ASUS laptops are sadly cheap laptops with lots of software and firmware malfunction. There are multiple people like me with failing 2024 Zephyrus devices. I went through 2024 G16 RTX 4090 laptops and they are always failing/overheating/throttling and come with quality control issues. ASUS paid a lot of influencers to hype that laptop up. Settled with this years Razer Blade 16. Couldn't be happier!
Great video mate! I got the rtx 4080 variant, and i got a question for you. When I play a high demanding game like baldurs gate 3 or dragons dogma 2, I cannot put the laptop on my lap because it BURNS really bad, more rhan other gaming laptops i used to own.. Did you encounter same thing with ur model? Also im amazed how u can game when on battery… how the gpu and cpu giving minimal performance loss. Is there a way to make the laptop make less heat when pluged in to the charger ?
Please read my comment that I wrote here under the video. What you are experiencing with the heat is apparently "normal" for ASUS. My 2024 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 consistently overheats. It's just the CPU. Unfortunately, the waste heat cannot be dissipated by the chassis and its fan. Therefore, the heat remains in the chassis and the cooling solution is unfortunately incompetent despite the Vapour Chamber. I am constantly above 94c.
you are using it wrong , gaming laptops shouldn't be used on lap, especially while gaming, the chassis will carry the heat from components. I would say run it on balanced or limit wattage of cpu( performance will drop but atleast temps will be under control), sadly this cpu can't be undervolted
Hardware Canucks did a review little more recently than this video and showed they found significant variances in FPS performance with repeated runs of games during their testing. Does this inconsistency seem noticeable to be an issue for you? I'm curious with regards to competitive FPS
How would you compare this laptop to the Legion 9i 9gen 4090 2024 model? Your reply and feedback will be greatly appreciated. PS Are you from Guyana? I hear an accent. Im from Grenada
I lov ethis laptop. I have the 4090, but I must admit, the laptop gets hot as sh*t when the 4090 is going. Battery life is great when on Optimus or integrated GPU mode.
One quick question: I’d like to get either the g14 or the g16 (both with the 4070, 32GB RAM). I have to travel quite a bit, but I’d prefer the bigger screen for work. Is the g16 portable or should I just get the g14 for my use case?
I have that model. 4070 with 32gb ram. This guy is loud when it shouldn't be because of that third fan. Returning it. Not worth it. Better to wait until they all have vapour chamber
I cannot agree with your assessment of the screen wobble. I find it to be very noticeable and, compared to the 2024 Razer Blade 16, the G16's build quality is significantly worse. It feels like I only have to look at the G16 and the screen wobbles. This effect is amplified when using the G16 on an arm, which is a realistic scenario for me. Additionally, my trackpad has a significant amount of rattling. I can understand your observations about the GPU's performance in Cyberpunk, but not the CPU's! My Intel Core 9 Ultra underperforms. You also show 35W, but my CPU thermal throttles and is constantly above 94°C at that wattage, no matter what I do. I have tried everything. Furthermore, I would not consider 5000 RPM fans that are thin to be quiet at all. I find them to be painfully loud. The 2024 Razer Blade 16 with RTX 4090 is significantly quieter, as you know yourself. Additionally, the tonality of the fans in the 2024 G16 is worse than in the 2024 Razer Blade. In my opinion, the 2024 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is not at all mature. You can't cheat physics. It's too thin. This thinness has also given ASUS an excuse to no longer include more than 32GB of RAM. Additionally, ASUS laptops come with a lot of bloatware. Armoury Crate looks hideous and is overloaded. Only GHelper can help. There are so many ASUS processes running in the background that they cause micro-interrupts. Overall, the 2024 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is a flawed and disappointing laptop. Also I saw a girl in the ASUS discord complaining about the exact same thing. She just got mocked and clowned at. Really nice community, ASUS. But it looks like I am not the only one. I never ever had a laptop this bad.
This entire post is a joke. As someone that actually owns the G16 the screen wobble isn't noticeable at all. This blows away the razer. Good luck with that buddy.
Yes you can in ARMOURY crate. But as the reply stated, the laptop won’t turn on the dGPU unless it needs to once you’re in the standard profile in ARMOURY crate
Hi, I'm from Indonesia, good video... I have a question, does that mean the g16 with 16 gigs isn't worth buying at all? Like for usage in the next 2-3 years?
