- In this video we'll shoot a variety of bullets at beer kegs to see what kind of performance and penetration each bullet offers (Soft cast & Soft cast hollow point high expansion rounds) (Hard cast penetrator rounds) (Hard cast Steel core penetrator rounds / Black tip penetrator)
FYI - You mentioned it was an aluminum keg. It's actually Stainless Steel. When you turned it, you could see the SS stamp.Pretty sure that if it was aluminum, that all your rounds would have gone through.
Yes! I noticed that as well😂 That tells me that these slugs would have accomplished a lot more penitration had these kegs actually been made out of aluminum👍

Awesome video! Have been looking more and more into bigger bores for deer hunting. Being up here on the prairie some of the shots are long. Would be fun to show up to camp with a "BB gun" and drop a nice deer

I like the longer video format with the slow mo shots its like im actually there. The air force texan with the steel core ammo was incredible. The kegs did surprisingly well with just lead. I see the mini fridge isn't at the dump yet i think the compressor on the backside would make a good vid with the steel core ammo. Im looking to get a high fpe pcp soon (texan lss or hatsan piledriver) and i can't decide on the .45 or .50
As for the giveaways if you wanna do it I feel it's good to start small to help the channel and community grow. And later on maybe something bigger. Stay safe if you're out and about.
Thank you! I'm planning on getting some better camera gear so we can do even better slow-mo shots. Both rifles are awesome but I would probably lean towards the Texan LSS with the carbon fiber tank and VX2 valve. The Hatsan is a really good gun but I would I assume its way louder than the Texan. Yeah the noise is something to consider as well since the texan lss is already suppressed and the piledriver would need a suppressor part to be quieter.
For ammo I'm finding alot more options in 45 than in 50 right now. the 50 might have more in the future. As for performance between the 2 calibers i think the 50 would have a bit more energy with the heaviest ammo. When identical guns are compared the only difference being caliber.
This is just my guess as of now based on other airgunner's reviews and their chronograph results with the texan lss tx2 in .45 .50 and piledriver in .45. I haven't seen any reviews yet in .50 for piledriver. If the bullet weight and fill pressure were the same i can't think of a reason why one caliber would shoot faster than the other.
And this may or maynot matter depending on what your shooting whether if it's a soft target like gel block, hunting game or a hard target like a keg or concrete brick.
@@PatLyoutubepage I agree. At the end of day your looking at 50-100flbs more in 50 cal. That being said there are valve mods available putting the Texan .45 over 1200ftlbs now. So either way you go power wont be a problem lol
@@proslugsairgunammunition1710 thats very true I've seen vids on the valve mods and fill pressure upgrades for the texan earlier this year and i almost forgot about that. Lethalair.net and african air ordnance took it to another new level and they have mods for other guns too

I have the Hatsan version, .457 Pile-driver, never shot it yet, waiting my bottle and pipes to turn up. I am loving this kind of stuff you do here. Great rifle you have. These modern big bore PCP rifles are NO joke. And still some laugh thinking they like old boy .177 or .22 break springer jobs. BIG mistake ! HAHAH
I'm bringing mine down to Cape Cod Gun Works as soon as I get down the Cape .

this is my next rifle! i have a Umarex 50 caliber and the 580 grain goes right through 3 !! yes 3 three !! 55 gallon steel drums! air rifles have come such a looooooon way!
Put some water in them tanks to make them more solid so no energy is lost

A 7/16 diameter hardened steel dowel pin sabot will pass through an inch of steel boiler plate. Just drill a hole into one of your lead pellets to hold the dowel pin. 😂

Are you positive that the keg is aluminum and not stainless steel?
Considering the way that the metal deformed and tore at entry /exit makes me wonder...

The hard cast wont damage an air rifle barrel? because i heard you can not shoot BP rounds in a PCP wears out the rifling in the barrel, PCP rifles don't have harden barrels

Those 500g soft cast are aluminum! Do they have any lead at all?
This rifle should definitely have a clip, for 1600 buck its not worth it for any single shot pcp rifle. There better rifles than the Lss out there.. the hammer only costs 800 bucks and I believe it is available in 70 cal aswell.

What caliber are you looking for? I just got material in to make a new version of the .457 steel core. This new version should be way faster to make and be something that we can have on the store for you guys.

@@alanbays4716 Yes. This may be late but that is the Airforce Texan SS which has the suppressor.
If you want a .50 or .51 pcp air rifle, the cost is around $1k depending on brand... Both the Hatsan Piledriver and Airforce Texan (several variants) cost around $1200 but I think the Dragon claw is like 1k

I would like to know what steel core penatrators do to you're barrel. Talk about ruining you're gun and wiping the rifeling from you're gun. Oh my word. Please tell me you thought of that. Doesn't cause any damage to the barrel or rifeling. This is huge.
The Steel Core Penetrators have a solid steel core embedded within a lead slug. No steel makes contact with barrel.
You are not a real airgunner unless you have shot a coronagraph LOL
