, Quebec who had a pet cat touring the gardens with her! I usually paint landscapes but would like to try my hand at portraits in gouache ❤❤❤!
4:57 • oh my gosh,,,, until this video, ive actually never heard anyone explain the process of visually indicating planes/details of a piece as “describing” the plane/detail???? that’s SUCH A COOL WAY of putting it???!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭 like, i’m actually so fascinated by that verbiage bc it points out how you’re basically just translating the (digital) reference image into a (physical) gauche painting!!!!! WAH!!!!!!~~~im barely even halfway into this video & it’s already being so helpful with my understanding of these troyes of technical concepts
So cool to see the process of this piece that’s on the box! 😍 how did you decide to make this one for the box? Or did you have several paintings as options? 😄
Thanks for the video Em! Are you starting the skin with more watered down gouache and then you build it up with a more creamy consistency? Got your brushes can’t wait to paint with you!
Yes, exactly! I usually start the skin with a more watered down consistency and then transition to a creamier consistency for the rest of the painting 😊 Thank you so much for purchasing a brush set!! I hope you enjoy them! 💖
Thanks for the lovely video, Emily! I always love watching you create. I’d love to follow along using your brushes, but couldn’t find the reference photo on your Pinterest. Is it available somewhere? Thank you!
I'd like to ask about the white of her eyes. You mention the mix looked crazy on the palette yet natural next to the rest of colours. Then how did you know that's the colour you should mix and put there?
plz do a color theory video and how you mix your color on a portrait 😢 i always end up with a portrait that the shadows seems so dark and the light is off i mean i really think that portrait not for me
I haven't done much landscape art (I did do a tiny bit back in art school), but I really want to try it. Specifically plein air painting! It would definitely be out of my comfort zone though 😅 I do want to show some of my old work, I have some older paintings and a bunch of old sketchbooks I've thought about sharing.
A mix of both! I majored in drawing and painting at university, but I also spent a significant amount of time studying on my own as I found that many of the things I was interested in weren't covered in school 😅

Дивовижно! ❤❤❤
Hello, what brand of gouache are you using? Thanks.

In the process of researching/ creating a color theory video! 🫶 Don't give up on portraits, it just takes practice 😊 Keep painting!
Just curious.. will you ever do landscape painting? You ever did? Can we see Your old work??

@@emhuesart I'll look forward to that ☺️💖
are you self taught? or did you have classes?
A mix of both! I majored in drawing and painting at university, but I also spent a significant amount of time studying on my own as I found that many of the things I was interested in weren't covered in school 😅
Not first but early!
🎉💖
Why dont you block in the skin with the lightest tone all over, then layer darker tones to build up the correct facial tones?
J aime beaucoup vos portraits. Pourriez vous lorsque vous peignez, nous montrer vos melanges ?