I think vram is seeming to be more and more important for gaming than the regular ram. In some demanding games, 8 gen of vram isn’t enough if you want to play on high settings. But the RAM being 16gb isn’t showing signs of becoming outdated in a few years
@@consumertechwarehouse Got it. Because in the city where I live, there's only the G16 with an core 9 ultra, 8GB VRAM 4060, and 16GB RAM. Thanks for the insight!
I just received the 4070 16gb ram asus rog strix Gen16 its 14th generation intel. Just want to know how good will it perform with 16gb ram as I will be only using it for gaming nothing else. Should I extend the ram to 32gb
I bought this laptop, but I've had a TERRIBLE experience. Whenever the GPU is used even slightly, the laptop turns off. I even contacted the "CEO office" and was assured the issue would be addressed. However, after the repair, it came back with the same motherboard and the exact same issue. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this company. I can't believe they could fail this badly. This has been a huge letdown, and I feel completely let down by ASUS.
Complains about the 4070 model being hot and loud compared to the 4090 vapor chamber model, then rants about "other" youtubers complaining that the same laptop is hot and loud 🤣. Can't keep on invoking physics to treat all gaming laptops the same. It sounds very unintelligent. There's more than one way to cool a laptop. It's not a static line of size versus power. A lot goes in the design, and bigger does not mean better, nor louder equals cooler. I'm glad the mainstream reviewers are doing these "amateur" reviews. It popularizes gaming laptops so we have more choice. But most importantly, it pushes gaming laptop manufacturers out of their comfort zone by introducing more scrutiny. For the longest time, they have indulged in bad habits and stagnation. Garbage tier speakers, plastic trackpads, creaky cheap cases, dull lifeless screens, potato cams, poop battery, etc. And people have similarly been justifying these deficiencies for years, because it's a "gaming laptop" and something something physics. Acer is literally releasing 18" behemoth laptops with trash speakers and a thick profile even though 30% of the internal volume is empty space, because all they did was extend their 16" version, the height of laziness and low effort. MSI has a similar track record of wastefulness. There's no good reason a Windows gaming laptop shouldn't run like a MacBook outside of gaming. If Apple ever becomes serious with gaming compatibility using their ARM based SoCs, the whole gaming laptop market will be threatened. The efficiency of their chips is just so much better in comparison. Sorry we don't need a jet engine to power everything.
There’s some good points here. But you can’t compare the g16 to the MacBook even outside of gaming. The MacBook has a total thermal output of 80 watts which will generate way less heat than the g16 which pushes the GPU up to 125 watts alone and another 45 watts to the CPU. Intel and Nvidia are on a 7 nm process while Mac is on a 3. Once they start to catch up, then we’ll get much more efficient machines. And the manufacturers want to do more and make the best laptops but they’re waiting on the chip makers and windows to catch up.
i curious how rog m16 would hold up in next year, the 2023 ver already fixed the thermal throttling significantly. It just needs a vapor chamber and efficient cpu
It’s hard to say. But intel and NVIDIA are due for an architecture change next year that should have better efficiency and performance. The core ultra series is a good first step, but can’t keep up with the i9 hex series. And NVIDIA is due for a refresh since they didn’t update their GPUs this year.
@@consumertechwarehouse ye based on leaks cpu names are gonna get really messy too, hopefully Intel works on efficiency since at present meteor lake chips seem to be efficient only in specific workload and lose all efficiency gains above 30w.
@@consumertechwarehouseplease, do you have the G16 available to sell? I don't mind paying, I'm not really a gaming person and in fact, I want to only use it for my career in Cybersecurity.
I have the 4070 variant, i9 985h. It gets so fucking hot I could probably cook eggs in the surface below the screen. Welp, I just accepted it and moved on. I don't know how long does this laptop will last. Unacceptable.
If money is no cost would you go with this or the blade 16 4090 Oled? I currently have a blade 14 and love their design but I’m torn on which one to get…
I have both but would say the G16 is better as a laptop because of the form factor, battery life, and temperatures. But the Blade 16 is better as a desktop replacement because of its performance.
The intel HX chips drink battery for breakfast, lunch and dinner but if you just use it at your des and don't plan to travel/take it to uni then you're fine.
