Yes, it can be removed. I just tested it for you. The screws are a little bit bigger than the screw that holds the camera, so you can't use the tool it ships with. When you unscrew it the wood still holds in place, but you can push it out (it isn't glued, instead the wood has a special form on the back that fits nicely in the metal body.
Exceptional Job! Would you mind providing a complete parts list for the external battery and battery mount? (and yes this is often a great camera for time-lapse!) Thanks in advance!
I don't mind, here you go: the external battery used in this video is a "cellularline powerbank". I couldn't find this exact battery on amazon, but I linked to a similar battery in the video description. The mount I used is the smartphone holder that comes with Zhiyun Crane M2. I used this also in my gimbal video (ruclips.net/video/biQoLxl16IE/видео.html) as a battery holder. It is attached to the rig with a Metal ball-head Swivel Mount (lamp bracket) that was included with my Aputure Light (amzn.to/37Sy61j). Hope that helps!
Great review man, I just bought the cage thanks to your review. I use the rx100 vii also and your review helps because you showed it with the zhiyun m2 which I also use. I heard using the zoom function is awkward with the cage, what's your opinion on that?
Thanks for the nice feedback! When the camera is in the cage the zoom is still usable (with your fingernail), but it's not as comfortable, because your finger bends around the wood grip and you have your fingertip in a narrow space left open in the cage. If you use the full finger (and not just the fingernail) it will bump into the cage on the way to the left and you cannot move the zoomslider completely to the left.
Hey, thanks for sharing such a great review, I've subscribed and look forward to more content. I have recently purchased and reviewed a UURig camera cage for the Sony A7 series and I am very pleased with it. I was surprised at the difference in price between the UURig and its competitors such as Smallrig. Do you think there is any difference in the quality of the product? Feel free to check out my channel to support a fellow tech reviewer! All the best, TruePreView.
To me they seem very similar (looking at the product pictures). But as I don't have a Smallrig I can't compare them to each other. I only can say that I am very satisfied with the build quality of the UURig. So far I have no complaints or regrets about buying the cage. All the best for your channel!
Hi, can you please tell me the distance between the two screw holes on the top, over the lens?
Sure, it's 3.2 cm.
Clean review. To the point with measurements. Thanks
dang, did they discontinue this model? can't find it anywhere
Hello
Do you think you can still use the shutter button if you mount a speedlite onto the cage ? is there enough space ? thank you
It seems quite big to me, so I think it could be difficult, if you mount it to the cold shoe mount on the top.
Can i attach neck strap in the camera inside the cage?
Yes
hello . can the wooden grip be removed ? i have the sony grip on mine and i dont want to remove it . thanks

@@chris_urra does it look ugly without the wooden grip? thanks :)
No, it does not look ugly. You just see the black metal frame (similar to the other side).
@@chris_urra thanks for your time , my goal is to mount a YN560 speedlite on the cage and lets hope ill be able to use the zoom and shutter button,
Incredible Work 👍
can this be used on rx100 m3?
I don't think so.

Hi, Is there any chance the cage fits the HX-99?
Sorry, but I don't know the HX-99.
@@chris_urra Ok
