Phillip, I wanted you to know how much I enjoy the music you select for the videos. I think it adds a texture of fun and drama. I know how much work it must be, but it is very much appreciated.
I was going to comment that there was a definite Tarantino vibe using the spaghetti western soundtrack whilst on the miniature steam railway - brilliant !
Today is Mother's Day in the US and I want to wish Anna, her mother and mother-in-law a very happy Mother's Day. Seeing that spectacular garden was a real treat.
Anna, I love the way you speak about your mother in law and parents with such love & respect. It’s so lovely to see. You’re all blessed. What beautiful gardens!
Extremely moving episode, packed full of the love you share as a family and the joy and appetite for life! A great lesson of positivism and enthusiasm! Thank you!
It was beautiful watching Hildegard hug the girls goodbye; she held them close and extra long despite a few squirms from the girls. That sends a clear love message, and one day they’ll think back on those hugs and be so grateful for them. A grandma’s love gives a child a secure foundation. It’s clear that both sides of the family are loving, kind, and down to earth people.
A few years ago I created new garden bed in the front of my yard right along the sidewalk and I’ve been very surprised at just how many people have said how much they enjoy seeing it as they walk or drive past. Gardens really are good for the soul, so as always, thank you for taking us along with you.
How lucky you are to have such a lovely family ! I'm very glad the classical music is back. Yours is one of the very few channel I don't cut the sound off. Have a nice week !
Beautiful…..tears when Hildegard left. The kids are so lucky to have her and your parents, Anna! Precious memories are being made. The Rothschild garden is sensational. Thank you for taking us with you. Happy gardening, Philipp. Love to you all. ❤
My grandmother had a rhododendron garden with rhoddies from all over the world. Her gardener trimmed them underneath to make caves for us to hide and play in. It was wonderful under there in the spring, when I was little! She hired a professional gardener to design and plant her extensive gardens, backed by hardwood forests that were managed. There was a little/bigish pond full of frogs and a floating dead tree to climb on that always rolled and dumped us! The pond was very deep, deep enough to swim and dive in. She made a little sandy beach beside it with a shallow area for us little kids. There was a pool house and a diving board for Swan Dives and Cannonballs!. There were so many deer in the forest and lots of raccoons and interesting footprints all around the pond. What I loved was the dirt path through the woods. The path was full of tree roots and they made odd spaces just big enough for my little feet. My mother said the trees made these little steps just for me! So I had a very loving feeling for trees from the beginning, holding my mother's hand and toddling thru the woods! Make a beautiful path under drooping branches and a beautiful garden with a moving water feature, Phillip. Even if it is just a fountain or a bird bath with a low section, animals can come to drink from, outside the kitchen windows, so you can watch them! , You can put up a sign that says "No Wild Boars!" to keep them away. My dad put up a sign that said "No squirrels allowed! " on the bird feeder one night when he was drunk. It worked! If you have a local university with a horticulture and forestry program, you might get free care, if you offered your woods as a classroom workshop. If you clear out your woods of young trees, it would be very nice to replant them over at the church, which is so barren. A shady place with a bench to contemplate the brevity of life and the closeness of God......dedicate the bench with a brass plaque, "In loving memory of Everybody Here!....." and maybe the idea will catch on!
Sous beautiful, great childhood memories. We had a gazebo up a steep hill with hundreds of daffodils that were so pretty in the spring, there was a barn in back storing hay bales where we would build forts and play. So many kids won't have memories playing outside. I wouldn't come home till dinner time, either riding my bicycle adventures with the neighborhood kids.
@@3_3645 You are right! We were so lucky. Its too dangerous now to let little girls ride bikes on country roads. We even had a kidnapping here last year. She has never been found.
Your words are very descriptive & you wove a beautiful picture of your childhoods woodland experience! I could see the beauty & feel your young wonder & excitement! Do you know if it is still there or did progress take it away? What a great chance to allow a child's imagination Excell! You could be Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest or stranded with Friday on Robinson Caruso's Island or another day with Christopher Robin, Kanga, Roo Pigglet & Winnie the Pooh & don't forget Eeyore! What Fun❤!!!