I think about building a PC instead. But as I'm gaming right now in my living room with a controller and my laptop, I would rather have this. To each their own though
If you disable the dgpu and run off of the igpu you can probably get a few hours. The Nvidia gpus aren't meant to be ran on battery though so that would maybe be an hour or 2
Should I get the asus g16 with 4070 , or the transcend 14 with 4060, or the hp spectre 16 worth 32gb ram and 4050? I'll mainly watch videos and sometimes maybe play warzone and fortnite. And maybe other games but mostly cod and fortnite. Which one should I get?
They’re both on sale right now for the same price and fantastic value. I haven’t checked out the transcend yet. If I had to choose one, I’d choose the asus g16 easily. It’s one of my favorite laptops this year if you don’t mind the chassis getting warm when doing intense gaming sessions
Theory: G14 with 4080/4090 is overheating a lot at certain games and throttles/reduces TGP rather quickly. It was too much for such a small chassis that’s why I sold mine with the 4090 last year. Too hot and performance was good for a short Time Spy run, but degraded fast after longer use.
If you look at 4k, it does better than the 4070, but the loss occurs at qhd and 1080p when the CPU is being used more. It’s either thermal throttling, Intel has a performance edge in this game, or dynamic boost is pushing more watts to the GPU.

I def agree you really have to be careful with alot of reviewers they literally dont know shit and will overhype any laptops they can get their hands on like even a 4060 they will act like its great to play tripple a games on at ultra settings its def alot of genz honestly. Hell they will even try to justify the over priced macbooks. It doesn't stop there either other stuff like earbuds and other tech its the same story too. They test everything on and iphone and act like thats giving earbuds a fair advantage when iphone only supports shitty codec and no high res audio but the best earbuds needs high res if you paying all that money.
Hello my friend. I got this g16 4090. Also been using m1 max for the past year, I dislike Mac os, but there is something off with fans that Asus puts inside their devices. On macbook noise is soft and I do not mind it at all even on full blast, while g16 is high pitch and annoing even on 1800 rpm... In Cinebench 2024 on Turbo mode i got Single 109 Multi 750 GPU 16000 Silent Single 80 Multi 700 GPU 13000 Noise all the time was a jet engine level. Even with g helper noise is unbearable because of high pitchness in its nature.
Also my unit has some electronic sound, like from old HDD, screaky, scratchy, looks like it comes from SSD?! Have you noticed flicker on screen? When I move brightness down, at 20% if I press brightness button, for split seconds I can see lines and artifacts.
I don’t test that game. But if you’re playing in low settings I think you can max out the screen in either. In competitive shooters I’m usually playing on the lowest settings anyway to maximize frames and decrease latency
@consumertechwarehouse thanks. I'm coming from a desktop 4080 so just worried I will be disappointed in performance with g16 4090 but I will give it a try. Thanks for the reply
The fact that you had to address the loud fan, even on a gaming laptop, is telling. I've owned a few now and I will say most gaming laptops running on silent mode will be mostly silent. The G16 (4070 version) is annoyingly loud. I almost bought it at BestBuy and ended up getting the Legion 7i Gen 9. The OLED screen is very nice to look at. I liked your video. Thank you for your time making this video.
Also gaming laptops like you said get loud of course but thats only when gaming during normal use they dont make any type of loud or annoying sound even back to the older gaming laptops like my y700 it never was loud during normal use just large. Macbook tried to do the same exact task with in 2 minutes it would cut off or kill itself or seriously burn you trying to do any thing a gaming laptop could do. I prefer louder fans while gaming vs a laptop that burning itself from the inside out that i spent 4k on 1tb with lol
So base on you, reviewers should not mention and comparing Noise lvl, heat, etc with other laptops just because is normal to hear max out fan noise? That's ridiculous, you reviewers should always push companies to truly cut edges all the times and not just accept it. The only reason I don't get a gaming laptop is because of the noise, most of us hate fan noise!
Then check out the Alienware m16 r2. It’s a lot heavier and thicker but has better cooling components to keep it quiet. There’s trade offs to everything. Especially when it comes to gaming laptops.
