Hearing the hearty laugh of Sylvia truly brings sunshine in a gloomy day. I just feel her sincerity through the effort that she puts in her work. I truly wish you success in all the endeavors you would be undertaking.
Rewinded it many times and she pronounced "ng" correctly. The fact that hangeul has a specific character/letter for the "ng" sound which is ㅇ, she surely knows how this sound is produced compared to some of our dialects/languages where "ng" is not as commonly use as in Tagalog or Korean.
Having a korean accent is all part of the package! It doesn't matter as long as the heart of singing for your audience is there. Do not try to change your style. It is, what it is. ^_^ and "THAT" is your charm Sylvia!

10:44 -- *_Sylvia isn't singing "putim ilaw"... I don't know where the guy is hearing the 'm'. However, the issue is she's singing it as "putingilaw" instead of "puting ilaw." Syllable-wise , she sings it like "pu-ting-ngi-law" instead of "pu-ting-ee-law". There is a very slight pause between the two words._*
I'm happy Sylvia has returned here in Baguio. I hope she loves the relaxed and happy vibe of Baguio people, aside from the chill weather. ❤ Baguio is one of the best places to heal, to study uni, to develop deep relationships with people. 😊
Im watching u for quite a while and i saw how u progress and now u can string up tagalog sentences that makes sense... "simple lang sa umaga pero sa gabi marami" good job
Ganda talaga ng weather sa Baguio.❤❤ Gusto ko ung pagsasalita mo Ng Tagalog ate Sylvia. Fighting! Magiging fluent ka din balang araw. Love you ate Sylvia!!💙💗💙
HI Silvia, its nice you are there in Baguio, So many Koreans also there, they have many business there like in SM Baguio, and its nice to deal with them.. I am from Baguio also there in Quirino Hill..
❤ I miss my hometown… 😢 Glad to see you visiting Baguio… hope you also have a chance to jam with the local musicians there. The music in Baguio is a bit different than what you hear in the Metro.
I like Sylvia's personality. Korea is a very convenient country , everything is fast and its easier to pay for something. While philippines is opposite we are laidback , the traffic the payment method and queues is tiring. Korea is more clean while our country PH some are clean some are not plus there are beggars which makes foreigners terrified. However i love how Slyvia still keep on coming back in our country and still learning and embracing our culture even though there are a lot of cons living here compare to her country. I appreciate Slyvia' s content enjoying here in the PH and also acknowledging some things in a very respectful way of giving opinion like having the balance , when she talked about the beggars.
YOUR TAGALOG IMPROVED OMG.. i'd say ur tagalog fluency level would be B2. ihavent seen anyone who learned tagalog later i their life. most foreignrs that speaks tagalog are usually the ones who grew up around filipinos, so they learned it naturally.
KUDOS Syl, your Tagalog is getting better and better. You deserve it'coz you're truly a Pinay at Heart. Keep up the good works Syl. Be safe and Godspeed!!!
Sadly, you've been there when it was rainy. It would have been a refreshing tour with the sun coz it adds brightness to the nature. See you there in Baguio make your MV in the future too, why not. GOOD LUCK, GIRL!
As I’m watching this video I could say na tinatangkilik mo ang iyong pananatili dito sa Baguio po ate Sylvia. Keep enjoying po hope to meet you someday if got chance.
We have to thank Mayor Magalong for the improvements - I think he is sincere in saying to at least transform the city like Singapore in phases - say illegal squatters, spagheti wiring, cable cars etc. - the beggars/street dwellers are being corraled in Metro Manila by DSWD for IDS & biometrics to help them - Baguio will do d same - in the news -
the way you pronounce "puting" is correct its that when combined with ilaw something is not right and I can't explain it either, you may wanna compare it with other singer😅
hi sylvia.. im ur avid follower here..welcome to my hometown baguio...Baguio is the coldest place in the philippines,, and in this season its really rain a lot...take care and enjooyyy staying in the city...😊😊🤗🤗
Sah eee-lah-lim nang pooh-ho-ti-eeng eeh-laaoo. Note: e=pronounced as in english "e" and "lao" like in cara-"bao" or bow [as in take a bow or bow down]. Good luck!
The trick in speaking/reading Tagalog is our root vowel sounds: a, e, i, o, u (pronounced as: ah, eh, ee, awe, ooh). Our words are just a combo of simple consonant sounds and the said vowel sounds. Try it with ba, be, bi, bo, bu; ka, ke, ki, ko, ku..
Hi Sylvia , it's nice to see you well and enjoying your time in Baguio hope you've having a great time in your entire stay in the Philippines stay safe always.
I recommend you visit mindanao also. You start first in davao city and other davao regions. We do have a lot of korean there. Then explore bukidnon..it is like the tagaytay and baguio of mindanao combined.
I'm a university student in Baguio and November to February can actually get so cold there. During February this year, I experience 10 degrees temperature there. It's so cold I couldn't stay without clothes for even a second after taking a shower since there's no idea of built-in heaters in Baguio houses during these months hahaha
I honestly listen to your covers before I sleep, your voice sounds so good and there's nothing wrong with your pronunciation. Also, your "puting" ilaw sounded as the word itself, I do not hear the word "putim" 😅 I am looking forward for more of you singing Sylvia 😊
Been to south korea, I was shocked also because i wasn't expecting some beggars in some one of the tourist spots that we've been.i thought also that slums doesn't exist in korea because it is a developed country unfortunately not every one is fortunate. Expectations vs reality. Guryong village for example.
Yeah, odd that she would utter that casual comment when most cities, even in the highly developed countries, have slum areas and depressed areas with lots of crime, homeless people and drug addicts. Seoul, HK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, etc., have them.
For the "puting ilaw" portion, how you sing it sounds like "puting ngilaw" so there's the residual '-ng' sound from the word "puting" in front. You can drop that so that it sounds more natural (like "punting" then "ilaw", probably practice to say the two words separately as practice). Hope that helps :) Also enjoy your stay there in Baguio!
100% agree. Also, on top of saying the two words separately, she should emphasize the “il” in ilaw, maybe try saying it as “ee-law”. Like the ee in eel.
You may say, "style ko ito" if its pertaining to your style.. but if pertains to its popular today, "yan (this is the)/ ito (its the) style ngaun (today)"
for me you pronounced "ng" correctly, the thing that makes it sound like you have an accent is the sound you make before the "ng". example, in "puting", it's how you vocalize the "i" before "ng" (the "ee" sound"), yours sounds a little constricted in the throat. native tagalog pronounce it with a more open throat sound. hope this helps. love your voice by the way ❤
look, it's normal that you have an accent because you're not local. If we want someone to sing an OPM with a pinoy tongue then we will just get a local. You or any foreign acts who try their best to sing OPM is actually more endearing because they put extra effort to sing songs that are foreign to them. Love lots Sylvia.
I think this would be helpful. The difference in your first pronunciation and the correct one is you put emphasis on 'ng' on the first one while 'i' on the latter. For 'Buwan', I think the emphasis should be on the 'i' as most common ballads put emphasis on vowels to be more melodic. :)
Your pronunciations are good ate, and having an accent is okay. The local accent is something you adopt over time as you converse more in Tagalog
Hearing the hearty laugh of Sylvia truly brings sunshine in a gloomy day. I just feel her sincerity through the effort that she puts in her work. I truly wish you success in all the endeavors you would be undertaking.