So many special magical moments in this video. Family connections; your precious girls; Ziggy; steam train adventure and that familiar ‘I’m in heaven’ smile of Philipp at the helm of the steam train; the music; stunning garden; witnessing Philipp’s excitement to enhance the garden back at the chateau; the discounts offered to fans such as Square Space and your very own designed candles; the list goes on! Fabulous episode yet again. You have an ingenious way of making us all feel part of the family. That is why, no matter what the content, I’ll always be a fan and subscriber. Wishing you a fabulous week ahead, Mary from tropical Central East Coast, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺 😍🥰❤️
I second that wholeheartedly . Thank you @howtorenovateachateau for letting us enjoy this stunning flower garden, I looooove it so much❤ thank you so much
What a terrific Mother’s Day video. The garden is just magnificent. Thank you so much for the tour with your lovely Family. The flowering shrubs in spring are so uplifting. The forsythia, witch hazels, azaleas, rhododendrons, lilacs just bring such wonderful color into the garden.
I have spent the whole month watching destruction. This episode was very inspiring. As always, you match your videos with the perfect music! Gardens need gardeners and money, but they also need people who are committed to progress, authenticity, creativity, hard work, long-term goals, and peace. In a culture mostly interested in instant gratification and destruction, the first thing to dissapear is the beauty around us. Your family is doing a good job teaching your kids to love a garden. Your girls will always think twice about destroying anything. In fact; they will find it utterly stupid.
Thank you for taking us on a tour of that magical garden. Here in western Canada, the plants are just peaking out from the winter. Happy Mother’s Day Anna and both grandmothers.🇨🇦🤗
I got teary-eyed when Hildegard left. Your children are lucky to have such wonderful grandparents in their lives The Rothschild gardens were breathtakingly beautiful.
Phillip I loved seeing the joy on your face and how inspired and enthusiastic you are. Your appreciation of the garden took me back to being in Germany on this day in 2012. I had surgery and for two months after lived at the Hundertwasser Haus in Gruga Park in Essen. During my recovery my mom and I had daily access to gardens and we still didn’t see everything. What a wonderful video for us in the states today as it’s Mother’s Day and seeing you and Anna with both sets of of parents and having the girls….what special memories you’ve shared!
Beautiful. A garden is a long long work. I am working in my garden for 15 years by now. It's always changing. We learn to be patient, let the nature do is work and appreciate each moment of the process. Certainly, my favorite creation during my life. Our garden around the house is a piece of our hart my husband and I. We love every flowers in it, remember each time we spend to transform it and make it beautiful. 💘 Wish you a serene, luxurious and gorgeous garden.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mom’s. Ziggy is the sweetest dog. Love all of your parents. You are very lucky to have such a wonderful family. What a beautiful garden of azaleas and rhododendrons. Spectacular colors, textures, and varieties. Thank you for posting this on Mothers Day (United States). ❤️
Always a delight to see everyone together, especially the patriarch of the family, (Anna's dad) with his lovely smile - always radiating gentleness. The garden is so so beautiful- lovely - would love to visit.
Watching you all say goodbye to Hildegard made me tear up because I know exactly how she feels! You can tell the girls love her so much and you all love each other who can ask more than that! You are all truly blessed.
Happy Mother’s Day to Anna, her mom, and Philip’s mom. Loved going with you to England and walking through those lovely gardens. And of course the train ride. When the “rhoddies” and azaleas are in bloom it is gorgeous. I just happen to live in Rhododendron, Oregon. I hadn’t realized how many colors of rhododendron there are until I moved here, some bloom early and some bloom late. Just in our little neighborhood we have about ten different colors, maybe more. They would look lovely in amongst your woods or hedge. Oh, and there are variegated ones also
Such a fun tour of a beautiful garden. I can imagine all the inspiration you were able to garner from that stroll through such beauty. Your sending off of your mother was so touching. Little Ella chasing the car down the road was so sweet. I’m sure your girls have a special relationship with all of their grandparents. It’s very sweet of you to share it with us. ❤️😊
It is Mother’s Day in Canada as well. Happy Mother’s Day Anna (to you and both your Mothers). It was so nice to see the close relationship with both mothers. I loved this episode (as I do all the others). It is just the beautiful English gardens that you navigated us through. Beautiful. Thank you, Merci. See you next week.