It is. And that's a concern for some. The ram they use is meant to last longer than the removable ram in most gaming laptops. Only time will tell though
I really wanted to love the G16 4090 (2024) but unfortunately the GPU is not even close to the e.g. Razer Blade 16 OLED with 4090 GPU. The Razer really shows how important the wattage on the GPU is. They should have gone with at least 130-140W. If you have the choice I would go with the Razer. Sidenote: The speakers on the G16 are just incredible good. What I have seen the Razer can push maximum wattage for combined workloads 205-220W and the G16 only 130 - 140W. This is a very huge differnce and you will notice that when the system is unter load (CPU and GPU)
Blade 16 is a mirror destroying all fun if it’s not dark. Too reflective. You can enable 125W with G-Helper even in Performance mode. Then it will extremely close to your targeted 130W.
@@tinybit780 90% you don't notice the mirror screen. Only when you look for it or staring at a very black screen. My money goes to the much more expensive blade now. It really is that much better and more worth it. The G16 has not been a good experience so far. Its buggy too.
@@Neekzu I had the Blade 16 and returned it only because of that because I noticed it a lot. I really tried hard until the last day of being able to return it. What happened?
rly, what happened?
ASUS laptops are sadly cheap laptops with lots of software and firmware malfunction. There are multiple people like me with failing 2024 Zephyrus devices. I went through 2024 G16 RTX 4090 laptops and they are always failing/overheating/throttling and come with quality control issues. ASUS paid a lot of influencers to hype that laptop up. Settled with this years Razer Blade 16. Couldn't be happier!
Hey I'm curious, what happened?
Bro youve always given some of the best reviews out there
what’s the comparison between this laptop and let’s say the ROG Strix G16 240hz i9 4070?
How much do you like the Alienware M16 compared to the G16 Asus? Did you try the X16 as well?
Excelent information, you got a new sub!
You do notice the weight difference... its 135 g (.3 lbs) and the charger is heavier, but its fine for its class and the power it brings.
With much power comes much responsibility
Great video mate!
I got the rtx 4080 variant, and i got a question for you.
When I play a high demanding game like baldurs gate 3 or dragons dogma 2, I cannot put the laptop on my lap because it BURNS really bad, more rhan other gaming laptops i used to own..
Did you encounter same thing with ur model?
Also im amazed how u can game when on battery… how the gpu and cpu giving minimal performance loss.
Is there a way to make the laptop make less heat when pluged in to the charger ?
Raising the baxk should help, other than that any thin aluminum laptop with such powerful components will heat up considerably.
Being in the mid 90s on the cpu is normal for a gaming laptop. Especially thin and light ones.
you are using it wrong , gaming laptops shouldn't be used on lap, especially while gaming, the chassis will carry the heat from components. I would say run it on balanced or limit wattage of cpu( performance will drop but atleast temps will be under control), sadly this cpu can't be undervolted
This is a shit tier laptop for thermal regulation
Hey was wondering what is the brand of the yellow cable that u used? Looks sick!
It's a company called sharge
The company sent this to me. It’s kind of expensive for what it is though. But good build quality and really sturdy. amzn.to/3UzlAOf
Im on the ropes between the 2, I currently have the g16 4090 2024 model and also have the Legion 9i 9gen 2024 4090 model on order..Im loving the g16 but I'm a bit worried about it playing AAA high demanding games since it's not using the 4090 to its full capacity and I know the Legion 9i will.
The 4070 mobile only having 8g VRAM should be criminalized.
I agree. I think the rtx 50 series needs to fix that.
@@popeye82 Hey, have you returned it yet? I'd like to buy from you but my budget isn't that high 😢
@@footballcafe.2635 I returned after a couple hours of use. I absolutely could not stand it
Are you experiencing stutters in using the laptop?
Hi, I bought 4070 like a week ago, stutters on the higher temp but now I changed to 4080 it doesn’t stutter at all because of the lower temp
I never ever had a laptop this bad.

can this g16 disable the discreet graphic card so as to have the battery last longer?
Most gaming laptops use the iGPU unless you're plugged in or specifically launch an app in the dedicated gpu mode
But the RAM being 16gb isn’t showing signs of becoming outdated in a few years
@@consumertechwarehouse
Got it.
Asus really got a lot right with the G16 this year. It would be almost perfect if it had a 140-150 watt rtx 4090. Keep up the detailed reviews.
That sounds terrible. Can you exchange it at the store you bought it?
The slash light is irritating 😞
Razer is way thicker
The more I watch these gaming laptop reviews, the more it makes less sense to buy one. Probably just a better idea building a pc 😂
I think about building a PC instead. But as I'm gaming right now in my living room with a controller and my laptop, I would rather have this. To each their own though
What would the battery life be like for light to medium web browsing and office work?
