    For those who are struggling with loud fan during idle, make sure you've unistalled Asus and Windows bloatware. Then, uninstall Armoury Crate and install G Helper. In G Helper, you can control the fan during Silent mode. Use that to change your fan profile. If temp still rise during Silent still, try to undervolt between -5 to -15.

    I ordered the 4080 at Best Buy, 2699$, and I am looking forward to it. I couldn't order the 4070 since it only had 16 gigs of ram and no Vapor Chamber. This seems to be the perfect blend of performance, efficiency, and portability. I agree you tubers who are primarily Apple users think this should run the same as their MacBook. I think these are more flexible as it can do what a Mac does as well as game 🎮.

      I'll say you probably wanna return that and order it some where else, that is little over priced I think. Macbooks are also over priced trashed. I was looking at the m3 15 inch with 36 gigs of ram and only 512 gigs of space will cost you about 2600 bucks which is ridiculous because m3 worse than m2 you can't upgrade and you can get like 10 other windows laptops at half the price twice the specs and you can always upgrade it and they share the same exact battery life and portability. Anybody who says macbooks are actually good usually doesn't have a clue about any other laptop and probably just have to much money to waste. They are okay laptops but def not worth the price

    While it can definitely be viewed as upsetting that Asus left a lot of watts on the table with the 4090 when compared to other 4090 laptops like the Razer Blade & MSI Titan, it could also be seen with the contrasting positive that a similar build of the Razer Blade is 25% more expensive.
    I would also hope that stressing the 4090 less means greater longevity of the hardware as well; so you'd have a top-spec laptop for the next year+ and a very functional laptop when it gets longer in the tooth 4+ years from now. Most Razers I've encountered have a significantly shorter lifespans when they are used and abused as a daily driver & gamer: I don't mean that as a knock on Razers at all, but rather a statement of when you run something at redline constantly it will obviously break down sooner. Plus the G16 just looks beautiful as well.

    G14 4070 32gb here. Maybe i got lucky, but when on battery for low intensity tasks, i have mine on silent mode, and it stays very cool (never passed 40C). Mind you, it got to 40C fans completely off after about 2 hrs of consistent use while on my bed (meaning no ventilation space under).
    I previously purchased and returned the 2023 model g14 due to MASSIVE overheating while doing absolutely nothing.

    I've always thought it's so silly how people complain about how loud a PC/laptop is.
    My boy. In Winter of 2016 I was using the dust-insulated jet engine of an Xbox 360 to heat my house when we were too poor to afford a working AC. xD And these days? We're always wearing noise cancelling headphones anyways? You're never going to hear it anyways??
    My only thing is fearing whether it's actually being cooled or not. So I got myself one of those external intake fans. Improves GPU temps by like, 10-degrees on my current laptop.
    I'm upgrading from a GTX1050 that someone had given to me for free. It just can't run anything modern.. and the mousepad is busted.
    And I wanna have a laptop with better specs than my PC - just because laptops don't perform as well.
    My PC has a 3070 with an i7-17700K CPU? And I'm gonna grab the G16 4070 version used on Amazon for $1500. :3
    I'll also be getting a cheap Windows Tablet, so I can have a dual monitor setup on the go! Coding Major & someone that likes to game on the road.

    You can let the GPU use more than 100w. That is just the default setting from the factory. Using manual mode in Armory Crate allows up to 125w. It’s also supported in G-Helper. Go check out the review from “Josh Craves Tech” to see more. He also has a video about swapping the vbios on the g16 4090 to unlock the entire 150-175w potential of the 4090

    I think the biggest complaint about fans is not while gaming, but rather most people are saying that it's not even quiet on idle or light loads, which many other performance laptops, including gaming laptops, are able to achieve. Did you get a lucky unit that was quiet on non-intensive tasks?

      I have the 4070 model with 32 gigs of ram and intel ultra 7 and mine is quiet and the thermals are stable in normal conditions. On battery, the fans run only around 1500-2000rpm on idle, which is silent and does not bother me at all, and the thermals are around 40-55 degrees Celsius, depending on what I am doing. I repeat, on SILENT mode. The battery is great and I can run about 9-12 hours on it. All in all, I am very happy with it. I came from a G14 2022 with R7 6800HS and Radeon RX 6800S which was a great laptop too. The only thing that I am not happy with is the armoury crate which glitches all the time, but G Helper should help with that, too.

      Please read my comment that I wrote here under the video. What you are experiencing with the heat is apparently "normal" for ASUS. My 2024 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 consistently overheats. It's just the CPU. Unfortunately, the waste heat cannot be dissipated by the chassis and its fan. Therefore, the heat remains in the chassis and the cooling solution is unfortunately incompetent despite the Vapour Chamber. I am constantly above 94c.

    I cannot agree with your assessment of the screen wobble. I find it to be very noticeable and, compared to the 2024 Razer Blade 16, the G16's build quality is significantly worse. It feels like I only have to look at the G16 and the screen wobbles. This effect is amplified when using the G16 on an arm, which is a realistic scenario for me. Additionally, my trackpad has a significant amount of rattling.
    I can understand your observations about the GPU's performance in Cyberpunk, but not the CPU's! My Intel Core 9 Ultra underperforms. You also show 35W, but my CPU thermal throttles and is constantly above 94°C at that wattage, no matter what I do. I have tried everything.
    Furthermore, I would not consider 5000 RPM fans that are thin to be quiet at all. I find them to be painfully loud. The 2024 Razer Blade 16 with RTX 4090 is significantly quieter, as you know yourself. Additionally, the tonality of the fans in the 2024 G16 is worse than in the 2024 Razer Blade.
    In my opinion, the 2024 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is not at all mature. You can't cheat physics. It's too thin. This thinness has also given ASUS an excuse to no longer include more than 32GB of RAM.
    Additionally, ASUS laptops come with a lot of bloatware. Armoury Crate looks hideous and is overloaded. Only GHelper can help. There are so many ASUS processes running in the background that they cause micro-interrupts.
    Overall, the 2024 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is a flawed and disappointing laptop.
    Also I saw a girl in the ASUS discord complaining about the exact same thing. She just got mocked and clowned at. Really nice community, ASUS.
    But it looks like I am not the only one. I never ever had a laptop this bad.