This is where I live. How wonderful to see on your film. I love it here. You have a wonderful family. My family love visiting from around the world too.
I got so much joy out of watching Ziggy get a bath. He is such a good boy and reminds me of my doggie Kodi. My gosh his face those floppy ears just burst my heart open. I still miss my Pooh.
I almost cried with that great plain, the nearing woodland, the streams, the gorse... and then the perfectly imperfect English garden. Food for the soul. If anyone is nearby, I was just in Washington DC, and Hillwood has an impressive azalea collection! Dumbarton Oaks was glorious too. How lovely to see the girls' sad goodbye to grandma H.
Here in Canada it’s Mothers Day so I’d like to wish a Happy Mothers Day from Canada to you dear Anna and thank you for taking me along in your beautiful creative mind and all the beauty you create, I just love it!
Just yesterday I took my family to visit a botanical garden + arboretum, and i thought that it was the most beautiful one i've seen. But, it is quite clear that the Exbury Garden is 100 times more beautiful just from the pictures! Amazing place.
Thank you for that special treat. There is nothing like an English garden to start your day with a smile. You folks have the perfect setting to plant some of the gorgeous bushes we saw in this video. I can't wait to see what you do!
Loved the shots of Lily leaping over the streams, then Ella carefully crossing the stream - and the music coordination 🥰. Also laughed out loud at Philippe's transition from Ziggy's small "round space" bath to the sponsor...well done 😆
Love it that you take Ziggy along your adventures-that garden was exquisite and so many plants/bushes, azaleas, rhododendrons and more are frequent here in WA state. The Pacific Northwest. Sad to see ‘grandma’ leave you all-you could tell how much a bond she has with the girls. Precious!! Thank you Anna and Phillip.
I'm so glad you showed Exbury. I've long known of them because so many wonderful plants were developed there, and those Exbury hybrid azaleas are incredible, with fantastic fragrances. I had a friend in Northern California that had a spectacular garden and nursery specialising in Rhododendrons and azaleas in particular, but was passionate about plants as well (as I am), he did beautiful landscaping with them, and all kinds of companion plantings in a loving setting with a year-round stream and beautiful pond. So, I hope Phillip can realise his passion for your own garden. How I would love to do something like that myself, I've had big gardens in the past, and I miss them. But, at least living in Normandie I can see lots of beautiful places here, and just the countryside itself is amazing.
Thank you for taking us to see this beautiful garden! I love how they had created little pockets of calm within the garden that you can diacover after walking through a pathway, a row or hedges or a "tunnel" of trees. If you can do something like that in your chateau garden I'm certain it'll give a similar vibe to this garden. I can't wait to see work that you'll do at the chateau.❤
LOVE that you include Ziggy in all your activities. What a truly lucky dog! The music this week was wonderful. And the garden made me want to go outside and plant - but I'd 11:30 at night here.
Anna, the ice cream goal for the walk was a classic 😂 And it worked!! The gardens were beautiful (both of them!!). Just briefly worried that Phillip was toying with the idea of home railway, but relieved that the sailing passion has been satisfied by the new boat - happy sailing!
Thank you for a wonderful visit to a lovely garden. Seeing you on Sundays fills me with joy. My late husband and I saw similar rhododendrons on our visit to Ireland and they along with lilacs are plants I miss in Florida where they can’t grow but I did have growing up.
Thank you for sharing one of the U.K.'s beautiful gardens. Your gardens say something wonderful of the gardeners, landscape architects, families that work hard to put them together and keep them intact and the soul of your Nation. Hats off to the U.K. If the British are proud of their gardens, they are rightfully so.