Really looong
If you set the vsync at 60fps, would 4090 still run at max power and create heat with fan noise?
Nope it won’t. The gpu only uses what it needs
Can you test cyberpunk on the rtx 4090 at 4k resolution, dlss performance, frame generation, ultra settings, path tracing, and turbo mode?
I don't have it anymore but if I had to guess you'll get over 40 fps with frame gen. I test with Dlss ultra and overdrive.
@@consumertechwarehouse thanks 😊
Sir, how long does it last when gaming with battery?
If you disable the dgpu and run off of the igpu you can probably get a few hours. The Nvidia gpus aren't meant to be ran on battery though so that would maybe be an hour or 2

They’re both on sale right now for the same price and fantastic value. I haven’t checked out the transcend yet. If I had to choose one, I’d choose the asus g16 easily. It’s one of my favorite laptops this year if you don’t mind the chassis getting warm when doing intense gaming sessions

15:00 makes no sense. how is the 4080 in the g14 performing worse than the 4070 in the g16?
Theory: G14 with 4080/4090 is overheating a lot at certain games and throttles/reduces TGP rather quickly. It was too much for such a small chassis that’s why I sold mine with the 4090 last year. Too hot and performance was good for a short Time Spy run, but degraded fast after longer use.
If you look at 4k, it does better than the 4070, but the loss occurs at qhd and 1080p when the CPU is being used more. It’s either thermal throttling, Intel has a performance edge in this game, or dynamic boost is pushing more watts to the GPU.
Is the 4070 silent on idle? Is the 4080 better?
None of them really are silent. 4070 is never silent. Vapour Chamber versions are quiet but not silent.
@Neekzu thanks a ton!

Does it wibble though?
Does the rubber foot nearest to the bottom vents creak for you when pressed? I just got this same laptop and it's been bothering me.
I didn’t notice that on mine
Hello my friend. I got this g16 4090. Also been using m1 max for the past year, I dislike Mac os, but there is something off with fans that Asus puts inside their devices. On macbook noise is soft and I do not mind it at all even on full blast, while g16 is high pitch and annoing even on 1800 rpm...
In Cinebench 2024 on Turbo mode i got
Single 109
Multi 750
GPU 16000
Silent
Single 80
Multi 700
GPU 13000
Noise all the time was a jet engine level.
What sad is the MSI Stealth 18 has a 4090 at 150w. Yes its bigger but is in the same ballpark as slim. Cmon Asus why not that as a compromise?
Question for you. If I only cared about performance for cod and fortnite. Should I take a rog g16 4090 or a razor blade 16 4080?
I don’t test that game. But if you’re playing in low settings I think you can max out the screen in either. In competitive shooters I’m usually playing on the lowest settings anyway to maximize frames and decrease latency
@consumertechwarehouse thanks. I'm coming from a desktop 4080 so just worried I will be disappointed in performance with g16 4090 but I will give it a try. Thanks for the reply
@MiromaTube oh you definitely won't get the same performance. It'll be like 30% less maybe more. But still more than playable
I prefer louder fans while gaming vs a laptop that burning itself from the inside out that i spent 4k on 1tb with lol
i'd rather get this instead of a mcbook pro that also as expensive
So base on you, reviewers should not mention and comparing Noise lvl, heat, etc with other laptops just because is normal to hear max out fan noise? That's ridiculous, you reviewers should always push companies to truly cut edges all the times and not just accept it.
The only reason I don't get a gaming laptop is because of the noise, most of us hate fan noise!
Then check out the Alienware m16 r2. It’s a lot heavier and thicker but has better cooling components to keep it quiet. There’s trade offs to everything. Especially when it comes to gaming laptops.
i really dont know whether to choose this or the G14, it would be at the 4070 spec i just dont know which is better
Pls make a review of the yoga pro 9i with 185h and rtx 4070❤
I hear the ram is soldered? Is that correct? What happens if it breaks?
It is. And that's a concern for some. The ram they use is meant to last longer than the removable ram in most gaming laptops. Only time will tell though
Which is better, this or the Lenovo Legion equivalent?
Do they take 15% from you when you return them?
Not if it's unopened/defective
