I learned something from the idea of "let's bet small because villain is gonna be very tempted to raise now with nuts, weakening their calling range"

Pete, this is not a troll question, it's a genuine one: how likely do you think it is that someone who buys the CPS full scholarship will actually make their money back? Games are bad, rake is obscene, and most people who buy the course will be way below what it takes to win at anything above the micros anyway. Given all that, the chances are small, right? Just seems extortionately priced for what seems like a bad investment for most people.

Games are bad? Have you played online lately? The games are GOOD.

I agree with feaster, I can’t speak on the CPS but I do have a carrot corner subscription and I’m no crusher but I am beating the cash games on ACR for 4.5 bb’s/100 and that’s pre rakeback over the last 100,000 hands which I believe is a pretty decent win rate these days and I have Pete to thank for a majority of that win rate. He has improved my game tremendously and I would bet my bankroll the CPS is worth its weight in gold and will likely be purchasing it myself as I move up through the stakes in due time.

I can't speak for how good or bad online is. I recently moved in order to play live poker and however good or bad online is it's impossible that it's softer/easier to beat than live where it's easy to make 5-10x BB/hr. That said, I think anyone who buys the CPS and expects it to work miracles on its own is expecting too much. Just like actual school how much you get out of it is going to be proportional to how much time/effort you put in. If you buy the course and then watch each episode once and do nothing else you're not going to get much out of it. However, if you buy the course, watch each episode multiple times, take notes, do the homework, work with a solver yourself, practice the concepts on GTO+/PIO/GTOW, etc. it will absolutely make you a better player as you're learning poker from the ground up. The thing is that to learn anything from the ground up requires drilling it consistently and consciously until it gets deep into your unconscious, and there's no magic bullet to getting there beyond time and effort. The course can be an excellent guide to getting there, but it can't be the be-all, end-all on its own, and it can't be a replacement for your own efforts.

I would say that - and this is not a troll answer (though saying that sounds like trolling...) - your question tells me that you would be well served just to watch his free RUclips content or cash injection for now. The variance of poker makes it impossible to answer your question with any certainty or accuracy. It would also greatly depend on your volume, stakes, and bankroll. These are concepts that the RUclips content will instill + a whole lot more poker knowledge.

You played well. I would really like to see your redline for educational purposes. I really struggle keeping it above 0 even after going for it in many spots.

    • @PhonyBologna

A lot of 'redline' can be gained by folding early. You lose a lot of non-showdown by calling then folding later in the hand.
So as such, it can simply be working on things like checkraise or folding from OOP with certain hand classes that is often overlooked greatly.
Most people think its all about barreling. Its also about defending better from the blinds.

In games like this it will be hard to have a positive red line.
You might win like 1 bb / 100 in red line, but look what they are calling down with...
You really just want your red line to stay as close to flat as possible, you really have to over fold in a lot of spots.