What a magnificent Mother’s Day video the garden is one of the best in the world at its height of beauty. You could have a large piece of this in your English garden. At such a young age you will actually live to see its beauty….and the kids will enjoy it maybe on its 100th birthday.
The Rothschild garden is an amazing paradise. All the gorgeous colors so carefully cultivated and cared for. The little train is a lovely touch. Thank you for sharing the day with us. ❤
What a great episode. Seeing all the grands together with your girls was so lovely. Ella running after Oma’s car as she was leaving made me tear up. Love the fact that Mr Rothschild finally got his train, even if it took a few decades. He sure left an amazing legacy with his garden. My favourite rhododendrons are the light yellow ones, so glad you showed a few. I can totally see rhododendrons in your chateau garden, interwoven among the trees so they get a bit of shade. Anna the shirt you wear at the end, looks crocheted, is gorgeous.
I was lucky enough to have a 70 year old gardener took my friend and I on a private tour of Exbury gardens and wot i loved most was the best collection of Acers ive ever seen in one Beautiful gardens ❤❤ thankyou you for this video x
Philip, I know exactly what you feel like, when you go to a garden center. I just planted all my pots for summer. 🌺🌸Just LOVE plants and scrubs. It’s really hard NOT to buy everything I see. 🥰
He is of film(ing) background😉i can imagine he knows very well what he is doing and willing to put in the work to get the best results😃☺
Agree 💯. Always enjoy the chosen music. Fits perfectly.
I thought the same, it really adds a lot of quality to your videos and ties everything together.
Today is Mother's Day in the US and I want to wish Anna, her mother and mother-in-law a very happy Mother's Day. Seeing that spectacular garden was a real treat.
Happy Mothers Day!! 💐
Happy mother's Day!💝🌷 It is also mother's day in Brazil today.
Wonderful video! Love family and the gardens! Wow! ❤
It was Mothers' Day almost everuwhere yesterday. Hope everybody had a nice day.
In the Philippines, too!
Anna seems the most happiest when she’s traveling or adventuring. I love Anna’s dad he needs his own channel. ❤
I agree, he seems like a natural narrator/tour guide!
Anna, I love the way you speak about your mother in law and parents with such love & respect. It’s so lovely to see. You’re all blessed. What beautiful gardens!

Absolutely. I can NOT do those electro anxiety inducing percussive soundtracks. Thank you Phillip.
Beautiful…..tears when Hildegard left. The kids are so lucky to have her and your parents, Anna! Precious memories are being made. The Rothschild garden is sensational. Thank you for taking us with you. Happy gardening, Philipp. Love to you all. ❤

Gorgeous gardens ,fantastic display of color.
What beautiful garden and with its own steam train 🚂 What a wonderful time with family. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us 😍😘
What a magnificent Mother’s Day video the garden is one of the best in the world at its height of beauty. You could have a large piece of this in your English garden. At such a young age you will actually live to see its beauty….and the kids will enjoy it maybe on its 100th birthday.
That was fab! The garden was spectacular!
I felt that way when I visited Kew Gardens. It’s so magical!
The Rothschild garden is an amazing paradise. All the gorgeous colors so carefully cultivated and cared for. The little train is a lovely touch. Thank you for sharing the day with us. ❤
Philipp In Heaven: stunning gardens, riding in a train up front, & sailboats!
Definitely a beautiful garden, thankyou for taking us along.. bye Oma, see you another time ❤😊
Round Space to SquareSpace! ❤ Best "commercial" transition ever!

Ziggy joyfully waded in the pond but then hesitated to get in the bath, how sweet.
I live about 2 miles from the gardens, beautiful
I love seeing the warm relationship amongst all the family ❤❤❤
Philip, I know exactly what you feel like, when you go to a garden center. I just planted all my pots for summer. 🌺🌸Just LOVE plants and scrubs. It’s really hard NOT to buy everything I see. 🥰
Phillip, I agree this garden is so magnificent. Thank you for sharing this. From the USA❤
