I learned in 1990 that we were supposed to do a visual check for possible cravat, sticks before we committed entirely to launch. I also fly solo mostly in the Rockies so when launching forward here I will always insure that all is ok before hitting the boosters. Old school perhaps but I feel safer for doing it especially with knarly launch sites.
I was recently given this reply to a similar comment on forward launching by a top BHPA instructor. Love to hear your comments on this too. This was a reply to a failed launch with a 5kph back wind in the Alps. ruclips.net/video/u7bSDqifcgY/видео.html The BHPA method used to include a visual check. It no longer does. On the whole, I'm against the visual check for two reasons: 1. What can you actually see by looking up at the wing? If lines are caught up with one another (as with your unfortunate incident?) it's almost impossible to tell. A better visual check is to have somebody else check from the front or side. 2. When looking up to check their own wings pilots usually pause (or at least decelerate), the wing looks good, they accelerate again just as the wing starts to drop back. It usually leads to the wings pitch momentum being rather un-smooth and therefore leads to an uncontrolled launch. For example sometimes having paused the wing now accelerates faster and leads to a frontal collapse just as the pilot leaves the ground. With a forward launch its therefore MORE important that we check that all the lines are free running.
What Is Islam? Islam is not just another religion. It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham. Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God. It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone. It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine. The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as: { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4) Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus. Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him

One of the best vids I've seen so far! Short and to the point, while also very instructional. Love it
Beautifully simplified!
Great Video - should likely add a check of the wing once overhead, before rocketing off.

Very nice. Easy and simple. Love fwd launch!
Excellent instruction. Thank you.
Nice and clear!
Well done
That's pretty cool. Shame there weren't videos like they when I was learning. 😎
Missed out probably the most important thing, checking lines are clear and glider flying correctly after releasing A's!
Beautiful and easy tutorial. Thanks!!
Thanks Thomas, we appreciate to positive feedback. Happy landings buddy!

Been there, great school....
It always hurt my arms when I do forward launching.sad.
Great video, this music though.... I'm getting attacked by clowns.
The music is perfect, everybody looks so adorable bouncing around with their little wings.
Awesome. Fantastic hair as usual - curly, fullsome and full of life. you just don't see that nowadays with these millennial instructors... 👌😉
I've noticed many of the 50+ year old gentlemen in this sport have long hair for some reason.