    Complains about the 4070 model being hot and loud compared to the 4090 vapor chamber model, then rants about "other" youtubers complaining that the same laptop is hot and loud 🤣.
    Can't keep on invoking physics to treat all gaming laptops the same. It sounds very unintelligent. There's more than one way to cool a laptop. It's not a static line of size versus power. A lot goes in the design, and bigger does not mean better, nor louder equals cooler.
    I'm glad the mainstream reviewers are doing these "amateur" reviews. It popularizes gaming laptops so we have more choice. But most importantly, it pushes gaming laptop manufacturers out of their comfort zone by introducing more scrutiny. For the longest time, they have indulged in bad habits and stagnation. Garbage tier speakers, plastic trackpads, creaky cheap cases, dull lifeless screens, potato cams, poop battery, etc. And people have similarly been justifying these deficiencies for years, because it's a "gaming laptop" and something something physics. Acer is literally releasing 18" behemoth laptops with trash speakers and a thick profile even though 30% of the internal volume is empty space, because all they did was extend their 16" version, the height of laziness and low effort. MSI has a similar track record of wastefulness.
    There's no good reason a Windows gaming laptop shouldn't run like a MacBook outside of gaming. If Apple ever becomes serious with gaming compatibility using their ARM based SoCs, the whole gaming laptop market will be threatened. The efficiency of their chips is just so much better in comparison. Sorry we don't need a jet engine to power everything.

    • @consumertechwarehouse
      @consumertechwarehouse  5 месяцев назад

      There’s some good points here. But you can’t compare the g16 to the MacBook even outside of gaming. The MacBook has a total thermal output of 80 watts which will generate way less heat than the g16 which pushes the GPU up to 125 watts alone and another 45 watts to the CPU. Intel and Nvidia are on a 7 nm process while Mac is on a 3. Once they start to catch up, then we’ll get much more efficient machines. And the manufacturers want to do more and make the best laptops but they’re waiting on the chip makers and windows to catch up.

    15:00 makes no sense. how is the 4080 in the g14 performing worse than the 4070 in the g16?

    • @tinybit780
      @tinybit780 5 месяцев назад +2

      Theory: G14 with 4080/4090 is overheating a lot at certain games and throttles/reduces TGP rather quickly. It was too much for such a small chassis that’s why I sold mine with the 4090 last year. Too hot and performance was good for a short Time Spy run, but degraded fast after longer use.

    • @consumertechwarehouse
      @consumertechwarehouse  5 месяцев назад +1

      If you look at 4k, it does better than the 4070, but the loss occurs at qhd and 1080p when the CPU is being used more. It’s either thermal throttling, Intel has a performance edge in this game, or dynamic boost is pushing more watts to the GPU.

Hell they will even try to justify the over priced macbooks. It doesn't stop there either other stuff like earbuds and other tech its the same story too. They test everything on and iphone and act like thats giving earbuds a fair advantage when iphone only supports shitty codec and no high res audio but the best earbuds needs high res if you paying all that money.

    Hello my friend. I got this g16 4090. Also been using m1 max for the past year, I dislike Mac os, but there is something off with fans that Asus puts inside their devices. On macbook noise is soft and I do not mind it at all even on full blast, while g16 is high pitch and annoing even on 1800 rpm...
    In Cinebench 2024 on Turbo mode i got
    Single 109
    Multi 750
    GPU 16000
    Silent
    Single 80
    Multi 700
    GPU 13000
    Noise all the time was a jet engine level.
    Even with g helper noise is unbearable because of high pitchness in its nature.

    The fact that you had to address the loud fan, even on a gaming laptop, is telling. I've owned a few now and I will say most gaming laptops running on silent mode will be mostly silent. The G16 (4070 version) is annoyingly loud. I almost bought it at BestBuy and ended up getting the Legion 7i Gen 9. The OLED screen is very nice to look at. I liked your video. Thank you for your time making this video.

  • @alvinamana1459

    Also gaming laptops like you said get loud of course but thats only when gaming during normal use they dont make any type of loud or annoying sound even back to the older gaming laptops like my y700 it never was loud during normal use just large. Macbook tried to do the same exact task with in 2 minutes it would cut off or kill itself or seriously burn you trying to do any thing a gaming laptop could do. I prefer louder fans while gaming vs a laptop that burning itself from the inside out that i spent 4k on 1tb with lol

    So base on you, reviewers should not mention and comparing Noise lvl, heat, etc with other laptops just because is normal to hear max out fan noise? That's ridiculous, you reviewers should always push companies to truly cut edges all the times and not just accept it.
    The only reason I don't get a gaming laptop is because of the noise, most of us hate fan noise!

    I really wanted to love the G16 4090 (2024) but unfortunately the GPU is not even close to the e.g. Razer Blade 16 OLED with 4090 GPU. The Razer really shows how important the wattage on the GPU is. They should have gone with at least 130-140W. If you have the choice I would go with the Razer. Sidenote: The speakers on the G16 are just incredible good. What I have seen the Razer can push maximum wattage for combined workloads 205-220W and the G16 only 130 - 140W. This is a very huge differnce and you will notice that when the system is unter load (CPU and GPU)
